jack of all trade
Cons: This phone want to be jack of all trades but is master of none. Every function seems to be inferior. The quality of the 8MP camera cannot compete with older real 8MP camera in photo quality, the face tracking and auto focus works sometimes, the FM tuner can't pick up many local stations in NYC, the FM transmiter is weaker than my 3 dollar cheapo transmiter, the ovi apps store is lacking compare to the Apple apps store, GPS literally takes forever to get a lock, Nokia announced free GPS navigation for their phones but currently you'll still need to buy a licence from nokia to use the driving directions, otherwise the phone only comes with walking direction licence, while google maps with driving directions is free on Android phones, hopefully free gps patch will come soon from Nokia for this phone. Battery lasts less than half as long as my old phone. Some programs comes with the phone requires a paid licence. The signal strength is ok. The phone gets a bit warm when doing certain thing
Pros: this phone has a lot of functions and is slowly improving with firmware updates. |

Defect Product
Cons: I was so excited to having this new phone. I tried to call my friend, they said somehow cannot hear clear from me. So, I tried to install the PC suite for this phone and it asked me to update firmware for it. Then I tried to update a new firmware for this new phone, It suddenly disconnected to PC and device, it looks like restarted and stuck on white screen, then I followed the instruction to remove battery and usb cable, then connect it back. However, It still stuck on the white screen then stun down!!!! I am so mad to have this problem, and I cannot turn on the phone any more!! What can I do then? How bad to having this phone? I cannot fall asleep now, I have no idea how to fix this problem. I just got this phone this afternoon. So bad feeling now!
Pros: I really disappoint with this defect product! Comment:
Seems like the battery cannot support firmware updates then it happens short circuit! |

Outstanding multimedia convergence device.
Cons: S60 is showing its age, although it is every bit as capable as any other mobile OS around.QWERTY would be awesome. A tiny Pre-style QWERTY would be perfect.Small screen resolution. Web browsing suffers. Still good though.Lack of a hardware gpu acceleration chip. Video playback through TV-out suffers. Still usable if video is converted to a low quality (less pleasurable to view, though).
Pros: Fantastic camera, specifically designed to flourish in low-light settings. Variable aperture is great, and the third generation dual LEDs really are much brighter than previous gen. LEDs. 10/10.Feels awesome in the hand. Pictures do not do it justice. Absolutely brilliant industrial design. Metal and scratch-resistant glass are a nice pragmatic touch that I hope Nokia will incorporate in more Nseries devices in the future.Symbian S60! Tons of apps. Bit-torrent on your phone. A limewire-like app even exists for p2p! Any app you desire is there on S60. You just need to dig around the web a bit to find what you want. Google is your friend.Active homescreen is great. Previews of your email right there is a smart choice. The new Nokia Messaging email client is fantastic and feels a lot different than the S60 5th edition NM client. I think that this new N86 NM client might be migrating to the 5th edition OS soon, which is cool, since N86 had it first. Already has firmware up Comment:
The best Nseries device yet (barring the N900 which isn't out yet). |

I got this phone in September. Besides being a sharp looking phone, it was quite useless at everything it promised to do. There were many software glitches such as the phone burned through a full charge in 2 hours while sitting idle with no background apps running, or the few times when the on/off button stoped working, both were fixed with removing the battery. Nokia is slowly fixing the phone's problems with software updates but I fear some of the problems goes beyond what software updates can fix. The camera improved but pixel quality is still lacking. The phone seems more responsive and stable after the update and require less restarts. Currently using firmware version 21.006.
