Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:Lacks upper bass.

Pros:Power, clarity & great value.
Comment:
Mine is hooked to the optical out of my 55" LCD TV. The sound quality is great for the money & it has tons of deep bass and lots of volume to make those HD programs pop.It seems to be missing some of the upper bass that would round out the sound better; but its still quite good & way more that I was expecting for the $329 I paid.Buy it; you can't go wrong!p.s. If you hold down the volume button it will go past max into boost mode.

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:Very Directional Sound...Not the most convienant to wall mount...

Pros:Sub = Crazy BassGoes very very loud without distorting.Crisp Clear SoundComes all set to wall mount if desired (and looks cool mounted =))
Comment:
I've had these speakers for almost 2 years now I guess. Outside of getting a 27" monitor and doing the usual GPU upgrades, this probably represents the biggest single purchase for my PC(s). The sound is literally amazing though. If you are stepping up from some standard sub $100 2.1 sort of setup like I was, prepare to be blown away. Also, unlike most PC parts that you will upgrade consistently and lose use for from build to build, these speakers will still kick butt with your next PC just as much as your current PC.Also great for connecting to sound cards with optical connections, and for allowing optical connections from your consoles such as PS3 and XBox360 etc either through your soundcard or direct to the optical connection on the back.I bought these in town locally for a killer price during a boxing day sale. The sub is big and the box the set comes in is big and as expected, heavy. I imagine this would be an expensive set in regards to Shipping, so try to PM them and get a good price if your going to get em shipped! All that being said, I've never regretted this purchase at all!

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:-none, these are the best speakers you could ever hope for aside from professional audio sources.

Pros:-excellent sound reproduction-clear at all levels of use-extremely loud
Comment:
Finally got these after admiring a friends z5500 that he has owned for a few years. What can I say, they are amazing, hooked up to my xbox360 I have actually gotten about 10 times better at games such as the call of duty series and other online fps's that benefit from accurate positonal audio. Sounds are not mudded together and you can hear everything independently even with massive amounts of explosion/gun fire noises, everything is audible and this means if your a gamer like I am you could benefit from a decent 5.1 like this. Audiphile/professional audio equipment aside this is the best system for its application. Paired with a cheap audigy SE soundcard in vista x64 this has made my ears feel rejuvenated, would buy again, and again.

Thinking of upgrading your soundcard? I suggest you get these speakers before upgrading the soundcard, these will make one big difference in sound quality! Pair in with a Forte and wow I'm crying it so beautiful! Had a female UPS driver deliver these, box is like 50 lbs, and she dropped the box like 5 times from her truck to my front porch and they were nice and intact when I unboxed them, Logitech packed them nicely and they were in 2 big boxes to make sure all is safe! Will buy again for sure!

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:My first set died after one year but logitech has excellent support and I received a new set without issue.Audiophiles may stick their noses up in the air, but at this pricepoint your not going to do better than this in my opinion.

Pros:Excellent sound quality, volume, and features for the priceGood receiver with useful remote controlVarious modes such as dolby music, dolby movie, 6 channel direct, etc. DTS decoding, THX and DD certified.Plenty of cabling included for large spaces.
Comment:
Had these for 1.5 years, been very happy. Most of the time the volume is around 20% which is great, and occasionally I've brought them to 100% which pretty much is ridiculously loud in the basement and very loud on the middle floor. The sound quality is good throughout most of its range and isn't bad even at 100%. The price of these speakers fluctuates wildly so look around and pm accordingly.

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:Everything else, this is a heavily overrated system by people who have not heard any real speaker setup.

Pros:Digital, ...honestly can't think of any more.
Comment:
The Z-5500 are boomy, muddy bassy speakers. I've had them connected to a high quality soundcard, so I'm rating it here for what it is. Go on ANY audio forum that has actual people who know about audio, and ask them what they think about this. This is OK (ONLY for games & MAYBE movies) for a $200 price tag, but not a cent more. For music, there are FAR better 2.0 speakers (oh did you remember? Music is made in stereo, not 5.1).Do some more research before buying speakers with puny drivers that can't move any decent sound.

Cons:-RIDICIHUGE subwoofer-Cheap remote, not at the same level as rest of system

Pros:-RIDICIHUGE subwoofer-Very nice sound-Long cables-Looks awesome
Comment:
At this pricepoint there is no comparison. No other speaker system in this range is anywhere near this system in performance. I have Bose speakers from a couple years back and they literally sound like 20 buck cheapos in comparison to these (although its mostly because they tend to crackle with bass now).

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:The cable between the control pod and the sub is too short.

Pros:Sound quality, dolby 5.1, DTS. Plenty of settings on the control pod. easy to mount on the wall. Great surround effect. You can directly plug you Ipod or any MP3 player.
Comment:
In my opinion there is no better sounds system in this price range. I Use it in a HTPC setup in my condo and it's awesome. Enough power to have some action but not enough to wake up the guy six floors bellow. I needed longer cables so I easily changed the cables and put 16gauge.

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:- Doesn't include digital audio cable.- Heavy. (Takes a bit of work to get into the house)- No extra plugin for microphone on head unit. So combo microphone/headsets must still go back to the computer.

Pros:- Awesome sound.- Lots of wire.
Comment:
Price matched this system to $299. Shipped promptly and worked immediately. The sound quality is intense and the system provides enough wire to connect all the speakers. The wire is black, so it might be hard to hide in some people's decore. I haven't mounted the speakers on the wall yet, but the mounting system for the speakers definitely could be improved. They all rotate in the direction so that must be taken into account before screwing in.In addition, the box is heavy and large so you may need a buddy to help lift the box. My two main complaints with the system is that it didn't come with a digital audio cable and you can't plug a microphone into the head unit. So for headsets with a microphone that connection must still go back to the system.

Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker
Cons:Subwoofer is very large and requires space to place

Pros:Quality soundGreat bassPretty designLong cablesDecent onboard decoderRemote control includedLong wire lengths
Comment:
Best speakers I have ever purchased for home computer setups. Having been in the 5.1 surround sound game since they were first introduced for games, I have owned and even customised a couple of sets for myself: Altec Lansing, Creative and Logitech. These speakers here are crystal clear and have very little distortion even at very high volumes. Excellent for games, movies and music. Very pleased with the wire lengths included but note that the subwoofer is huge and heavy. It's such that I'm currently using it as a footrest! Tried the setup for both optical and miniplug, and they function well. The onboard decoder is decent although you may want to rely on your soundcard's DAC. It is important to pair it with a decent one, such as a HT Omega Striker or Auzentech Xplosion.
