Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler
Cons:Non-PWM fans

Pros:Excellent CPU coolingQuiet OperationFlexible
Comment:
This is no doubt the best CPU cooler I've ever used. It keeps my i5 4670K at around 50-55 degrees Celcius when running Prime95, and around 23-24 degrees Celcius when idle. It runs very quietly at top speed too.The cooler is very well designed. Although it's very huge, it should fit most mid-size cases and most RAMs. The two fans are attached by a couple clips which are easily adjustable. By adjusting the height of the 120mm fan, I easily accomodate the Corsair Vengeance Pro, which is by no means low profile. The clip design also allows easy changing of any of the two fans. One drawback of the cooler is that the two fans are not 4-pin PWM fans. I use an Asus motherboard and Asus' Fan Xpert 2 couldn't adjust the speed of 3-pin CPU fans. So, the fans are running at top speed all the time. The only way to lower the speed is to attach the provided cable, but there's no real-time or multi-level adjustment. Given its premium price, it's really a big disappointment. I would give this cooler a 4.5 if I could because of this.

Incredibly efficient, quite quiet. I was using a CM V8. Below AIDA64 strain test 鲤% load) core temps had been hitting 81*C and the cpu temp was in the low 50*'s C. Now the core temps gets no greater than 68*C below one hundred% load and cpu temp 39*C. I am also running World Neighborhood Grid 24ǝ. It runs the cpu at 60% capacity continuosly 24ǝ. My cpu temp does not exceed 37*C and the core temps never ever exceed 61*C. I have the fans running one hundred% plugged directly into the energy provide. They are inaudible. I have the DH-14 exhausting into the top 200mm fan for two reasons. I reasoned that the 200mm fan will pull the hot air out a lot more effectively than the 120mm rear fan. Also, by orientating it upwards, my memory heat sinks absolutely clear the DH-14. I am considering about replacing the NFP-12 with a NFP-14 to see if I can reduce the temps even further. None. intel i7920 OC'd three.5ghz 175ၼNoctua DH-14Corsair Vengeance DDR1600 12gb RAMtwo-Sapphire 5870 graphics cards crossfire 3- LG1952tq monitors eyefinity2 - Western Digital Black 750gb HD RAID Corsair HX-1000 power provide 1000wCooler Master Storm Sniper Black Case. two-200mm, 1-120mm intake fans, and 1-200mm,120mm exhaust fans

Really quite and keeps my temps five-8 c reduce than my CM V6 with 2 fans. Really straightforward to install as extended as you have plenty of space. Substantially quieter than the CM V6 also. When you very first look at the cooler you think it wouldn't be stable but has a incredibly sturdy mounting method. Massive. Make sure you have a case that will help it. Color is a small bland but I don't care as lengthy as it does what its supposed to do, and it does. A tiny pricey but worth it. A have to get if it will match your case.CM HAF 932EVGA For The Win 200 MBi5 760 Ɠ.8Ƣgb Kingston Hyper X 񢃀)Noctua NH-D141TB WD BlackEVGA GTX 580OCZ ZX 1250 Watt PSU

replaced an arctic freezer pro 7, which was obtaining me 40*C @ 3.5gig OC'd i7 950, threw this in there and dropped to 29*C @ three.5gig, OC'd to four.2gig and...well lets see appropriate nowɤ% load temps read: 40ኁኁኃ, max gaming load in BF2BC (the most demanding game i have) is 71*C...thoughts you thats just a peak...its closer to a 60-65 typical major...knew it would fit in my case...but at the cost of not becoming capable to bolt my side panels bottom screw in else my 180MM fan will rub on a protruding heat pipe...i knew it was large, i place 1 in for my pal 2 weeks ago, but i didnt think i'd have THAT problem...not a massive deal, just a bigger discomfort in the explitiv removing/replacing the sidepanel than i'd like but for what it does...its a smaller sacrifice (Xclio advanced coolbox, comperable to the godspeed) expensive as far as CPU coolers go but the bottom line is its worth it, i skimped and went with a 30$ arctic freezer pro 7...yeah i just wasted 30$...dont skimp like i did and get this 1 the initial time, will save u funds in the lengthy run and prolong CPU life, also...it is reality...not fiction, that this does cool superior than ALOT of liquid cooling setups, that in turn, price ALOT more income than this does...this is the ideal aircooler cash can purchase

Quiet. Looks good in case. I am receiving the similar temperatures as I was on the stock cooler that comes with the i7-950. I applied the TIM properly, tried more than a single application, even tried different TIMs. My item came with an clear nick in the base. I wrote to Noctua and they asked for pictures. I offered images and the responded that this was typical. I asked how it could be normal to have space among the CPU and cooler due to an indentation which would then provide space for air and decrease cooling. It has been over 1 week and they have decided on their finish that the case is closed and there is no further need to have for them to be bothered pursuing this.I am really surprised and dissapointed by Noctua's attitude and lack of interest in resolving this matter. I have the e mail conversation for anyone interested in seeing it.I am inside my 30 days and will return this to Newegg and buy a competitive solution alternatively.

