Ideal router I have owned to date. Quick and effortless to set up. Had a issue with connecting a Windows Vista computer system up to it but once I downloaded a patch for vista to see the internet by means of the router every little thing operates wonderful. not worth takin a egg cuz Vista sucks.

Drive operates great. I can go across the street to my neighbors house and be in the very same room as their wireless router and mine will nonetheless show a stronger signal. :) Wish my other wireless devices worked on 5GHz band.

Lots of attributes Dropped wireless connections and no assistance from net gear. The router loses connection all the time. The troubles with this router go back to pretty much launch. Netgear has carried out absolutely nothing to repair the dropped connection problems. The final two firmware updates have been terrible and have left customers attempting to uncover old patches to roll back to. I am in the marketplace to get a new router. I have v1 so I got this appropriate when it came out and now tired of the dropped wireless connections.

This is for the V1, but it looks like Newegg is promoting the V2. Related issues have been reported on the Netgear forums for the V2. The leading thread on the forum for the unit is: "who is having 2.four wireless drop outs on the VERSION 2 3700?(http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t)"Fantastic feature set, a lot more than I required for an AP, but this was on the shelf next to the Cisco E6800 at Greatest Purchase and it had much better testimonials. I like the dual band radios and the guest networks, great range for both bands, lots of very good functions for a house network and maybe an SMB. All the basic features I expect are there. I don't use the USB drive feature. HD video streaming operates really nicely, with incredibly handful of errors more than the N band. Web page filtering will come in handy when I have children. Right here is the large con that just about wipes out all the pros: The unit starts dropping packets like crazy if there are numerous connections at the very same time. After I reset the unit, it will execute generally for a short even though, then will begin dropping once again. The user sees webpages quit loading, IM apps freeze or drop connections, VPN drop, and streaming apps lose their stream.Netgear support offered up the V1..7.98NA firmware to address this, but it gave a minimal improvement. I am not convinced this unit can essentially support the maximum bandwidth that it's rated for 鵬 Mb/s). Adjusting fragmentation and CTS/RTS did not support. No knocks against Newegg here, just this unit.

Good Seeking... Worked well (except for the readyshare function) until it died. Purchased Unit 11ቯ񳏉 - Died 1ቺቝ. Only one particular year warranty so I'm out of luck. I've never ever been impressed with the USB port and readyshare capability. LAN ports flash on and off now, and there isn't any way to access the router (except occassionally by way of wireless). Unable to revive it by reflashing or setting back to factory defaults. Had to revert to the WGU624 till I acquire a new router - and it won't be a NETGEAR! I've owned several NETGEAR products more than the years (RP614, WGR614, WGU624), and these products have lasted for years without any complications. The WNDR3700 lasted only 1 year 2 mo. Altering to the ASUS RT-N56U R. I need to have a greater and far more trustworthy router - 1 that last longer than one year.My assistance - Don't waste you funds on the NETGEAR WNDR3700 - with it's 1 year warranty - purchase something that won't die just soon after the warranty runs out...

Solid router and effortless to setup. I lastly made the switch from DSL to Cable and my old router had an 8 Mbps WAN to LAN limit. About every single 3-4 weeks I'll lose connection to the world wide web. I can browse to the router so I know it hasn't crashed but I have to reboot to get items working again. Just upgraded the firmware to V1..7.98NA so that may support. Not even utilizing the wireless but this router is the greatest one, wired or wireless, presently out there for under 赨.

The wireless strength is excellent and reaches quite a approaches, I can use my ipod all the way about the block on it. The gigabit switch on the back will allow for up to four wired connections and Ive under no circumstances had an issue with them. The dual band radios make it nice simply because you can pick which a single to use depending on the other devices in your household and about you or you can have a network of each frequencies, just recall your wireless card has to help the 5Ghz frequency but most produced today do. I've had this router for I would say about 9 or ten months now and it has not had to be rebooted to get it to work but when and I will tell you why in the Cons. The USB port on the back is a good location to plug in an external 1 or two TB drive to be used for backups of "most" peoples points. It supports DynDNS, all of the WEP and WPA standards and if you use each bands and the guest network you could have up to 3 SSIDs In heavy interference places the radio doesn't do so nicely. When I lived near allot of men and women who also had wireless I had to throttle the speed back to 54MB (Wireless G speed) in order to have a stable connection. It would connect but ultimately I would basically quit receiving targeted traffic. If I rebooted the router items got ok for a though and then the identical scenario. Right after carrying out a scan of the region and searching at the noise from all of the other devices about me I decided to throttle the speed back and ever due to the fact then I did not have a challenge. Now I live in a different location and the wireless is back up to 150Mb and I wonder if that is what quite a few persons are complaining about who gave it a 1 out of fiveIt does not support connecting to a VPN but does let VPN pass through meaning you can install a VPN client on your laptop or computer and it will let it via, I was a little disappointed with that. Also the USB on the back can not be utilized as a print server. Lastly DynDNS only supports the site DynDNS.com All in all I believe its a fairly solid router and do recomend it, even for the higher price tag. Most local stores carry this for 150 bucks all the time and I wish it would go down a bit. Im giving it four out of five simply because for the price it must have VPN connectivity and I believe the USB ought to be able to be a print server port. The value is a bit high even even though it is loaded with functions. All of the features and the outstanding speed combined with the ability to get a signal so far away make this a good router for household users and some little organizations just as long as you dont use a VPN.

