It is a trackball! Universal receiver. Size of receiver. When once more, it's a trackball. Can't go wrong with logitech. Ball doesn't fall out when you drop it (unlike my wired trackball), but is nevertheless simply removable for cleaning. Back and forward buttons are straightforward to use and unlike other mice with this function, I don't accidentally press them when I don't want to. I don't drop it practically as substantially as my old wired a single due to the fact there's no wire to get caught. 18 month battery life (going powerful for 6 months and with my use, I don't count on it to last the complete 18 months). Since it is a trackball. I can use it in any position and I don't require to have space to move it or a flat location. no cons, but if I'm working with my laptop in bed, it's effortless to lose it among the blankets and pillows. I guess that can be thought of a con. I had the very first logitech trackball of this shape when it came out in 1995񳎼. I was 8-9 years old. It died in the early 2000s and I missed it dearly. I have often loved trackballs of this shape. When I got my laptop in 2005 I got the microsoft trackball mainly because the logitech wired trackball wasn't in stock. I hated it, returned it and purchased the logitech wired trackball (i didn't want to shed the wireless one and I didn't want to have to replace batteries). Following dropping it at least after a week more than the course of 5 years (the cord finding caught on factors as I got up accounted for more than half of the falls), it began to die (i feel it is the usb plug and the cord that is damaged). It isn't entirely dead, but it doesn't often operate, also, every time it fell, the ball fell out. I'm surprised I didn't shed the ball. Six months ago I purchased the m570 and I couldn't be happier. I also got 1 for my mom for her birthday, also six months ago, to go with her new laptop.

Comparable in size to the old Trackman, but the new track ball has a slightly diverse really feel that I actually like much more immediately after receiving utilized to it. So far it the new trackball also appears to need less cleaning. The other positive is the tiny wireless usb dongle that fits inside the mouse and is also capable of connecting with other logitec wireless devices. The two new buttons are also a great addition that I uncover very valuable in navigating web pages. I find myself reaching for them when I use my old Trackman. The only con I can actually feel of is that it requires a battery but thinking about it can final nicely more than a year that's not a large concern for the added flexibility of obtaining a wireless device. I started employing this kind of pointing device because I was getting wrist pain. They have proved to enable fairly a bit. So if that's the purpose you are hunting at this I'd very suggest you give it a attempt.

WirelessFit/contourTrackball is wonderful Scroll wheel is horrible. Everything about this trackball is amazing except for the scroll wheel. It feels like it was developed in the 90's. It's clunky, slow, and mine even squeaks when scrolling up. This would be a excellent trackball if they added one particular of the new weighted free-scrolling wheels onto this. That would give it five stars.

- no far more extended cord to the transceiver!- smallest USB dongle- added buttons- on/off switch for longer battery life - not quite as comfy to me to operate as the wireless trackman with cord to transceiver; not positive why, but style is ever so slightly unique although nearly identical- liked the red ball superior...- bundled software doesn't allow setting up one of the further buttons as a double-click or correct-click To those who complained about speed of tracking being slower - I agree but you can adjust this in the computer software (probably even in Windows personal manage panel) so you'll in no way know the distinction.

I had the wired version of this mouse for years, and loved it. The paint is worn I've applied it so a lot. I ultimately decided to get the wireless version and couldn't be happier. Not only does it feel better and have a smoother action, it has two further buttons. Range, battery life, and receiver storage are all exceptional. Would acquire once more in a second, if you are considering it, purchase it. You won't be sorry ; ) - My girlfriend left me, + But she purchased me this first ; )

Very same as the trusty old Logitech trackball I've used for 5+ years, but no cables! Which signifies no much more banging the trackball off furniture and floors just about every time I move my laptop aside, and no far more cables hooked on edges. As others noted, its not as smooth feeling as the old wired version, but thats not a huge deal. And Logitech, what took you so long ? I've been hunting for a wireless replacement for three+ years! We'll have to see what the battery life is like, and I'll surely need to have to break my nasty habit of holding the mousebutton down though reading on the internet. But this may possibly be the greatest Christmas present to myself in ten years.

This follows in the footsteps of its wired versions. A superb trackman that operates at ranges farther than other mice I have purchased that claimed far more range. The micro receiver is unobtrusive and the On-Off switch on the mouse it a fantastic function as nicely. A solidly built device worthy of the the name. None. Plug-n-Play with Ubuntu Linux... and integrates properly with my entertainment center operating XBMC.

Awesome mouse! Extremely tiny physical modifications from the original log*tech trackball. I really moved from a trackball to a G5. I employed it for rather a long time, but then I saw that this m570 was going to be release, instantly knew I'd be getting it. It's nice and lite too. The ball doesn't fairly roll as freely as the other trackballs, it has the feeling of the old trackball when it had a bit of crud on the rolling points. But it isn't truly that noticeable. The back and forward buttons are flawlessly placed, they just naturally fall under my finger. I like the tiny slot next to the battery for the receiver, it's a nice tiny addition. Haven't had a chance to test the 18 months battery life obviously. Also haven't tested the range extremely extensively, but I haven't had any cutouts of any sort. Not a con, but I'd like it if the wheel could click left and correct as well. I got used to this on my G5. I would have clicking my wheel left as refresh, and clicking my mouse wheel suitable as new tab. I would also customize it for games. Just a feature I got utilized to, but it's no big deal. No serious complaints to speak of. At present RMAing a wireless wheelman to Log*tech appropriate now, and I will be paying the difference in price to upgrade to the m570 for my mom as properly. She has actually bad carpal tunnel and her wireless wheelman broke. She will adore the tiny receiver.

