Pros:Cheap, when on saleQuite small

Nothing really special about this thumb drive. I had it for 4 months and no issues so far. I usually rate a thumbdrive on its lifetime. So far so good, and I've hammered it for the past months. It does the job and has 16gb. Got it for 8$. There's nothing to say more really. If you want a USB2.0 thumbdrive, cheap and seems reliable so far, this one seems to do the work !

Pros:16GB, cheap, Kingston

This is a decent thumb drive. It is not the fastest out there, but I have definitely worked with much slower. For the price, it is more than acceptable. For 10 bucks with a price match, how can you go wrong ?

Kingston DataTraveler 101 G2 16GB Capless USB Flash Drive Black
Cons:-very dim activity LED-connector cover easy to catch on things

Pros:-good size-sturdy
Comment:
I'm pretty pleased with this purchase - I've been waiting a while for 16GB drives to hit a realistic price, and this one doesn't disappoint. The shape doesn't really appeal to me, but I have to admit it works well - it fits into crowded USB ports next to other "normal" sized plugs without issue, and the casing is very strong. I haven't tested the speed, but I have it formatted as NTFS to accept >4GB files and it seems quick enough. The few downsides: The activity LED, which is located in the round section where the cover swivels, is very dim and can only be seen from one side of the drive. So if the USB ports are "upside down" on your machine, you won't be able to see it (it was weeks before I noticed it was even there). As well, while the metal cover is pretty well designed, the edges are rough and they can catch or scratch things in your bag/pocket/etc. The lanyard holes are cut to the same finish, so if you use a plastic or fabric lanyard you may want to file down the edges of these holes a bit so they don't abrade it as much.

Kingston DataTraveler 101 G2 16GB Capless USB Flash Drive Black
Cons:- can't hook it onto key chain

Pros:- good amount of storage- cheap
Comment:
Its a good drive all around, no major complaints about it, it comes with some Kingston software on the drive but never used it so I can't comment on that. My only complaint about it like mentioned in the cons is the slot at the back is so small you really can't get any thing in there to hook it on for a key chain, its really big enough for some thread and that's about it, and I wouldn't trust thread to hold onto my drive.

Kingston DataTraveler 101 G2 16GB Capless USB Flash Drive Black
Cons:Cap design does not seal tightCould be faster

Pros:CaplessSturdySmallGood drive activity light
Comment:
Another USB flash drive I'm using right now is the "ADATA C008-8G-RKD 8GB" so I'll compare this drive to that one. This drive is shorter because the ADATA drive has the USB plug retract inside the housing. The *overall* length is the same, but the length that protrudes out is shorter because the ADATA drive has empty space for the plug to retract, this Kingston one doesn't.Unfortunately the Kingston's drive cover swings in from the side. This does not seal the plug very well and it will definitely allow lint and dust in.The drive seems quite sturdy unlike the ADATA which feels flimsier. The drive access light is nice, it's fairly subdued and it's located at the cover's pivot point, meaning it's always visible no matter which position the cap is in.Ubuntu Linux's Disk Utility benchmarking application showed it is slower than the ADATA though:18.3 MB/s minimum read20.4 MB/s maximum read20.2 MB/s average readMy ADATA drive is almost twice as fast (average 38.6 MB/s). USB2 has never and will never win any speed awards though, so it's still good enough. Some might find the "urDrive" software included on the stick useful. The online backup feature was the only feature that piqued my interest, but I'll probably wipe it because I'll be using this as an Xbox 360 drive which will reformat and consume all 16 GB.For what I want it to do, I am satisfied with it though.