Bought this router 5 days ago at a nearby retailer, despite a small hesitation due to particular reviews I read. Setup was effortless, the thing looked good sitting on my desk, and it was rapidly...when it ran. Sadly, it didn't run a lot. I set it up in my network Ƒ wired connection, two-five wireless devices connected at all occasions), and it was all downhill from there. The router just plain would not work for a lot more than 30 minutes at a time. After this mysterious time period elapsed where it worked well, the point would just turn out to be unresponsive. It wouldn't let a connection to the router management page, wouldn't enable outbound or inbound web visitors, wouldn't enable LAN traffic. OK, maybe a thing was incorrect in the auto-update that it performed when I initial turned it on, so I manually flashed to the most recent firmware offered on Netgear's internet site. Nope, nonetheless had the same problem. Believed about messing about with it, but eventually gave up and returned it to the store. Seeing as the sale on this item had expired, I opted to obtain the WNDR3400 rather. Certain, it doesn't have gigabit ethernet, but fast ethernet is sufficient for what I program on undertaking in my residence. I'm now 5 hours into owning the 3400, and no connection drops. *fingers crossed*

Simple to setup, fantastic range, rapid for networking, operates with my DSL service. The USB is SLOW! I connected a Hitachi 2TB drive and kicked off a 1TB information copy from my media server two days ago. It's about 450GB full, or 225GB per day. The server has a wired connection to the Netgear. Great router, but don't program on working with the USB for moving substantial amounts of backup data.

Even though this router is a mess for other individuals, for me it's been performing incredibly great with extremely heavy use. NO single wireless signal drop yet. I hate the fact that as other user pointed out you have to move the router (pinting to the laptop) at times to get good signal. For me this router is performing very fantastic in a 2 weeks of usage. I have 3 laptop connected to it wirelessly, a Playstation three , and whatch some movies from netflix on the 5Ghz band without any issue as for currently's date. 1ቷ레.4ghz nonetheless have a much better range but 5ghz have a better transfer speed. This router a powerfull compared to other individuals with virtually the similar characteristics. For me, the internet interface is a joke, it lack some advance capabilities that DD-wrt can give u, but sadly there's no firmware from DD-wrt for this version however.Don't dare to update the firmware however, wait longer untill netgear release a greater and stable one particular.A extremely pricey router.Consumer assistance SUCK.. I read a lot of fantastic and bad critiques about this router., also undesirable and great reviews about Linksys E3000, D-Link 825 which are practically the identical in characteristics , even even though Netgear 3700 it's supposed to be faster than the other individuals two. It seems to me that there's not certain way to get a router to satisfy you a 100%.I have a linksys Wrt610n (converted to e3000) that came with 5ghz radio dead from factory and buyer suportdenied to reimburse or redeem my warranty.Despite all negatives and positive critiques there is not certain way to get a 100% operating router.., The firm knows that there will be some defective ones from factory.I have D-link 825, Linksys e3000 , Linksys Wrt610n (recently converted to E3000) and Netgear 3700 , all of them with poor evaluations and excellent reviews..., I crossed my fingers, did a small pray just before just about every purshase and only a single out the 4 was a lemon.I recommend you take the threat and buy it based in the router's capabilities not per critiques. Excellent LUCK.

Worked wonderful right out of the box. This replaced an Asus router that my iPad just didn't like to perform with (google iPad and wireless). This worked like a charm and fixed the difficulty, iPad works good all more than the home now. Because setting it up I've under no circumstances had to power cycle it and it sees pretty heavy use (I operate from house). I had to invest dollars to repair the iPads poor wireless reception. It was a fantastic excuse to upgrade to a 5GHz router. :)

Works nicely with initial release firmware with occasional lockups. 31 Stock FirmwareWorked great as advertised but would have occasional lockups. 49 ReleaseLocked up each day and cut network throughput to a quarter. Went back to 31.55 ReleaseNetwork throughput cut back to a quarter again. Didn't lock up on me but the net GUI was unreachable until a reboot. Back to stock 31.68 ReleaseWhat a joke! Throughput went up but gaming and other items would boot you off soon after ten-30 minutes. Back to stock 31 once more.75 ReleaseWow, pretty stable... if you like the throughput to be cut in half. One more waste in time. Back to stock 31.98 ReleaseI was shortly amazed for at least a week. Throughput was great but immediately after that week my VoIP telephone dropped following 15 minutes on just about every call and several devices on the internet at the same time had been slow slow slow. The range went down too. QoS was a joke. I guess 30 feet through a ceiling was too considerably for this top of the line gear to manage. Back to stock 31. If you are a consumer and want this router to function as it should, do not bother with any firmware other than 1..four.31. Downgrade it to 31 at the 1st sign of any difficulty. We are talking about radio right here, it's been about a extended time. I just can't believe just about every release sucks so bad.The entire staff of Netgear firmware engineers must be fired. I will by no means acquire a Netgear product once again since your firm has ruined my self-confidence. Do they even test this stuff just before they release it? Why do they release firmware and right away pull it off the server? Is this outfit a joke or what? It's like each update tends to make this router even worst. Do you have a bunch of engineers in a room saying stuff like, "what can we do to make our product even worst... ah, this should be funny."

It works, has a quite straightforward install, loads of features (too many possibly) and great software program. Its not efficient on several of the channels in the 2.4Ghz band, according to their assistance, preferring only three of them that are widely employed in my making. This tends to make it a bit more vulnerable to interference then I'd like. Max speed it is achieving from 15 feet away is 130MBps in the 2.four band. I will most likely will need to get a dual band adapter to use the 5Ghz band to get higher speeds.
