Purchased two of these to expand a raid 5 set to five 1tb disks. The drives have had no issue, they were recognized by freenas and integrated into a 5tb raid array without incident. |

This is third generation of their hard drives. It has 2 platters design and is very cold, quiet and power efficient. Drive temp in my computer is 28-29 C. This drive has 32 MB buffer and not 16 MB as it says in description - here is the right description of this drive - Deskstar 7K1000.C HDS721010CLA332 (0F10383) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb 3.5 |

Picked up two of these on sale. Deployed one in an external enclosure for pumping up my PVR capacity. So far no problems and noise is not bad and only noticable when the room is completely quiet even when its being written too by the PVR.Will have to wait and see if the drive can hadnle the I/O from the PVR. I have had good luck with Hitachi drives |

use this on an usb 2.0 external enclosure for video storage. when i transfer over 30 gb data it is limited to the usb 2.0 speed around 30-35 mb/sec. what surprise me is when i transfer one single file of 1 gb the brust speed is like 130mb per then slow down to around 80-90 mb/sec. very impressive an happy with the performance.
