Cons: None what so ever as far as I can see or here!
Pros: Wow! I used this drive to replace an HP portable hard drive in their case and it works great and very easy to replace. It formatted and was recognized instantly. And the shipping and service from Newegg is the icing on this cake! Comment:
Now that I know, I NEWEGG! |

Good Drive
Cons: None that I can think of.
Pros: Fast, quiet, inexpensive, good capacity, cool running. Comment:
To the individual who said their drive was noisy; you may have a bad drive or other issues (power supply maybe). This is a very quiet drive. You should not be having the noise issues you described. |

Fairly Quick, but Noisy
Cons: NOISY. It sounds like this HD never stops working! It frequently makes noises as if it's booting up again or something. There's maybe 5-10 seconds of silence before it starts making noise again (sometimes louder than others).
Pros: Fast for the priceDependable Brand Comment:
I'm satisfied with my purchase for the most part, I just wish it was quieter. |

This is great price for a fast and reliable hard drive. The drive is slightly faster than my old Samsung F1, but not by much. |

Tivo upgrade drive
Cons: No cons so far
Pros: Bought this drive as an upgrade for my Tivo HD on recommendation of the tivocommunity.com site (thread 370784). I followed the instructions there to install and had no issues. Drive is quiet and so far is performing as advertised. Comment:

still fine
Cons: None.
Pros: The first one worked well, so I bought another. The new one works as well as her older sister. Comment:
Cool, quiet, aggressively priced, and (at least so far) reliable. Hard to beat. |

3 out of 4 ain't bad...right?
Cons: I purchased 4 of them and one of them was DOA. It never powered up. Hitachi made me send back to them on my dime (8 bucks to ship). They also want you to pack in specific types of pacakges...you can't use bubble wrap, you have to use a box with shock absorbing foam cut out so that the hard drive fits snug, with the hard drive in a static proof bag. If you don't ship it that way, they say that they will void your warranty.
Pros: Hard drives are inexpensive. Work decent in a 4 bay NAS device. Good transfer rates. Comment:
Hitachi customer support and warranty say they are great (3 year warranty on the drives), but it's like a quote from the movie Tommy Boy, "I can cr@p in a box and stamp it guaranteed, but then all you got is a guaranteed piece of cr@p." |

Best Value Drive
Cons: None.
Pros: Extremely cheap price. The drive is fairly fast and quite. I have it in a Slim desktop case and cannot notice it spinning even when it tries to load a 5gb movie file. It also has a very large capacity. Comment:
I wish I bought one of more of them while they were still $79.99. |

So far so good.
Cons: I wish these would be the same size as SAS drives and with the same price of 3.5" drives.
Pros: Quiet, run cool. 32 meg cache, 3 year warranty. Comment:
I gave 5 eggs based on the specs and the performance I have experienced so far. I have never owned a hitachi desktop drive. It has a 3 year warranty. I use two of these drives for my home server in an itx case. |

Please, Buy These.
Cons: These being the larger capacity model includes more than one platter, thus more mechanical parts. I chose to raid0 4x 500gbs with this in mind, but i'd still highly recommend the 7k1000.c series overall.
Pros: I am currently running 4 of the 500gb model in raid0. By Design, the 500gb variants are single platter. Using a measly ICH10R, i blew past 500mb/s read/writes, short stroked. Comment:
I'd have gone with the samsung f3 had they not been out of stock, but i do not regret these hdds for a second.Best performance/capacity/cost right now, these are truly the sweet spot for hdds. |

Two-platter design. Very good value for the price. Please see my forum posting for benchmarking results. Aside from performance, the drive runs cool and relatively quiet. |

Cons:none so far
Pros:pricecapacity Comment:
Picked up two of these on sale. Deployed one in an external enclosure for pumping up my PVR capacity. So far no problems and noise is not bad and only noticable when the room is completely quiet even when its being written too by the PVR.Will have to wait and see if the drive can hadnle the I/O from the PVR. I have had good luck with Hitachi drives |

fine, so far
Cons: Should have bought more of them while on sale.
Pros: Works well so far. Quiet and runs very cool - possibly the coolest-running drive I've ever had. Comment:
Unfortunately, because of that 1.024 factor in conversion of bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, and gigabytes, this 1 TB drive actually formats to 931 GB. Not an Hitachi problem per se, but an annoyance nonetheless. |

D.O.A.
Cons: Hitachi
Pros: 1TB Comment:
I ordered and as usual Newegg products arrive in a timely manner. This particular drive didnt work, the drive would not spin, win 7 would not intitialize because the disk didnt spin. I have a 160gig older Hitachi and the drive went bad after 1 1/2yrs. Newegg is sending another so hopefully this one will be in working order when it gets here. I STILL LOVE NEW EGG...! This site is still the best site to purchase computer products from. I had a build from scratch 4yrs ago and only spent $400 and change. I will write review when new drive arrives. |

Great drive..
Cons: None yet..
Pros: I'm not going to list techspecs, you guys already know those. I am a current college student, and this is a GREAT "cheap" hard drive.Mobility being the prime objective in college, I have this rigged as an external drive. This keeps it exceptionally cool. It has no problem connecting to my laptop (mac), and after re-formatting it was good to go.The main use of my current drive is store copies of ripped movies. I have about 735GBs left, and plan on filling that soon.I am already considering buying a second one. It would be for mostly storing work, which is going to be very important in my choice field.I highly recommend this hard drive. Comment:
This products works fabulously with the Thermaltake BlackX dock. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153071&cm_re=hard_drive_enclosure_3.5-_-17-153-071-_-Product) I plan on just being able to swap out harddrives once backing up work becomes necessary. |

Good Drive
Cons: Would be nice if they dropped another 10-20 bux.
Pros: Bought these as dump drives for backup of critical data servers for an enterprise environment. New regulations require data to be kept for extended periods off site, these cheap 1TB drives work great for long archiving over typical tape, esp with the new regulations requiring HD's and NOT tape. Comment:
Hitachi drives....their not WD or Seadates.. their a good drive. |

This is the main drive in my system, and while it's a great value for the capacity; this drive is extremely noisy. As another reviewer noted, it sounds like the drive is constantly working. I may end up replacing this drive with something different and using it strictly for backup/archiving.
