HT | OMEGA STRIKER Sound Card
Comment:
Excellent Sound good quality for music/movies, don't play games on the laptop....it is in an HTPC. Loud popping noise when windows 7 starts. Seems like the computer software is lacking a bit. Went from an old SB audigy to this, this one does make music sound far better on a five.1 surround system and is more stable, appears to handle any sound source and put it into 5.1 quite well.

Installed quickly on Ubuntu Linux 10.04, no additional drivers had been required. Did not test digital outputs, but the analog outputs worked simply by changing 1 sound alternative. Excellent sound excellent. The analog outputs conflicted with what my speakers required (my speakers put the center speaker and subwoofer on the very same output for some reason), but this could just as simply been a con for the speakers rather than the card. Overall a creat card.

-Extremely high good quality supplies and sturdy, just by looking at it you can tell it's anything but sloppy.-7.1 channels, Dolby Digital DTS, EAX and other enhancements.-Easy but functional control panel software. Not extremely flashy, but it undoubtedly gets the job completed.-Multiple connectors for a wide range of input devices.-Fantastic sound quality, even when listening to compressed audio files.-Various 10ǚǘ-pin headers on the card (Front Panel, Aux in, CD in, Coax-CD S/PDIF in, MIDI IO.-Fully configurable Surround Sound settings in software program. The only con I can believe of is a lack of color-coded input jacks on the card. Text labels are etched into the metal itself, but colored ports would be much additional effortlessly recognizable in lower light (under a desk). I had debated over this Striker or some thing from the huge dog in the sound card company for some months, and let me tell you, I'm glad I didn't blow funds on some thing else. This card, although "budget priced" compared to the Claro, puts out extremely clear, crisp audio and I had no troubles installing the card whatsoever. Recall, don't use the drivers on the included CD, they're out of date, download the driver for your operating method in advance from their internet site and you'll be all set. Ahead of this card, I was working with my M2R32-MVP's integrated SoundMax audio, and I'm so glad I spent the dollars to switch. At 1 point I was employing a mid-range Audigy card but that thing had problems more typically than not, and didn't deliver the sound high quality I expected. Music, games, movies, something with audio sounds so a great deal superior with this card. For the income, you would be tough pressed to locate a better remedy than the Striker. Genuinely exceptional card, it hasn't even been 2 days however and I'm already in like.

• 7.1 compatible.• Crystal clear sound.• Astoundingly low price for the high quality. • Inputs not colored.• Descriptions for the inputs are upside down and covered up immediately after installation.Keep in thoughts that these hardly have an impact on the card's overall excellent. Strangely, I had a somewhat challenging time installing the card into my motherboard. I could have sworn I was doing every thing correct. Eventually, right after some gentle fiddling, the card just sort of magically slid into place. The control panel doesn't have quite a few capabilities to offer you, but that's hardly a large deal when acquiring a high quality sound card. Buying a sound card just for the flashy capabilities is like obtaining a video game just for the graphics.Overall, my song good quality has created a superior jump. I largely bought this just to escape the binding chains of onboard sound, and it's definitely a breath of fresh air to hear my games, music, and movies in a entire new light. When guitar riffs begin getting heavy, there's no a lot more ugly "tearing" anymore, and as numerous say: "I now hear factors I never heard just before in my games/music."

Sounded excellent although it lasted Loud popping noise when windows starts.1 day, for no apparent cause, I began finding seriously poor EMI. This was a high pitched popping/beeping noise. I believed it could have been only the mouse, but noticed it also happened for the duration of HDD read/writes. Tried moving wires about in my case, reseating the card, and trying diverse PCI slots but it did not change anything so now I am just working with my EVGA X58 FTW3's integrated audio and I'm pleasantly surprised with how nicely it is working out. I figure the performance "loss" won't be a lot anyway considering that right now's CPUs are so beefy.

