This factor is massive. This thing is large. I haven't even installed it yet. I don't see how this huge thing is going to fit in the case. There is a motherboard compatibility chart on the website. In theory, it must fit. I will update later.

On my computer using the ASUS P8P67 REV3.1 using Corsair CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 Vengeance ram the heat sink touches the ram heat sinks on the first pair of memory slots. It does not seem to be an issue but If I ever have to replace those Dimm's I'll have to remove the Cpu heat sink first.Other than that it's a great cooler. I'm getting 22deg C on my I5 2500k running at 4ghz

Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler
Comment:
It's quiet. A lot additional quiet than something I've ever used and I've utilized fairly a bit from stock heatsink/fans to Zalman's 9900 MAX. The only points it isn't additional quiet than that I've used are my microITX CPU coolers. Mainly because those don't have a fan for the CPU, just a heatsink and little pieces of metal tend not to develop too significantly noise when being heated or cooling down.i7 920 revision D0 operating at stock clock I'm idling at about 30c. On full load I barely tip 46c immediately after about an hour. I just can't be bothered to run a 24 hour pressure test. Electricity isn't no cost for my loved ones. Ambient temperature is about 18-20c depending on if they have the heat on or not. Summer time I don't expect it to get much more than 20c ambient. 1 of the most pricey air coolers you will find here on newegg. I'm positive you can also discover a less costly cooler that will match the performance of the NH-D14. The Zalman 9900 MAX comes to the mind, the Scythe. And think it or not, the Hyper 212+ does decent when compared against the NH-D14. For installation I would undoubtedly recommend getting a second person with you to aid. It created installing the backplate and securing the heatsink on a lot less complicated.Be positive to check the orientation of the braces so you don't finish up getting to redo the backplate. Also, the backplate comes with a rubber cross that has to be removed for 1366 socket installation. Don't be like me and attempt to secure it down with that rubber piece nevertheless there. Rip it out initial. The screwdriver that comes with this is actually helpful. I bought a entire new construct with this and I swear I just employed this screwdriver for virtually almost everything if not everything. It comes with its own heatpaste. Searching around it seems comparable to AC5. Immediately after virtually two weeks now I can say it is indeed comparable so you don't want to sweat it. Comes in a major tube. Can very easily do about 8 builds if you're very good with it. The black cap also screws off so be warned about that.

Fits in an Antec 3 Hundred case - with about 1Ǟ" to spare. Will get up to 50C in my 80F space with an i5-760ʃ.2GHz. None. Hopefully it will remain that way... I also own the Noctua NH-U9B which would get slightly warm to the touch with a Q8300ʃ.15GHz. The NH-D14 is in a class of its own when it comes to cooling with air... and from time to time far better than cooling with water.

It does what it is supposed to do very properly. Keeps my 950 @stock (oc soon adequate) incredibly cool. Efficiency deserved full 5 eggs. BUT SEE CONS Below. I bought this through my parents who had been in the US and came back to Pakistan just a couple of days ago. I was the initial person to open the box and from the incredibly beginning i knew there was something wrong, the box opening tab was sealed shut by generic transparent tape, i could hear screws screwdriver in the box, even although it was supposed to be sealed in a bag. It was an open box, previously applied. The mounting kit packet was torn open. The faceplate of the heatsink had smeared thermal compound on it. It was evident heatsink had been applied and then repacked and shipped to me. Didn't anticipate this from Newegg. I have had quite very good expertise with newegg before but this is fairly unacceptable. Selling open box merchandise as new. Given that i live in Pakistan it would genuinely be impractical for me to rma this and get yet another one while waiting to put my new personal computer together, most of which was bought from newegg along with this heatsink, and none of which thankfully was and open box. Undoubtedly a ZERO EGG for selling used stuff as new.

Dropped my load temps by over 10C on an AMD 1090T ... I now have it clocked at four.2 GHz and haven't seen a temp above 52C even though operating Prime95 torture test for almost a day straight. ླC Ambient temps)It is also almost silent, even with no making use of the inline resistors to drop the RPMs This is not a con but make confident you check the dimensions of your case/mobo/memory mainly because this is the greatest cooler I've observed. Noctua's web site has great compatibility facts on mobos and RAM. Fits like it was produced to be in my antec 300 ... I didn't even have to eliminate my side exhaust fan.