The transmitter and mouse do not have to be on very same horizontal planes. Transmitter and mouse do not have to be LOS. Don't even have to install computer software for it operate work properly (although recommended). With a lot of things on the table in front of the M570 it would get a tiny slow/laggy. But then once more, this isn't the norm. I built a HTPC and utilised the M570 and the K800 to make it all wireless. The case is a server case and the transmitters are all behind the server front door. In addition, the transmitters are beneath the horizontal plane of the mouse/keyboard. I mention this simply because I know other men and women who have built HTPCs and they had concerns with the mouse/keyboard being in a position to transmit due to alignment concerns. Also, if you only have a restricted amount of USB ports, you can have a number of devices on one transmitter (unifying).

Logitech M570 Wireless Laser Trackball 1XAA
Cons:stopped working / bad customer support

Pros:None the mouse stopped working after 2 months
Comment:
Stopped working after two months, can't say that I really liked it or got used to it either. I wrote customer service at Logitech: "To be clearer, the trackball by itself isn't carrying the command to the "reader" but if I remove the ball and move my finger inside (where the trackball goes) it does move the cursor but replacing the ball in nothing happens. At first, I just noted it was becoming slower (the cursor movement) so about a two weeks ago I remove the trackball to clean inside as it had some dirt. Two days ago it became again very slow, so I remove the ball but everything looked cleaned so I replace the ball and now nothing happens. The mouse is 2 months old." Here they decided to send a blue ball against which I replied "My mother received the ball yesterday and will be forwarding it to me where I am traveling at the moment. Although it left me with some doubts as I fail to understand how a ball will make it works... Does it have something special inside? Hopefully it won't be in vain." I never heard from them again... 24$ postage down the drain since the new ball my mother sent me obviously did nothing. I was expecting more service after paying over 70$ for a mouse! Product wise I hope it was an isolated case since I've owned in excess of a dozen mice and keyboards from Logitech and never had a problem before, so overall I would say usually good products but a bad first customer support.

Greater try at wireless this time around. Energy switch. Forward and Back buttons. Forward and Back buttons take lil to get applied to. Would wonder if they put them below the ball exactly where you could activate with thumb, if this would be additional "natural"

It's little, light and responsive. I attempt to get logitech products whenever attainable; even although the M$ alternatives are just as superior (if not much better). That's a hard thing to say considering that I'm a Linux user... The scroll wheel squeaks...

nice seeking extra buttons improved battery enhanced receiver No backwards compatibility, It wont recognize nor be recognized by other logitech merchandise. The center wheel is sort of cheap and its just too small. I discovered it challenging to use and had to shelve it. It looks nearly identical to the older trackman but just distinct sufficient to make it way to clumsy and uncomfortable to use. ** A note right here would be I'm a massive guy, as I saw mentioned in other evaluations this may well not be an concern for folks with smaller hands. I am a huge fan of the trackman and its the only device I use. I have owned every model because they initially came out. I sincerely hope they repair the wheel and supply the old size again. I feel that wood be a winner. I would also hope going forward they would settle on a stranded so theres some comparability between generations.

Very precise pointing. Exceptionally stable on the desk and can be applied with a minimum of space. Like any trackball, you can set your mouse pointer on a distinct pixel, let go of the ball, then press the buttons to your heart's content...the pointer won't budge. It's wonderful for performing pixel by pixel mods of photos. 4 buttons provides me a forward and back on webpages. Possibly that I'll have to replace the battery every couple of years? I don't see that as a difficulty, but had to say something. Sold my Microsoft Explorer Trackball on e-Whatsit (you know the a single) for 贄...terrific trackball except that it didn't seem to fit me too nicely. There had been fantastic and negative things to say about it. I liked the positions of the buttons on that one particular a little superior, but actually like the fact that if you turn this 1 upside down, the ball doesn't fall to the floor and roll below the desk. This replaces a wired Logitech trackball that was somewhat related ƒ button rather of four...unless you count the scroll wheel button on each of them). Logitech did an superb style job on comfort and all about appearance. So far, so fantastic!

Almost like the original Logitech trackball, but wireless. none yet. Used to have a wired version (white platform with red ball), but had been utilizing the wireless rechargeable mouse that came with the wireless WavePro combo (keyboard/mouse). Like using the trackball overn a regular mouse.

Perfect! I am even pleased with some of the game presets when enabled! Excellent size and the rubber feet are really sticky so it stays put! I enjoy the Logitech trackballs and this getting wireless is a plus! Larger hands could wish there was more body to rest the heel of thier hand on but I am fiveཆ" and it is really comfortable once I got used to it being smaller than previous versions. Didn't get at Newegg(SORRY!!) but it is 1 hell of a trackball to personal!!!

Superb item. Operates specifically as expected. Great range. Incredibly nice button arrangement. Just a small bit on the modest side. I have really huge hands and my wired Logitech trackballs are bigger and I hoped this unit would be as nicely. But it is on the small side. This is a smaller issue as my hands are extremely large, XXL for gloves, so a usual hand should see no problems.
