I was amazed at how simple it is to assemble. Slide the lid open, drop the drive in, slide the lid closed, and you're completed. It's nicely developed and nicely executed. The situation could stand to be a bit a lot more sturdy, but it's not a massive deal

It operates great None so far It converts the size of your hdd.It doesn't overheat your hdd.Connection points, pins, etc are all super strong -- no bad wiring to speak of.

I had never ever used 1 of these before, so I didn't know what to expect. The SSD just fits inside and when you close the door the connections slide in. It was uncomplicated and took only a minute to install. None

Incredibly uncomplicated to "install" my SSD drive I purchased into the enclosure. The vents are good and as a different person had said, it looks like it was designed for my case. I would recommend this to anybody acquiring a SSD or wanting to use their SATA difficult drive from a laptop that died or use a laptop drive rather of a 3.5" drive (don't ask why an individual would but I'm certain someone will/has already.) It didn't take my drive and location it inside of the enclosure. No but actually, none. I have the Cooler Master HAF 932 (forgot the exact model) but anyway, the big 贿렣 case. The enclosure fit perfectly on the mounting bays that came with the computer. I have had no difficulty but also haven't genuinely to test it out to see how the SSD would carry out. I envision the identical. Good job and would recommend/buy once again.

Nice design, uncomplicated to use. If you have a Lian-Li case the mounting bracket that comes with the ssd may possibly not perform in the slide in rails. Looks like they are developed just to screw into a 3.5" bay. This factor is so basic. The only reason I could assume not to like would be if it was DOA.

It kinda performs. When you look beneath the Health tab in HD Tune Pro, there are tons of Ultra DMA CRC Error Counts. This error is since of a poor cable or connection. Taking the drive out and connecting directly solved my problem. I also believed i required this converter so i could connect Sata II power and information cables. I didn't want it at all. My drive was a 2.five notebook drive, but had regular Sata II energy and information connections. This was my fault for not researching sufficient. The converter feels affordable and has sharp edges inside. I bought a various converter in town for 7USD and its just a metal converter, which has space for 2 two.five" drives that was far superior. I have no clue why this converter has a high price tag. Its not worth 5USD. This drive adds a different pcb board and connection which just added to my troubles. Possibly i jumped the gun on this purchase, but im not going to rma mainly because its a waste of time, power, and paper. When i get a product for beneath 50USD, i keep it and tell everyone not to get it or keep away from it. I also stop shopping for goods produced by stated business mainly because when it is all stated and accomplished, reviews/rmas/warrantys don't mean as significantly as plain ol' "I'm taking my buisness to another manuf."

Creates a 3.5 inch box around your 2.five inch drive permitting you to mount it Precisely like a standard desktop drive. Before this came out I searched and searched and was unable to locate anything that would manage this task while. SSD manufacturers need to incorporate something similar to this or comparable to western digital's verlociraptor drive with every single SSD you buy. The majority of these drives at time of writing are purchased for desktops. My 5x3.five hot swappable raid cage forces 3.5 compliance. I searched discovered nothing. This came out and it solved the problem permitting me to essentially use the SSD in the way I wanted. If you have an SSD and strategy to use it on a desktop get this contraption... unless you want to use non-standard mounting brackets OR like me require to comply with 3.five due to 'sliding into location' hot swappable drive bays.

Uncomplicated style. Great concept for 2.5" Noteboook HDDs. Absolutely pointless for any SSD. Heat output on any SSD is virtually absolutely nothing and you d not need to have any vents.Also it only holds one drive. Get a 2.5" to 3.five" mounting bracket for 1ǚ of the expense. That'll hold at most two SSDs.

Does the job. Clever, but easy design. Effortless to use. Looks fantastic. Seems quite nicely-engineered and solid. Price, I suppose. It does the job nicely, no doubt about that, but perhaps not fairly worth the Jackson I put down for it. I will nonetheless disagree with those calling it a rip-off given that it does offer some advantages (above) and, seriously, it's not THAT expensive guys. Also, your SATA cables will not snap in, but they will fit snugly. If it were aluminum and had cable snaps, it would be great. For those curious about the further "interface" degrading speed and reliability: I'm no electrical engineer but when I look at the extremely straightforward PCB inside this unit all I see are conductors (or whatever they're referred to as) operating from the drive interface to the exterior. There are no chips or processors in there as far as I can tell that could slow you down or trigger complications. Anyway, just to put the matter to rest in my head I went ahead and benchmarked my SSD inside this converter and then "naked" and, guess what, there was totally no adjust in speed...

Ideal for a Mac Pro where you slide the drive in. Way much better than how I rigged the last 1 with double sided tape. The adapter that came with my Intel SSD was useless. This 1 rocks. None that I can see. Possibly I'm very easily amused, but I loved how the two.5" drive fits into the adapter and locks into spot as you close it. No screws needed for that portion - super easy!

worked fine for six months failed immediately after six months. Challenging drive indicated failure(OCZ 60 GB). Removed from icy dock and connected directly; hard drive was ok.

None I didn't actually read what I was obtaining here (my fault), I just assumed it was a nice aluminum mounting bracket. But instead it puts another interface in between the SSD and MB, a horrible, horrible idea and terrible item. This absolutely will slow down your transfer speed. This item doesn't have 1 superior point, it's low cost plastic, encloses your SSD so it gets zero airflow and puts one more PCB interface and connector inbetween the SSD and MB. I got scammed, and cant' believe some persons are posting positive about this? Clearly a lot of persons who don't know what they are doing here.... don't trust user critiques.

Works great with my Intel 80 GB SSD. Feels solid and has very good airflow. I wish it had direct connect of the cables to the drive instead of through a pass-by way of. Seems like it need to price a bit less for what you get.

I bought the Silverstone SDP08 for eight bucks elsewhere and it handles TWO SSD drives at the exact same time, will not block airflow to the drives, and doesn't add a different interface to mix... and I nonetheless believe that eight bucks was a bit high-priced for a piece of metal with holes in it.I guess it's just capitalism at perform - but I'm already paying lots of cash for an SSD, don't assume that I'm going to spend ษ for a piece of metal to hold it in location.

I thought about getting a Patriot SSD enclosure from one more on the net retailer, but decided not to given that this Icy Dock seemed to do just the job for me, and due to the cost of the Patriot and it's two slots for SSDs. Possibly later in a year or two, I might think about to get 1 of those, but may well just go ahead and get an additional 1 of these, with a great SSD that is on sell.

Icy Dock worked perfectly from the get go. My SSD lined up perfectly in the dock, and the dock fit perfectly in my Antec case. Cost - never feels superior to have to shell out ฤ just for a mount Slick marketing of the name 'Icy Dock'. Heat really isn't an issue with my SSD, but I don't believe this dock would do anything to help heat disipation, due to the fact it's all plastic.

Ordered a pair of these for a pair of SSDs going into a desktop. Best fit - excellent construction. I wouldn't feel about mounting the drives without having it. Nothing Worth every single penny.