This runs quiet and kept my OCed CPU quite cool. ATTENTION: Check the Noctua internet site for the latest installion instructions and for the motherboard and memory compatibily list. Check you case dimensions and comprehend if your case has a side fan that you might have to take away it to accomadate the size of this cooler. Big. Be warned. Do your study prior to getting it. Check the Noctua internet site as they have a motherboard and memory compatibility list. Note: For the Antec Nine Hundred Two case, you need to get rid of the side fan and mounting braket for this to fit. I was in a position to modify the side panel and preserve the mesh intact so it looks good (if you put a small paperclip under the middle side panel screw (on the inside), it will keep the side mesh in location and prevent it from swinging inward). When installing, wear some rubber gloves to pevent cuts. Dropped load temps from 65 to 40 on a 4Ghz AMD 965 like it was nothing. Fairly quiet (not positive why men and women are saying its loud). Temp idles nicely in the 30's now too. Also looks amazing. Gigantic, I'm often tinkering with my rig and if I have to get to the ram, and so on. I have to eliminate one of the fans...and even then I nonetheless cut up my hand pretty excellent fidgeting around. Covers some parts of the board and could demand complete removal to get to as nicely. Not seriously a con simply because I knew what I was obtaining into to. Nature of the beast. Didn't want to mess with water cooling on this current setup and wanted the finest air cooler about. This is it.Worth the $

Comment:
As I opened the box I was shocked by how nicely this cooler is created and I was happy to see all the goodies that come in the box which includes a shiny metal Nactua case badge/sticker. I bought a lot of fans/heat sinks in my day but by no means expected something like that; you must genuinely love your CPU to treat it with a heat sink of that dimension. When I initially purchased it I thought it was expensive but seeing it and holding it produced me change my mind, the two included fans are worth the cost for their quietness and effectiveness, add to that the high excellent thermal paste and heat sink and you got just about every penny worth. No Cons, if you like lighted or led fans then it may not be for you, if performance is what you're immediately after then you're in the proper place. Client service is a best notch, quite swift and understanding.I’m going to order 3 120mm fans as soon as I see them in stock to replace my Antec 900 case fans.

Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler
Cons:It's huge. I have a narrow mid-sized case and it does not fit with the side panel on unless I mount the fans so no part of them stick above the top of the heatsink, which is not optimal for cooling. However, it's not a problem for me because I always run with an open case.

Pros:Compared to the copper Zalman I had on my Q6600, my temps are much lower, fan noise on high is much lower, my stable OC is higher, and I generally feel that my OC is now limited by my chip and not my cooling. Fans on low are very quiet.
Comment:
Is probably way overkill for my system, but I doubt I'll ever have to worry about the CPU overheating which is great. Read great reviews regarding this product which is why I purchased it, so I can't wait to get it installed. One of the plastic fan blades broke off the heat sink supplied with the Intel chip just running at moderate RPM for no apparent reason, so I'm anxious to get my replacement mounting bracket to get this mongo heat sink installed when the new mounting bracket arrives.

This is the second NH-D14 I've used in a system. If you're looking for the best and most silent air cooler, this is it. Noctua is amazing. I called them and asked for another fan clip so I could mount a third fan, and sent me one free of charge. The only thing that can get you lower temperatures would be proper water cooling (not that Corsair crap).

Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler
Cons:-it's HUGE

Pros:-lowered temperatures-quiet design-massive airflow
Comment:
As many people have stated before, this thing is GIGANTIC. I couldn't believe it when I received my new system. However, Noctua has done an impeccable job in its design. The second 120mm fan allows for adequate clearance over your RAM slots. Keep in mind some of the larger heatsink RAM ie:corsair Vengeance, will not fit. There's a huge list of compatible RAM on Noctua's site, so just make sure you give it a quick scan to make sure yours will fit. I personally use G.Skill Sniper, and there's plenty of room to spare (Ripjaws will also fit). I can't attest to the ease of installation, being lazy I let NCIX throw my system together. However, numerous friends have confirmed they had no difficulties installing theirs. I have it seated on an i7 2600k running OC at 4.0Ghz. It never clears 40C under load. I've pushed it up higher to 4.6 before the fans even ramped up a little bit and it still didn't clear 44C on load. If you don't have a fan controller, I recommend getting one. I have a new one on order right now. With the sheer power of this thing you will never have to run it any higher than "low" settings, unless you're doing some serious overclocking. Amazing heatsink, your CPU will love you.

