Comment:
Nice instruction guide, clear printing on the motherboard. I like the USB 3. ports. Audio is clear and my Radeon 4870 snapped in without a hitch. RAM was recognized immediately. Method posted quickly. Running it paired with a core i5 2400 and eight GB Corsair RAM. Bios CPU temp and OS CPU temp (CoreTemp) measurements vary drastically. Program is at present running at 38 degrees idle but shoots up to 98 degrees beneath load. This is a cooling system most most likely so I can't hold it against the mobo.

Comment:
When MSI says "military class" they aren't exaggerating! Upon lifting it out of the box, you know you have a board in your hand that was constructed to final! Substantially heavier than other boards and populated by industrial strength heat sinks, you promptly get the impression that this board doesn't need kid glove handling. Connection headers are nicely placed so the physical setup is a breeze. Obtaining not built a new program for a few years, I was pleasantly shocked and impressed by the slick BIOS setup as nicely as the onboard utilities. The interface was nicely laid out and intuitive and the wide array of settings allowed a user defined degree of control that need to satisfy even the most discerning tweaker. I genuinely hated to take an egg away from rating this board but its lack of support for XP installations can be an annoyance to a significant headache for XP customers depending on their level of expertise. No floppy with AHCI and SATA/RAID drivers for XP installations and no guidelines for XP customers. Although most individuals developing new systems today are working with Windows 7, I am not. There are some crucial applications I use which have however to be adapted to Win 7. When I constructed this new technique, I did not bother with adding a floppy drive, so I was forced to slipstream AHCI and the SATA/RAID drivers into my XP installation disc so XP could find my hard drive and install effectively. Even if I had a floppy drive installed, I would nonetheless have had to create a floppy with the AHCI and SATA/RAID drivers on it.

Straightforward setup, easy above-clocking, does what I want it to do Documentation for OC Genie incredibly poor - by no means figured out how to get it to operate (where is the OC Genie button). However, the manual overclocking was simple enough, so didn't require to use. OC'ed I5 2500K to 4.5 GHz with core temps usually running less than the mid 40's utilizing ROSEWILL R519-BK RT. SpeedFan reports a Temp2 that occasionally goes into the 60's, but no other temp program reports anything this high - not confident what that is. Have gone up to 4.7, but for now will leave at 4.five.

None proper now Just ordered a new construct making use of this motherboard and I was expecting to have a smooth time because I've by no means had a challenge with MSI just before, but this motherboard has made me extremely irritated and unhappy. My biggest challenge with this motherboard is the lack of clear documentation. Instead of clearly explaining the procedure in words, a image with arrows is supplied to show how to open the CPU latch. It took me way longer than it really should have to figure out how to open the latch (MSI website did not help, had to use Google). When I lastly got down to installing the CPU and closing the latch, the latch in fact put two dents (one on each side) of my brand new i7-2600k.Now, I would have forgiven all this once I got my build up and operating, but sadly there is a failure someplace in the system. The laptop POSTs, but I can not figure out what the error beeps mean since there is no error documentation in the manual and no exactly where in the manual is the BIOS stated. (continued below) I have tried to use the MSI on the web client service, but however I will need to know the BIOS just before I can even get enable, but I can't discover what BIOS the motherboard utilizes. Not realizing the exact challenge in my develop and not realizing what BIOS I have has lead to troubleshooting the construct piece-by-piece, going out of my way to get new elements just to see if my current ones are functioning. I want to RMA the motherboard in hopes that it is the problem, but I don't want to wait the complete procedure to locate out it was essentially my CPU that was the dilemma. Now, I would RMA my i7-2600k first, but due to the fact the CPU latch on the MSI motherboard put dents into the heat spreader on my CPU, I am afraid that newegg will deny to replace my i7 because of physical harm and that it will be also late to RMA the motherboard and that I'm out about 躔.MSI has by no means let me down just before, but appropriate now I am really unhappy with this motherboard. I am large on value and this is a fantastic value board. This board has been the simplest to perform with. Point and Click BIOS which makes every thing so self explanatory it is just fun to work with. I also got the i5 2500K but have yet to OC due to the fact the stock cooler for the CPU is trash and idles @ 50 degrees from commence up. XfireƘx,8x),USB3.,6Gbs SATA. I have always purchased ASUS but every person I purchased I had to RMA so I decided to give MSi a attempt, soon after going via their site and seeing their goods, warranty, and software updates I am really content I chose MSi. Goodbye ASUS! Only con I had is that the CD didn't include the audio drivers or atleast wouldnt let me upload the drivers from the CD. I discovered the drivers on the MSi site and it worked good. 1) DONT Commit A LOT OF Income ON Computer HARDWARE IT IS HALF Price tag IN three MONTHS. 2)CPU tends to make all the difference in gaming. I went out and purchased a 6850 Radeon card with my old AMD 6000+ CPU. I got maybe a 10 frame improve from my old 8800GT. After constructing my new comp with i5 2500K and maintaining the Radeon 6850 I had an boost of 200 frames (Counter Strike Source)

