This product works for Windows 7... although I had to download the driver online with a slow wireless connection; I've had nothing but good service from this product

Speed
Comment:
The max speed for USB 2.0 is 480Mbs so you can not get the full 1000Mbs.

Simple Installation
Comment:
The installation of these is simple. After inserting the adatper, you will get NEW HARDWARE FOUND, and Windows will seek a driver. Direct the search to the CD and Windows will complete the install. To be certain it is completely installed, check the Device Manager and check under NETWORK ADAPTERS, where you should see the unit listed. ASIX is the chipset. Updated drivers can be downloaded from our wbesite or call support at 626-336-6363

Bought 2 units, one good, one bad.
Comment:
I bought two of these units at the same time, one works good, the other works for about 25 to 30 minutes and gets very hot then shuts down. Packaging is the enclosed plastic that you have to cut apart to get into then throw away after packaging everything comes in today, and returns are not accepted without original packaging, so I am out of luck. All I can say is you have a 50 50 chance of getting a working unit, if you can deal with that then go for it..

Item Being Returned
Comment:
This is probably a good item, but the one I received would not work on any of 4 computers. In properties for the Driver it always said: Can Not Start (Code 10). The manual that comes with it is very inacurate. It says to install software first using Autorun or click on Setup.Exe. Problem is that the disk does not contain Autorun or Setup.Exe. The device must be installed and the Found Harware must find the files on the CD or get it from Microsoft Update. I did this many time using both methods. It installs but does not work.

Not quite what I wanted - NOT GOOD for Vista
Comment:
First let me say that if you run WIndows XP this product works fine. Exactly as advertised and a fast sure connection. However if you run Vista the trouble starts. I purchased these adapters to provide jumbo frame support for 2 HP desktops running Vista. ALthough the drivers on the disk and on the website show that they support Jumbo frames they ONLY support Jumbo Frames under XP, NOT Vista. Drivers were stable and functional. I did achieve gigabit speeds in both Vista and XP But I have other adapters that support JUMBO frames and get a 2-3 times improvement in throughput using Jumbo Frames. I am NOT satisfied with this product.

Works great
Comment:
I am loving how fast it works with my satellite connection. My computer gives me the blue screen of death when I start it sometimes and I have to reboot. It does that if my external hard drive is plugged into the usb port when I start it too. Takes longer to start but works great when it gets going. Anyone have an idea why this happens. I still love the thing. Couldn't get by without it.

Can't Get It Working!
Comment:
The driver installs, but when the ethernet cable is plugged in, it crashes the computer - every time! I am sure it WOULD be a good thing, but I can't get it to work! Can anyone who knows more about these things than I do help? Any and all suggestions are welcome, I would love to be able to give it a great review!!!

Simple to use and fast
Comment:
All I did was plug it into a USB 2.0 port. I then installed the drivers. The network wire is plugged into a Gigabit switch on the other end. The USB card connected at Gigabit speeds right away. Now, I am able to access my network at much faster speeds.

Once loaded smooth sailing!
Comment:
Works great once you get the driver softward loaded. I followed the advice given by an earlier reviewer, and once the driver was loaded it worked fine! Mfg really needs to work out the softward issue!

USB to Ethernet
Comment:
This product works great! On some computers it doesn't work when you first plug it in, but if I just unplug it and plug it back in, it always works. This is he second one of these I've purchased, and the first one is still working 2 years later! Excellent item to have and vital for any technician.

Excellant for the Price
Comment:
Don't know yet about longevity, but the performance is awesome. Really sped up my connection, i think because of the large packet support, and duplex. Installation instructions say run setup.exe before plugging in the device, but there is no setup on the disk, you have to plug it in and let Vista work at it to get the drivers. Will Definitely check out Sabrent's other offerings

Great Product
Comment:
My motherboard's NIC went out and I could not get a PCI NIC to work. I decided to try a USB to ethernet adapter as a last resort to get connectivity. Turns out it works great! For the extremists though, keep in mind this baby is only USB 2.0, which is 480mbps instead of the advertised 1gbps, not that it matters much; 480mbps is more than enough for most connections. I would recommend it to anyone who's motherboard network functionality breaks or who needs a useful little tool!

Perfect for use

It is definitely plug and play. I plugged it in and restarted the MacBook running 10.5.6. The adapter was immediately recognized as a usable port and connected to the internet and printers. Very reasonable price for what it does.

Works great
Comment:
I actually bought this because I was having problems with my internet, I knew it was my modem but the guy at Time Warner insisted it was my computer. Of course it didn't fix the problem, but I left it installed after they brought my new modem. Don't ask me why or how but my connection actually got better. No problem with Hulu or any other streaming site. Thanks for another great product.

Works
Comment:
I use it on a HP laptop that I usually keep sitting in my office, and occasionally my wife and I use both the Dell desktop and HP laptop together. Anyway, one day I says to myself: "Self, why, if I have this in the office, do I not hardwire it up, instead of using the wireless (Linksys 1G N400)? Then I won't have to wait for connection, but have it immediately?" [easy enough to use the wireless USB adapter when I want to be "mobile" -- that is, around the house. So I got this adapter to connect to 1G router. As someone else said, you can't get 1G on a USB port, but it still does very well (300-400). And no halts, slips, dropoffs, etc. Just plain works. Every day, ever time. I've had it for a couple of months, now, and have had no problems, whatsoever. I didn't have a driver problem, as some have had. I'm using XP on the laptop, and it actually "plugged and played." I'm glad I got it. Works great with my setup.

KINAMAX USB-G1000 USB 2.0 to Ethernet Adapter
Comment:
Excellent product for office applications (file transfers, email, etc.) Where it falls down is certain multimedia streaming applications. I can't get it to work with my Slingbox player or with certain video streaming web sites like hulu.com. That being said, it works perfectly with Windows Media Player. I keep all my media files on my local file server (NAS) and all files stream perfectly from there. The last part is that it can cause BSD crashed. I know it's the driver set for the device (traced the stack). When I do simple operations, no problem. But when I do multiple things at once (copy a file, stream a video, and browse the web for example) I usually get an IRQ_LESS_THAN BSD crash. Worth the $30, but you need to know it's limits.
