I've already burned a dozen DVDs digitized from old VHS tapes and only had one bad burn. I blame the medium, not the drive. Quick, quiet, and a comparable price. I would definitely recommend this drive.

This is a great drive, and performs as promised. Only glitch is the silver trim around the front is very loose, and slips off a tad when you hold the case to turn the unit on or to eject.

The unit works great, too bad I had to find free DVD burning software as it did not come with any, even tho the installation disc claimed otherwise. Might want the manufacture to read its own claims then actually look to see if its true.

I use it on my note book it works fine so far no over heating no noise. It is only a month old so only time will tell. I use it then shut it off when not needed.

I was very happy when I received this DVD burner on Sept. 16th.I could use my Mac software library again after a year. I hooked it up and it worked immediately. Yesterday I used it for the 4th time during a 20 minute presentation and guess what, it stopped and smoke was coming out of it and that was the end of the burner. I'm currently not living in the US which makes it very costly to ship it back. I won't ever buy a Kanguru or recommend one. It's an internal drive boxed up in a metal housing. The fan in the back of the housing doesn't have access to the actual DVD burner to cool it off which explains the overheating. The air is blown against the metal back panel of the DVD burner inside the housing. I never got a chance to burn anything, it was too good to be true! I won't recommend it to anyone.

Mine runs a little warm but works great. I only turn it on when I need it. I have had it for about a month and have used many times successfully. It's really fast and the lightscribe works well.

I've had for 8 months and this thing is fast burns dvd perfectly every time unless set to max speed...did start making extra noises after a month but it is still hangin in there I would recommend turning it off when not in use because the quality and longevity of the fan may be suspect..but seriosly it's a powerhouse

I bought this to replace a bad drive on my desktop, but I haven't gotten it to work, and the company's customer service folks don't reply to my questions.

I purchased this DVD burner for a recording studio application so I could place my tower (Mac) in another room for noise purposes and still have access to a DVD/CD drive. Although the features of this product are excellent and it is Mac/PC compatible, it does have what I would consider excessive idle and operational noise compared to other burners I've had in the past. Good for those of you who don't mind some fan/running noise...

Excellent price point - that's a given. I've had the unit for a short while now and have had a 70-80% success rate with burning discs. The only thing that does worry me is the fact that over the past few weeks, the unit has been getting noisier and noisier - despite dusting - and I fear that the internal fan is on it's way out. If I can exchange it for a different one (preferably a different brand) I'd take it.

I have found the Kanguru U2-DVDRW-20LS DVDRW Lightscribe Burner to be adequate, but nothing more than that. I have USB, not USB2, and I notice that the burner only burns a little more quickly than my much older external burner which, according to its specs, should be a lot slower than the U2 20LS. Also, I was very surprised that the burner would not work on the first 'go around' with a couple of blank *CD's* although it burned flawlessly when I tried the projects again. I can't remember the last time that CD's did not burn. The unit arrived with the plastic surround (an inch wide strip at the front of the unit) loose; it came off in my hands when I took the unit out of its packing. This needs to be glued. I realized when I did my research the unit was bigger than some others I considered, and given the mediocre results, this becomes more of an issue for me. It is not light, but not heavy. I have only used the unit with my PC so far, but will try with my Mac, too.