Worked very good right out of the box. Everything I hooked up to it worked fine. Ran 1600 RAM at 1600 without having obtaining to touch something. Got it with a combo discount. When I turn on OC Genie, it overvolts the ram to 1.65v+. Timings and everything else remain the identical, but the voltage shoots up. I can change it with the OC computer software as soon as in Windows, but due to the fact other people in my home use the laptop or computer as well, that is not a really great alternative, and if OC Genie is on you can't modify settings in BIOS (tried it, was not stable). Other than that it OCed to 4.2Ghz and was perfectly stable. Not much of a difficulty as I don't strategy on employing OC Genie substantially if at all, it was far more of a curiosity factor. The RAM also sits fairly close to the CPU and the cooler BARELY fit. Intel i5 2500kG.Ability Ripjaws X Series 4GB WD Caviar Green 1.5TBOCZ Vertex twoAntec TruePower New TP-750 750W MSI GTX 460

Good layout. Excellent Value. Had all items I required for my system. Simple install and bios navigation. When I first started out it up I was acquiring the dreaded, infinite energy loop. The item would turn off and on just about every three-four seconds and the only way to quit it was turning off the power provide straight.Luckily after reseting the CMOS and removing 1 stick of ram it would essentially boot. Got to the bios and changed some settings and was able to reinstall my second stick of ram. It has been operating fine so far. So not a total con, but it did be concerned me simply because I saw several other testimonials talking about this infinite looping issue. The layout is fairly fantastic on the board, but it is not as wide as my old board. So if you take place to have the Cooler Master Hyper 212 fan, the 120mm fan will bump into the 1st memory slot. All I did was raise the fan up half an inch and it operates fine, but certainly take a appear at how far your CPU fan sticks out because you may well not have the clearance for the initially slot of memory.

Looks great and very good selections. Bios seems ok to work with. Load up fine and operating ok. I believed OC appear uncomplicated sufficient. Installation was quite smooth. I'm not a oc guy but it's so simple 1 sec oc. So I bought this board with i5 2500k and set multiplier with slight v bump. Weird factor is that cpuz and windows says it's operating at stock when the bios is showing that it's at four.2gh. Bios also show 50c when cpuz shows 36c. Also cpuz shows my 2 memeory slot is operating different speed than the other two. I have tried oc before and cpuz often read it properly. Even windows shows the speed appropriately. Unless this board doesn't allow software monitoring. It just seem that is not working correct. MSI tech assistance not considerably assist at all. They just tell me that cpuz could be incorrect and absolutely nothing else. Not even a mention about the odd ram settings. I have built numerous program ahead of and tho I'm not an oc'er I think I know adequate. Possibly do passmark and see if the score is any different with the oc. I have corsair H50 cpu cooler with push pull on it so I believe the 36c is right.

None yet... The first board needed an RMA and now the second board also needs an RMA immediately after having precisely the exact same problem. I would normally assume that means there is one thing else going on, but I've checked Anything else. Absolutely nothing seems to assist. MSI could not tell me what was wrong and mentioned I really should return it (Phone call). It will not even POST giving two lengthy beeps and one brief. NewEgg stated they sent a brand new mobo, so perhaps I'm incredibly unlucky. Either way, they are providing one more replacement... Thankfully.

It works even if your a not master OC'er MSI tech support. Bios temp appears high on cpu. to update on my previous review, I produced a mistake about cpuz. The newest 1 does not detect sandy bridge cpu appropriately. You would need to download ver 1.561. Sorry MSI your board works fantastic so far. If you had greater tech support I would have try to function with ya. Only following I bench with the oc did I notice that it was working correctly. Still a small worried about the cpu temp in bios though, it's nonetheless 10C higher than expected.

For the price this is one of the best looking boards out there. And with those looks also comes the ability to oc quite a bit for a board in this price range. If you need a gamin board with abilty to oc this is the one. I didnt need the features of z68 so why not save some money right? Very pleased with msi.