In comparison to a lapped Zalman CNPS10X-Performa, this lapped Noctua NH-D14 with IC diamond applied lowered temps on my lapped 2600K in an Asus P8P67 Pro running at four.3 GHZ (low I know) around 3 degrees C with the stock fans folding and 5 degrees C with prime and that's with a substantial decrease in noise. A nice soft pleasant hum versus the louder roar of a fan running at 2000 RPM. Putting that fan in with this heatsink would in all probability add a couple far more degrees on best of it. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the cooler. Mounting is outstanding, good and tight. It does fit over GSKILL ripjaws ram (there's a youtube showing this) and the fan mounts are fairly nice high quality too compared to the ones on the zalman. Not that the zalman is bad by any implies. Major, but I have a cooler master HAF 932 so it doesn't matter. Larger is much better. Aluminum dissipates heat properly, having much more surface area is just a win all about. It's stated these sinks are purposely created to be not absolutely flat to compensate for Intel processors which themselves have IHS which are not flat. If you lap your IHS as I do you should lap the heatsink. If you don't lap your processor's IHS, I would advocate not lapping this heatsink either. Lap each or neither.

Large yes but that's the price you pay for an air cooler of this caliber,it just sucks when you hafta take your whole cooler off just to get to the cpu's EPS connecter or in my case to install 2 fans in the ceiling of my chassis...before I got this I was a little disappointed the fans had to be brown/beige but once this bad boy was installed I loved it so much I went and replaced my stock corsair black fans with 2 of noctuas NF-P14 FLX and 1 NF-P12 and now i absolutely love their colors and of course their blissful silence. Also worth mentioning is if you have a fan controller there is never any need to turn the D14 past low speed, only time I have gone any higher is when I stability tested my 2500Ks 4.7Ghz clock using prime and IBT other then that low speed is all youl ever need so feel free to use the noise adapters if you don't have a controller A small tip b4 removing from the box,put on some latex gloves to keep your greasy fingers from tarnishing the smooth aluminum and shiny nickel...And did I mention this thing is Uber.

Incredibly good style. Fans are incredibly quiet, and kit contains harnesses with resistance in them to slow the fan speed for even quieter operation. Only caveat with that is lower fan speeds equal greater CPU temps. Excellent to use for much less fan noise only if you have overhead to spare. This is a nicely-built cooler! The included installation kits are excellent, as is the included thermal compound. Fans can be relocated/moved up or down to enhance clearance or push more air over your motherboard components. The hardware employed to attach the fans is distinctive and straightforward. There are numerous unique methods the cooler can be configured ~~ single or dual fan, 90-degree offset, rear- or best- or front-facing airflow.I. Like. This. Cooler. :-) Not the easiest cooler to install. Fans /must/ be removed to mount plate to motherboard. Due to its huge size, one set of fins will be incredibly close to the rear of the case no matter what. RAM clearance is tricky, but IS TO BE EXPECTED on a cooler of this size. Mounting on a P6X58-EWS making use of 12GB Ɩ sticks) of Patriot PVT36G1600ELK... there was get in touch with among the 1st stick's heatsink and the bottom of the cooler. Very easily fixed by bending the tabs on the two lower plates on that side and gently bending them up. This has small downside as the fix is invisible, and if I wasn't careful I would have surely damaged the RAM, its heatsink, or 1 of the CPU cooler fans. Check your clearances, people today! The RAM I utilised doesn't have heatsinks that are very tall. 1 egg removed for the sloppy clamp fit that the mounting plate shares with the heat exchanger tubes. There is visible mismatch of fit between tubes and plate. It's most likely that the amazing numbers this cooler shows could be bett Virtually removed a different egg mainly because the Noctua website doesn't list correct specifications on the included thermal paste. I took a chance and applied it anyway.Noctua is a firm to watch. This is a incredibly stylish and functional cooler.

I went from 38C idle and 77C load on the stock Intel cooler to 28C idle and 45C load after installing my NH-D14. And by "load", I mean 20 passes in LinX. It's practically completely silent.Simple installation (if it fits in your case, that is). It's gigantic! Make certain your case is massive sufficient, and you might not be able to fit it if your RAM has tall heatspreaders. Also extremely heavy. I zip-tied it to hold it up in my case mainly because I was worried that it may sag and harm my mobo. Noctua's web page has some incredibly superior information about the NH-D14's compatibility and what it can and can't fit with. So be sure to look at that before purchasing. Also, I installed my NH-D14 in a Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced, and it fit, though just barely. And my temps I listed are with MX-four as my TIM.