The sound card is a great upgrade from the creative extreme gamer sound card. I have the sound card paired with the Logitech Z-5500 505 Watts 5.1 Digital Speaker System. This combination makes for exceptional atmosphere to knowledge what DTS games and multimedia videos can give. Battlefield Poor Company two is fantastic example of hearing everything and acquiring freaked out when hearing footsteps all about you or impending doom of a missile strike. I would extremely advise this sound card for gamers that can afford the hardware. this card works fine under 16 bit mode, DOES NOT, repeat NOT function as a 24 bit depth card, (as advertised) there is no alternative to even pick 24 bit depth in the advanced settings, If you program on acquiring ANY kind of tech support from HT omega, forget it. They do not have a telephone number, they have some cheesy web help desk exactly where you can send an email, (which i did four days ago and nonetheless have recieved no response. This card was advertised as 24 bit at 96 khz on newegg and other sights.requesting rma. the fact that this business has NO Means OF CONTACTING them is actually kinda concerning, it signifies basically if you have any type of problem, your only alternative is to rma. I would look for a business that at least has a telephone number for some sort of support if i were you

Been listening non stop through my grado sr225s, ath-ad700s, Se530s, and my monitors and they are just wonderful. Do yourself a favor and switch to this if you're coming from onboard audio.

Truly kicked up my Mp3 collection. Employing on my HTPC connected to a Yamaha RXV 1000 and my 5.1 system. Genuinely sounds good!I am not a gamer so I cant vouch for that application. This setup could very easily be used by a specialist DJ.It does sound that superior.Easily the finest Music/Movie sound card I have owned. Some of the plings and chimes on windows specially when Media Center opens are choppy.(Who cares) I am running windows 7 making use of drivers from the Omega site.I don't care as long as my music and movies have outstanding clarity and sound. I gave 4 eggs as every little thing need to perform appropriately. As I stated I dont use this machine for games so I cant comment on that.Using the optical output which has to be turned on in the program prior to it will perform.Asking yourself if the Omega would have been a bettter choice but I am very content with the Striker.

Initial impression on unboxing is that it's a wonderful, compact, nicely-designed and produced card. Kinda hefty feeling, as it's bristling with caps and amps and stuff. Gold-plated connectors are a nice touch. Flawless, super simple setup in Win7 Ultimate 32 bit. Just power down, install the card, power up the PC, disable onboard sound in BIOS, DL and install drivers from the HT Omega site, reboot when prompted and you're performed. My receiver (Onkyo TX-SR606) sees the optical DTS signal and locks onto it instantly (first DTS I have ever fed to it). I have a 6-channel sound file that I use for configuring surround, and it checked out fine. Each and every channel is discrete and clear. No hiss at higher volume levels like I was getting from my mobo's onboard analog surround sound. Just excellent. None that I can believe of. Not the cheapest soundcard, but I don't mind paying added for something that delivers on it's promises. I didn't check out the analog surround, as I bought it specifically for it's DTS encoding capability. From what I read in the reviews, I'm confident it's greater than onboard. It's developed in USA and produced in Korea. I associate Korea with properly-produced items like Samsung.

Superior sound. Simple installation. Many sample rate output. Both 16- and 24-bit. S/PDIF output works properly. Does not alter digital output sample rate to match source. That is, it won't automatically switch from 44.1 to 96 kHz when switching between CD source and Hi-Fi ("HD") source. Does not play well with hardware decoding of Battlefield 2142 sound. I got this so card so I can output 44.1kHz (native CD top quality) more than S/PDIF to an outboard DAC, plus 96kHz for some hi-res music. I have not tried analog output.

Properly made, good searching cardNo inexpensive components on itThe gold plating is a rare come across in the much less costly cardssound high quality is superb, the Dolby surround is great. Windows7 64bit is realllyyy poor at finding the right drivers for a card, so make sure you grab them from the HT Omega website. I just google searched for them and downloaded them nice and uncomplicated. They dont come on the included cd.Also it didnt come with any screws for my chassis, but i could've had my own. What a sick card. Right after alot of searching I located this card- it remains on the high end of the cards without having getting the insane price tag. Its sweet too, if you go to ht omegas web site they have a MIDI i/o cable that fits in a slot in the back. For me that sold it.

