Great CPU for high performance gaming or render rigs. much better than the 4770k in terms of overclocking

Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Quad Core HT 4GHZ/4.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 8MB Cache Retail
Cons:Expensive - but you do get what you pay for

Pros:Fast q cool - stellar HD video editing and rendering
Comment:
I bought this in combination with Gigabyte Z97-UD3H mobo to replace my old Core-2 Quad rig. My primary reason for the i7 is HD video (using Cyberlink PowerDirector 12). The performance difference is astounding - rendering times for 30m AVHD project have come down from 2 hours to 20m. Cyberlink uses all 4 cores and the virtual cores together, so it's a real data cruncher. No over-clocking yet, although I am running water-cooling (primarily for silence). Max temp recorded after 20m of 95-100% CPU m4.4Ghz was 69c. Based on this, there's scope to clock it a little.

Cons:- Loud stock fan- Cost a lot more more than a Core i5- Heating much more than a low power version.

Pros:- One the fastest desktop CPU.- Not too expensive.
Comment:
If you want one the fastest Intel CPU, this one does not cost so much and will give satisfaction. My disappointment lies with the noisy stock fan. I haven't heard an Intel stock fan do so much noise in years. Had I known, I would have ordered an alternate cooler or chosen one of the low-power version of the Core i5 or i7.

Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Quad Core HT 4GHZ/4.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 8MB Cache Retail
Cons:HeatCan't get to 5Ghz

Pros:Fast
Comment:
Excellent processor for multithreaded applications. Downside is that you won't get much of an overclocked, even on water. People seem to max out at 4.8Ghz. Got mine to 4.7 but at almost 1.3V and heat is an issue, gets up to 80C+.

Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Quad Core HT 4GHZ/4.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 8MB Cache Retail
Cons:Can't hit the 5Ghz intel promised.

Pros:Highest clock speed available
Comment:
Maybe i'm not fine tuning every last option on my motherboard but the furthest I was able to push this CPU across all cores was 4.7Ghz stableStill very impressive and a massive improvement from my old I7 960 with the SATA 3 upgrade and 16GB of memory paired with it.Streaming online as well as playing battlefield 4 has been seamless, If you're looking for a cost effective single CPU workstation or the ultimate gaming PC this is the way to go.

Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Quad Core HT 4GHZ/4.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 8MB Cache Retail
Cons:Initial launch price was high

Pros:Fastest i7 produced to date
Comment:
I upgraded from an i7-860 due to the fact I wanted a mobo with newer features and more connectivity. I paired this with a Z97 Deluxe and I am thrilled with the results. I am running at stock speeds right now even though I have a fairly major water cooled loop. I plan on getting my OC on once I get all my usual programs installed on the system. I've read the best I can expect is 4.8 but likely 4.7 is going to be max. That's about 0.7Ghz better than what I was getting on the old 860 so a good speed boost for when I am doing encoding.

Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Quad Core HT 4GHZ/4.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 8MB Cache Retail
Cons:Price

Pros:4ghz, unlocked
Comment:
This is basically a 4770k that has been slightly overclocked. I think the unlocked i5 (or Pentium!) is a better option for most people, but for some programs the hyperthreading will help.

Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Quad Core HT 4GHZ/4.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 8MB Cache Retail
Cons:-5ghz is a myth-not much overclocking headroom

Pros:-Fast-Unlocked-A tad cooler than 4770k
Comment:
Purchased this after selling a 4670k to a friend. I gained a fair amount of fps in Crysis 3 as it actually uses hyper threading. Managed to get 4.6ghz at 1.25 volts. 4.7ghz required 1.32 volts so I backed it down. All in all a great cpu, but no reason to upgrade unless you really need the latest or are running something extremely old. I moved from an i7 930 from many years back and did not notice a massive change overall. If you want the best "new" stuff wait until the fall when x99 platform launches.

Cons:False advertizing by intel about the 5 gHz 'on air' OC

Pros:Speed demon!Runs faily cool
Comment:
Sincerely, I changed my CPU only because I had the opportunity to sell my 'old CPU - i7-2600k' to a friend. The 2600k was an awesome CPU. Would run x 4.4 without a sweat. This CPU is fast on stock. First attempts to OC reach 4.6 gHz with low temps and voltage thanks to a custom water cool loop. No intention to go further. The truth is I gain next to nothing by switching to the new king of the hill apart from the bragging rights.