This cooler functions great!!! Got my AMD phenom 965 OC'ed to four. GHZ and my Northbridge to two.six ghz at a cool 34 celcius and while gaming the warmest it got was 39 celcius, ran prime95 for 3 hours at these oced settings max temp 58 celcius THIS Issue IS Massive!!! It does match in a mid tower but if you are running a panel fan you might have to place it on the outside of the case. I am quite impressed with this air cooler thinking about it out performs the Corsair H50 liquid cooler this is the way to go specifically if you are unsure about liquid cooling

Uncomplicated to install, very quiet even with each fans, securely mounts to board, and most importantly keeps my CPU cool. Not bad for ๠ bucks. Even comes with AMD and INTEL hardware as effectively as very good thermal paste. You can't go incorrect here unless if won't match in your case. So make confident you measure! None.

-Lowered my temps by 6C on typical from my prior cooler (Xigmatek HDT-S1283)-Dual fan offers outstanding airflow-Silent operation-Straightforward installation with clear instructions -This cooler is Large. I have never ever applied 1 that is as big as this before. Make positive this will fit in your case and will clear any motherboard heat sinks before acquiring.-Fan connector is three pin as an alternative of four pin, so quite a few motherboards cannot dynamically adjust the fan speed. I bought this cooler soon after becoming incredibly unsatisfied with my HDT-S1283 when attempting to cool my overclocked Core i7 2600K. It performs incredibly nicely, but the size may possibly protect against it from operating with some circumstances and motherboards.

This beast screams good quality correct down to the packaging. This is an upgrade from a V8 I was previously using, and wow the difference is noticable. OCing just got way less difficult. The installation is smooth and fantastic. The integrated TIM is awesome! ummm... ok... it didnt self install... it wasnt free of charge. two Do oneself a favor and get this cooler over any other. Only mod I had to do was to take the top rated fins off my Dominator ram, 3 screws and it came off. No challenge, as the airflow from this cooler aids with much more than just the processor.

hooked this up for my buddy on his phenom two BE 965 i think it is...he was experiencing 50* C idle temps w/ his stock cooler, i referred him to this cooler as well as 2 120mm fan/grills that i dremmeled into the top rated of his case and his idle temps went down to 25*c, according to him his highest temps below any load he has seen has been 44*c...which is nothing at all short of a miracle words cant describe how humongous this thing is, you just have to see it for your self, if your motherboard has clutter around the cpu socket then dont purchase it, some people have difficulties w/ the northbridge heatsink/fan if it applies to you, take some measurements, normal case size, it will nearly touch your side panel was so impressed with my close friends benefits i just ordered 1 for myself, i run a i7 950 overclocked at the moment @ three.5gig (stock 3.07) i idle @ 37-42*c and under gaming load peaks at 70-75*c (BF2BC/SC2/FFXIV) ordering this new cooler since them temps are way also high for my liking, but if i can get my idle down to 25* i strategy to further overclock this 950 to four.-4.2gig, i run an Xclio mid tower with 3x 180mm 1x 120mm and an arctic freezer 7. Keeps things cool. Really cool. My old AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ (overclocked from two.1Ghz to 2.63Ghz) maxes out at 38C below full load with Prime95.The mounting system is superb. The guidelines are clear and easy to study, and the mounting hardware is prime notch.Comes with higher good quality thermal paste, low noise and ultra low noise adapters and a good shiny metal Noctua case badge.Isn't cheap but you surely get what you spend for with Noctua. It's actually large, like actually big. Wouldn't call this a con per se, you just have to know what you're getting into when you purchase it.Even with circumstances that have a cutout for installing CPU backplates I would suggest taking the complete motherboard to install this beast, it will make your life easier, particularly attempting to plug in the fan cord. I attempted to install it in my Antec 900 right after the motherboard was installed and it was quite a chore. Regardless of the factors I talked about this is an amazing heatsink, with the overall performance you get with the NH-D14 you can anticipate the size to make mounting it a small more difficult than other coolers. Nonetheless, the actual mounting hardware is some of the finest I've ever noticed and eliminates numerous headaches seen with other coolers.

Cons:Large... it has its own orbit

Pros:Gold standard of air cooling
Comment:
This is the GOLD STANDARD of air cooling, and has been for a few years. In fact, unless you have a THICK, DOUBLE-RAD water cooling solution, this air cooler will likely be superior when it comes to high load - watch Linus' videos if you don't believe me.With that said, a sufficiently large case will be required for clearance. Sufficient airflow will also help maximize this cooler's potential.

I was happy with PM on this, and so got it for present use - thinking ahead to a liquid system. From what I'm seeing, I'll probably keep it for a long time! I'm using it with an 8350.Even with Crucial Ballistix RAM, there isn't a huge amount of clearance so I'm really glad that I went with this "high clearance" cooler.I'm grateful for all the information brought up in previous reviews, which convinced me to try it!