Simple acquire from Newegg.Straightforward to install.Works wonderful with Windows Vista 64bit.Works wonderful with Linux (Ubuntu and RHEL 5.three)Isn't made by a vendor I shall not name due to the product evaluation guidelines (which I respect). I can't believe of any even after over a year of use. I became disenfranchised with the other sound card vendor when they dropped the ball on Linux support a bit more than a year ago. They also removed Dolby decoding from their Vista drivers for no adequately explained reason. If someone gave me a product from that company I would feel bad selling it to a person even if I did not know them.I would suggest the HT Omega Striker 7.1 card any day of the week.

This card is remarkable. I will never go back to Cr3ative again ever. This card pushes out some of the greatest audio I've ever heard 640Khz Dolby audio is awesome. With this card you get drivers that in fact function in windows 7, and at that with no problems. I didn't run into any hicups on installation and given that i've installed i have had no crashes due to the fact of sound. My front panel audio jacks also work once more. all the connectors are gold, and the card is not thin and flimsy to hold in your hand. You can basically hear points come from behind you with surround sound which makes Doom 3 specially scary, and makes world of warcraft that significantly cooler. The 3D positional audio when used with headphones basically works. I am utilizing a Logitech five.1 program, and a pair of Klipsch Image S4 and both sound incredible. the Environmental effects are great to have and do not distort and destroy your sound like my old cr3ative card did. Very robust card and the audio in sounds so clear. Thank you HT Omega!!! My case has a challenging time permitting the microphone input jack let a microphone plug in. extremely tight fit. I have a lower finish coolermaster, but even then there is nonetheless enough clearance. but this is definately not worth taking an egg away. Also I have not been able to use my Ps3's optical out to analog out from my sound card. it has something to do with particular codecs but it supposedly can be done. Acquire it. No X-fi - this thing rocks!!! I have been a musician for a lot of years and know superior audio when I hear it.

The card was fine for mp3/normal sound. Your standard everyday stuff it could do just fine, and I in no way got to seriously test the card to its fullest possible in this regard. Could be a wonderful card; dunno. The customer service was superb too. Incredibly rapidly responses (within 1 day, even on weekends. Once on a friday night, even!) I bought this card for use with my guitar and MIDI software. The amazing environmental effects (various echos/reverbs like "sewer," "mountain tops," "auditorium," and so on) would not adapt to my guitar (plugged directly into line-in). So for me, strike one. Also, the stock MIDI sound was fairly weak: a low-end Common MIDI font. And I couldn't tweak it to boost it. And it cracked generally as I played MIDI files for when I was writing music w/ MIDI programs. Strikes two, 3, and four; you're out. So this was a couple methods down from my old Audigy Sound Blaster of pretty much 8 years ago. Despite the fact that I suppose it's my fault for not performing the analysis. Still, not terribly musician-friendly, in these regards. Card was fine for the other fundamental purposes, and I should reiterate the prompt and fantastic aid of the tech support (although ever so slightly broken english).

I got every little thing installed and couldn't figure out why my optical from my ps3 wasnt getting passed through to my receiver and he sent me back a extremely detailed e-mail with labeled photos showing me specifically what to do. Excellent job! Switched from a creative xtremegamer to this and could not be happier with my selection. The xtremegamer in no way sounded as very good, and had half of the connection options. Even if you don't require all of them I would suggest going with this card due to the fact of the ease of use, my creative card had five diverse applications I had to download even though omega has 1!

Absolutely better than my creative x-fi platinum; despite the fact that the platinum did have a good array of input/output for the front panel. Driver UI is pretty straightforward, not fairly as fairly as creative's UI.Really like the optical DTS. Blasted full volume on my logitech Z5500s.. o.m.g... sounded superior than a live rock concert. Blue ray movies sound PHENOMENAL. The louder I play stuff, the greater it sounds. Lovin my setup.On-board front panel connector is extremely nifty. None so far. Love this factor. Solid good quality sound card right here folks.

