Cons:Price!Isn't stable when OC above 4.4GHz (Java, Flash, x264 all crash or error out)

Pros:Seems to work as advertised when not overclocking...
Comment:
I must have received a poorly binned chip because it is not stable when OC above 4.4GHz. Temps are in line (using H100i with washer mod on Hero7 MB). At 4.4GHz it remains stable with 1.2v but even feeding it 1.35v at 4.5GHz doesn't help... I've spent dozens of hours reading OC guides and researching but nothing I've found has worked to keep it stable beyond 4.4GHz.I spent the extra money for an unlocked processor with the expectation that it would overclock above it's turbo speed but this one falls short and for this I am knocking off 2 stars. I am highly disappointed in Intel for passing this chip off as a K series.Other than the disappointment in being unable to OC beyond the turbo speed the chip seems to perform as expected so unless I fork over another 25$ to Intel for the OC insurance I am stuck with this lackluster product.

Cons:Stock fan seems a bit weak.

Pros:Extremely fast, power efficient.
Comment:
Coming from an i7 920, this is a huge step up, so no complaints so far. The 4ghz stock speed is impressive and will definitely try and max this out on gaming.

This is my first CPU upgrade in a long time coming from an i5 650 Clarkdale. It rocks straight out of the box, I have my 4790k over clocked to 4.8 at 1.325v and its running cool and fast with no problems with liquid cooling.

Liked the fact that it is unlocked so that I can experiment with overclocking the CPU at a later date, but so far haven't really found a need to yet as the CPU is more than sufficient for my needs.

Comment:
Coming from a 2500K i5 I was not expecting too much of a difference, but combined with Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 16GB, an ASUS Maximus VII Hero ATX motherboard and a Crucial MX100 256GB SSD it feels like a rocketship!

Cons:- Heat, stock HSF inadequate

Pros:- Pound for pound the most performance per core per dollar you can get.- Quick enough for anything you can throw at it
Comment:
I won't lie - I've been a die hard AMD customer since I picked up a secondhand K6 Duron and gaped in shock as it ran rings around my much more expensive and higher clocked Intel of the day. I've since owned enough AMD silicon to tile a shower, and for good reason - who doesn't like more for less? Unfortunately for AMD, that gap has been steadily closing for several years now.In terms of single-threaded workloads, this chip is untouchable and makes a joke out of the X4 965 that it replaced in my machine. AMD's solution is to throw more cores at the problem, but not everything on this planet is so nicely threaded. The only way that the Intel/AMD fight seems to be equal is in benchmarks, which is the "perfect world" and in no way indicative of average use. It's hard for me to admit, but the 4790k was a no-brainer in a desktop/gaming PC situation.TLDR; For right now, it's the best quad core for your money.

Pros:- hyperthreading- very fast
Comment:
Upgraded from a single core Athlon xp 3200. I can finally play Dwarf Fortress without any lag now. The included heatsink fan is an embarrassment though. It came with a broken plastic part right out of the box. Definitely recommend to pair this one up with an aftermarket cooler.

Pros:Fast, quiet, cool (with Noctua NH-D14, stock coolers are crap)
Comment:
Stepped up from a 4GHz i7 930 and I'm pleasantly surprised by the performance increase. On stock speed with the Noctua NH-D14, Prime95 only takes it to 50 Celsius. Lots of headroom for overclocking.

Cons:Overclocking to 4.6ghz doable on stock fan, but not recommended, make sure to get an upgraded CPU or liquid cooler for this one.

Pros:Very fastCooler than my old i3 550 3.2Ghz dual processorOn stock fan in Antec 300 series case running 27C idle and as high as 60C max load for duration but I haven't received my CPU Cooler yet!

Had this puppy up to 5.2 GHz :)before it started to go WonkyBacked off, and Now running nicely O/C but not quite that much.Very, Very happy with the speed that I have with this particular CPU.Another nice feature when you are not fully utilizing it, the extra cores can be shut down, and the CPU runs very cool, and sucks very little power. Idle (Liquid cooled) I am running about 32 Degrees, which makes for a quiet Box, and a Happy Wife. When the power is needed there is always Turbo Mode too!I am now running everything flat out, with no lag whatsoever!

What can I say except this CPU is fast. I went from burning / encoding a 2 hour video that took a good hour to burn with my old Core2Duo 3.0 Ghz CPU to maybe 30 minutes (ish). Personally I didn't need it unlocked, but the price was the same as a locked one, so ...why not buy it? I'm happy and would recommend.

Cons:runs hot without really good cooler

Pros:Fast
Comment:
This is a really fast cpu. Great for gaming. In this cpu price range the only other option is the i7 5820k, but the X99 build would end up costing much more due to the prices of DDR4 ram right now as well as the more expensive X99 motherboards. Add to the fact that games don't run any better on the 6 core 5820 than they do on the 4790k, and it makes it cleear that a cheaper 4790k build is a good choice for gamers. (i5 4690k would be good too)BUT .... This cpu runs HOT. Be sure to get a really good aftermarket cooler. Even if you are not overclocking. Even a hyper 212 evo isn't enough. I am using the best air cooler around, the Noctua, NH D15, and I would not go any less than that with this cpu. It's hot, be warned.

Cons:A little hot

Pros:Fast, fast, fast
Comment:
Intel's top LGA 1150 CPU, unlocked, special Devil's Canyon design. It's extremely, extremely fast. Not much more to say about it, if you can afford it and you didn't want to go with the X99 platform, there's nothing faster. Single core it's faster than the Haswell-E CPUs anyway. It gets toasty for sure though. I upgraded from an AMD FX-6300, a 5 W TDP CPU, to this (88 W TDP). Temperatures should be similar with my excellent Scythe Mugen 4 cooler and at idle they're the same - just under 30 C. However at load it gets up to 65 C - my FX-6300 never broke 50 C.Given how insanely fast it is, no big deal!
