HITACHI XL Desk 1TB 3.5" External Hard Drive
Comment:
Of several years of working with several 1TB external and internal drives, Hitachi has been the ideal priced of the 7200rpm drives and no failures to date. These are drives that I run 24ǝ more than a period of at least six months every single (archived immediately after they are full). Bulky plug, requires up too much space on a surge protector. I guess most externals that will need to be plugged in do. I have had excellent luck with pretty substantially all my external and internal 1TB hard drives, Western Digital appears a small slow 񢾘rpm), and Samsung is far more high-priced for the exact same speed. I have yet to have a 1TB external fail, on the other hand, I consider my Samsung is going to die as it clicks every single so often.

HITACHI XL Desk 1TB 3.5" External Hard Drive
Comment:
Drive worked ok, when it was alive. Decent speed, no complaints, not overly loud or hot. Seems to be constructed more like a "green" kind drive with decrease energy consumption, heat, rpms, read/write speed. Wonderful cost also even for ten months ago. Died following 10 months of sporadic use. Genuinely not great. On the other hand, the drive itself didn't die. I additional or significantly less ripped apart the enclosure, removed the drive and put it inside a rosewill enclosure I had around. From there it has worked just fine and I did not shed a single byte of information. I have not yet attempted to use the Hitachi enclosure's usd/sata interface with another drive-but I wouldn't anticipate it to perform anyway. Also would prefer an on off switch but I guess that is an added extra anyway. Look elsewhere for an external, or just obtain an internal drive with an enclosure.

plug & play was good.... when the drive was functioning. Took a large c-r-a-p in 10 minutes! Was not even capable to back up one directory of 12 gb. Just glad it died prior to I began to rely on it for a backup source. Back it goes! Never ever applied a Hitachi drive prior to and will Never do in the future. Ought to have spent the บ extra for a Western digital backup. I have never had a drive die like this in over 15 years of IT expertise.

Value. Reasonably rapidly. Quiet but doesn't seem to get overly warm soon after a couple hours operating. The case looks cheap, as does the light on front. Nevertheless the build is of average high quality, but still sturdy. Power adapter is major, so you may possibly need extra outlet space. All in all, I think this is a good drive at a great value. Would advise. You get what you pay for.

Picked up two of these for backups for my partner's Mac and my own. Dead uncomplicated to format and get running. They energy themselves down when they're not in use. They also look to run cool. The stand is a bit flimsy, but I've in no way had a dilemma with them falling over.

I like the external enclosure. Powers on with device on, turns off when the device it is connected to turns off. Extremely affordable challenging drive. Only lasted for four hours. If you get this be sure to have every thing on it backed up to yet another drive as it WILL fail on you. If not in a few hours, inside a couple of months tops. Would be far better off paying twice as considerably for a drive that will last you a couple of years.

Enormous and cheap as! Has lasted me far more than a year and now I am promoting it to get a thing larger. I utilized it for Time Machine with my MacBook Pro for the past year and due to the fact I not too long ago upgraded my laptop's really hard drive I have to get a bigger external for Time Machine. Needs a energy supply. When my MacBook Pro falls asleep the drive ejects. You only have the solution of employing USB. None of these are poor for me but some folks may see them as cons. Enormous drive for a affordable cost.

Effortless. Entirely plug and play. Roomy, plenty of room to use as a backup drive. I had it hooked up and operating a backup in seconds. Utilized the Windows Vista backup software, what came in the drive did not seem to want to run. 1 additional pack on my power strip. Cheap insurance for somebody whose mainframe HDD is acting a tiny shaky. I just wanted to preserve the pics and music, but put the whole shebang on this and it's not half full.

It has been excellent to me. Easy set up, Easy usage, Straightforward transfers. Haven't truly had any problems with it except the small stand it comes with the little pegs broke, so I just can't move it that a lot. I've even dropped the issue and nothing went incorrect with it. The stand is affordable. My wire set up is a tiny unusual so my External is backwards and the wires are in my way from time to time.

So far so good! Just had my Maxtor OneTouch (containing Seagate 7200.ten) die on me. Have a two TB Hitachi Deskstar that I'm working with as an internal backup drive I'm really pleased with. Read a few critiques on these getting unreliable, but for the sale price tag I got it for ࿑.99 with free of charge shipping), figured it was worth the risk. In addition to, anything's much better than a Seagate! None however but will update if my sentiment modifications.

I bought this drive at a local retailer in California. The drive died right after ~ 6 months of use, so I contacted Hitachi for RMA on April 14th, 2010. It is now June 23rd, 2010 and I just received an e mail that they are shipping a replacement drive and it will be another 10 days prior to I get it. two+ months to replace a drive? That is Quite poor service Hitachi and it will avert me from purchasing Something Hitachi most probably forever (that consists of LED TVs, BluRay players, and so on). Newegg removed my original critique with no explaination.

It was large and low-cost! Died on me following 2 months. It was never ever dropped or mishandled. It just sat on my desk connected to my desktop. Then a single day when I plugged it in, it made a beeping sound, and my computer couldn't detect it. I replaced the cord, and tried on my laptop: nothing.Only lost 100 gigs, but most of it was bsides and concert MP3s I've had for years. Gone. Don't obtain this drive...devote the extra ฤ and get a thing much better.

Lots of space for the money. That's it. It WAS a noticeably slow drive - from 7ቨ till currently. And then it died... (didn't even last 3 months). No light, nothing. I don't even WANT a replacement; I won't go for the "bargain" subsequent time.

Affordable, fast drive STUPIDLY created box that has no flat surface to, e.g., stack various drives. Powers off and spins down following some ྯ minutes) of non-usage. Cannot prevent this from happening. Spends ㅂ seconds ahead of it comes ready following spinup. I thought this was supposed to power down when NOT CONNECTED to a USB port; nope -- just when it isn't accessed.

Good sleek appear. Didn't perform. At all! when I plug it in, it takes time for the light to come on, but even following it comes on, it makes some clicking noise and absolutely nothing takes place right after that. I tried it on various PCs and the same factor, it's like it's not reading it.