My Asus M3A78 motherboards onboard sound by no means ever worked correct. Then I updated my BIOS in order to install a new CPU, and onboard sound entirely died.I decided to stop messing about with it and purchased this sound card primarily just to replace my onboard sound, and I was pleasantly suprised by the noticable improvement! The sound top quality is at very best only a fraction superior as near as my ears can tell, though that may be due to the onboard sound being broken in some way. But I'm impressed by the overall weath of options this card has, in addition to it's ease of use.All i had to do was uninstall my old audio drivers, turn off my pc, install the card, reboot the PC, go into my BIOS and diable the onboard audio, and use the Windows 7 drivers I located on the producers site. In less than five minutes I had superior working sound! None so far! I chose this card mainly because of the guaranteed Windows 7 compatibility, and the SPDIF output. It had a little trouble recognizing the SPDIF out, I had to play around in the audio settings program in order to allow it. The front panel connectors aren't labled on the card, but the hookup information is in the manual. I have not hooked these up yet so I don't know for certain if they function.Overall, I'm not an audiophile, so this card could be overkill for somoene who just wanted working sound, but it does what I wanted it to do. I could have purchased more affordable, but I wanted a card I was fairly specific would work all the way based on reviews, and this fit the bill.

Top quality components, numerous outputs, Linux and Win7 driver support. 24-bitኼkHz sampling, S/PDIF coaxial and optical input and output ports. Even though it's a consumer-grade card, the signal isolation and analog filtering is the greatest I've noticed on such a card. I can't stand on-board audio good quality on most motherboards, so this has been a welcome improvement. I had some trouble with the drivers early on, but updated drivers fixed quite significantly all my issues. The included software program is ugly, but I don't use it. Pulse audio configuration in Ubuntu 9.10 was counter-intuitive.It would be nice if there was a PCI-express version. I see a lot of people had trouble with the drivers here. I'm not positive what the problem is for most men and women, but the drivers on the CD worked fine for me in XP SP2, although Windows 7 installed it automatically. Vista initially had some driver problems, but had been ultimately fixed.Ubuntu Ƙ.10, 9.04 and 9.10, 32 and 64-bit) recognized it with out any difficulties, but the switch to PulseAudio threw in a monkeywrench. It works, but selecting the suitable I/O connections was tricky.I'm not sure why people today say that 24-bit sampling doesn't work. I haven't had any trouble with it in Ubuntu using Audacity. The ports are all gold colored, so I had to appear at the pinout just before reaching behind my machine to plug in speakers and mics. I made some Sharpie and white-out marks to assist distinguish the ports.

My initial Claro card by them, went poor in about four-five months, DTS encoder quit working. It's been about 1 year because that happened although, they INSISTED on writing much more and much more and much more emails, demanding tests on this and that be performed, I'm blind, and Can not do most of what they asked, and they will NOT call, or accept calls under ANY circumstances. Makes it hard for us blind people. They are Lastly RMAing it now, Quite a few months right after problem. OR at least they will, as Soon as I can find someone to come here and pull card for me, it's in a server, not typical case, Extremely tough to get at. (Rack Mount).NO 2 pin internal digital output to go to Video card so as to support audio over HDMI.Too high-priced for what you get. When You add up the quite poor access to Customer Service, the reliability, and the lack of PLIIx(z) support, not to mention the lack of a two pin internal digital output to go to the Video card for audio over HDMI, it's a POOR Purchase for 90$. This card WORKS in Windows 7! I've owned it for a year and a half now and it works in XP, Linux and Each 32- AND 64-bit Windows 7! If you can't get it to function then you have to examine your configuration for conflicts and I'll bet the source of any conflict will be with your OTHER drivers, believe it or not! Individuals who won't troubleshoot their own PCs, or won't commit to studying how. True, this card may not function with your PC. But that IS due to what is already in your box, not the mistaken belief you got a bad card. Creative doesn't function with all setups either, but other folks swear on them. HT Omega is one of the couple of out there using C-Media chips, which IMO are the Very best sound chips accessible. Stop ripping up this card! Paired with a terrific set of speakers this card will ROCK! Striker is one of the very finest values in PC sound, so quit becoming so lazy and either upgrade your speakers or Discover your rig!
