Intel 510 Series 120GB Solid State Drive SSD 2.5IN SATA 6GB/S Elm Crest
Cons:Very, very expensive

Pros:Super fast, reliable like no other, it's an Intel
Comment:
Installed this SSD in an HP G60 over 2 years ago and have gone from Win7 Pro to Win8 Pro to Win8.1 Pro since then and I cannot lie that this SSD has done nothing but blown my mind with it's speed and reliability. It wasn't always perfect; in the first few months it would lock up occasionally for about 20 seconds or so every few weeks, but it has not done so for over a year and a half. (Firmware updated itself? I never did anything to it! Who knows..) This model is faster than the 520 and 530 series from Intel (I have them all) which would explain the higher price. This is the finest SSD Intel has produced to date in my opinion.

Quite Rapidly SSD, Operates Fantastic. Had to Install in on Sata 2. then switch it more than to 3., it kept freezing, Almost certainly a driver concern. Good SSD, On the other hand actual word performance, I noticed no distinction between this drive and my OCZ Vertex two 3.five 90GB Sata two.. In-reality I feel my OCZ drive may well be a little faster in actual globe.

Speedy SSD. No drive failures to complain about. Actually fast boot up time and big plan launch. I had difficulty porting my old principal partition to this drive. Ran into a strange blue screen through Windows7-64 boot. Ended up undertaking fresh set up of OS partition to fix the problem. I nonetheless have no notion what went wrong.

Fast SSD. Comes with a three.five" adapter and SATA cable with latch. Cost but that is expected from a SSD. My preceding SSD was a OCZ Vertex 60GB and this is a incredibly noticeable difference. My only regret is not waiting for the OCZ Vertex 3 but I did not really feel like waiting for 1 element to finish up my make.

Quickly, easy set up, nice accessories Occasionally will pause when opening apps which surprises me considering that I upgraded from the x-25M 160GB SSD which zipped by way of almost everything. This SSD is rapid but "sometimes" not as rapidly as my old X-25M, can't figure it out. . May switch more than to OCZ Vertex three when its released if pricing is comparable. Once more, this guy is quick but not as quickly as I expected.

Comment:
The drive is extremely quickly as many SSDs are. Applications open really swiftly. The tools that come with it are good for setting up the drive for optimal performance. It only scored a 7.1 on the Windows benchmark for drive IO. I had a G2 on a laptop score a 7.8. It appears that overall performance has gone backwards on the G3s. I'm wondering if I shouldn't have waited for the G3s to come out. From what I've noticed, there is absolutely nothing noticeably different between the two. It is still a wonderful drive, but if you can get a G2 on sale, I'd just go with that.

34nm! Rapid, Quiet, low energy, and the most reputable drive on the industry! SATA II & III compliant. Installation was a breeze, been running it due to the fact original release. - NONE I purchased this drive over OCZ, Corsair, Critical due to the reliability. The speed is with in striking distance of the "enthusiasts" drives. Intel SSDs have a failure rate of about 1 half of a % where the other individuals have a two%-three% failure price. Why get one thing to have significantly less than a 10% overall performance obtain but six occasions the failure rate!?

Performance is wonderful. I currently personal an X25 SSD drive from Intel that I use in my other Computer and have often been impressed with it.This new SATA III SSD drive is a bit quicker in overall performance. I use it as my Windows 7 OS drive (like I did with my X25) and hope to have similar performance that I see with the X25. At this point, price/size is often going to be a con. When 1TB drives grow to be available (and economical), these kinds of drives will be the only ones to opt for.

I've now bought four of these drives (installed three so far) and they have zero troubles. Intel makes fantastic SSDs that are rock solid in terms of reliability. Cost could be greater, but offered the reliability+Speed on these SSD's, I'm going to spend what they offer. I won't comment on a specific competitor, but they are the reason I now use Intel exclusively.

1st SSD. This and the new B3 mobo's have been the final factor I required to wait for. This point is rapidly. Have mine installed on my Raven RV02-e and it appears amazing. I did not use the intel plate. Its kinda bulky and doesnt look proper, but luckily my case came with a nice one particular. seq: 435write: 205 Cost. I absolutely didn't want to spend 跠 for a SSD. But nobody does. And Appear at us. WE DO anyway. No driver on cd. Not even confident there is a driver. I installed Marvell driver and seems to be operating fine. Transform to AHCI in bios.

It has a reputation for becoming reliable and has SATA3 help ValueAlmost certainly not the fastest SSD out there Initial I'd like to say that I use the drive in a laptop that supports only SATA 3GB/sI had a Vertex two 120gb which failed immediately after two weeks and I exchanged it for the intel 510 120gb(paid additional ๖). The Vertex felt really a bit snappier in overall performance. Windows booted a couple of seconds more rapidly and iTunes opened in three sec. flat vs. five-6 sec. with the 510. I sort of regret the switch even thou the Vertex failed but in my opinion it was a bigger upgrade in speed from a 500gb seagate momentus 7200. Atto final resultsVertex two r268w236intel 510r270w219The bench outcomes don't appear that substantially distinct but the Vertex felt a bit snappier.

My first 510 bricked in a few months, but after much searching I learnt that there are several sleep settings that are detrimental to an SSD. Since adjusting those, no problems. This is just an SSD thing. As far as the 510 specifically, A+

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFast! Integrated 3.five adapter, which considering the price tag of SSD, need to come with ALL SSD drives. With the boost in speed comes productivity enhancements, and we all know what that means - much less time on the personal computer ;( Other thoughts? Hmmmf. Effectively, I was going to take a walk in the park right now, but I stated nahhhh. A single day I'll get about to fixing that garage door, but it can wait a little although longer... - speed- size is adequate Obtaining to consider about minimizing writes to the drive. It's requiring me to do some items differently so the majority of disk writes go to a velociraptor that I have as a information drive. (I want this drive to final) I hadn't jumped on the SSD bandwagon until I purchased this drive. The size is sufficient for a method drive with installed programs. It's the speed that makes this drive awesome. My Computer goes from bios post to login screen in 10s or less. Right after hitting enter to log in the method is ready to use ahead of the fade-in can comprehensive. Finally a storage medium that can keep up with these days's memory and cpus.

Rapidly, quiet, modest kind aspect and Intel reliability. Pair this drive with a good P67 key board and life will be fantastic. Intel introduced native SATA 3 support with the P67 chipset and I knowledgeable a nice performance increase over my X58 major board which utilizes a Marvell 88SE9xx controller to implement the 6 GB/s SATA three ports. Intel advertises up to 450 GB/s read performance for this drive and I am acquiring really close to that number at 426 MB/s. The ideal I could do with the Marvell controller was 342 GB/s and the Marvell introduces other issues. Don't get me incorrect, X58 is excellent it's just that the P67 chipset with native SATA three suport is a better match for this drive. None. I moved this drive to an ASUS P8P67 Pro principal board to try and solve an challenge I was getting with the Marvell controller on my X58 setup. The Native SATA three driver capability solved a software package incompatibility problem I was getting with the Intel SSD Toolbox and I also got a good enhance in performance to boot. My previous review of the Intel 510 drive goes into more detail on the Marvell controller issue if you're curious. I purchased this SSD about two year and a half ago and its very reliable. Thanks to Intel QA. However I think that its possible today to find better alternative at lower price. Upgrading from classic hard drive to SSD mean a huge performance gain in application loading.
