Operating Asus II Rampage, i7 920, DDR3 2100 Mhz, 9800 GX2, operating HD Tune 500 Mbps in Raid Not positive if it is the hard drive or memory but Windows 7 64 bit version locks up some times for apparently no according to event viewer. Be reading some evaluations and guess some instances writing smaller sized blocks than 4k to SSD can result in lockups. This is commonly only booting to windows and have to drain flea power to resolve the problem and then boots fine. My memory is Geil DDR3 2100 Mhz, have by no means ran it prior to place making use of triple channel 6 gb. Computer runs good in the Cool Master HAF 932, best case ever owned and will never have to purchase a different case either.

Rapidly, reportedly close to the best of its controller class. Supports TRIM, as properly as TRIM-less operating systems like OS X through idle-time cleanup. Manufacturer actively participates in consumer help forum, and is candid and informative on technology--not just somebody with a "Hello, please speak to service" script. Predicted lifetime is decent; the one particular in a Mac reports ten% write lifetime used in nine months--which would make it comfortably obsolete before it wears out. This item is portion of the very first wave of post-Anand SSDs, the initial ones (besides Intel's) suitable for use other than benchmarks. Though correct of all SSDs, this generation is specifically sensitive to use; if applied the same way you'd use a magnetic difficult drive it might make efficiency losses, early put on-out, or both. Tweak the OS config. OCZ suggested that on TRIM-less systems there may possibly be efficiency as well as durability benefits to partitioning, say, ten% less than advertised capacity; the by no means-written blocks act something like a buffer.

It had OK speeds in the year that I owned it, not that a lot better than a tough disk drive, even though to be fair: I may have noticed its performance improvement if i had put the drive in my laptop versus my desktop. It died in just more than a year. It did not come with a two.5" to three.5" adapter back when i bought it but i know they've started to include things like them these days. I have not been a fan of the RMA course of action. OCZ encourages you to make a difficulty ticket where you communicate back and forth with comments on a internet page (they respond via e mail and you can not respond to their emails). Your lucky to get an e mail a day back from them. It's a low tech sort of operation that has resulted in my HTPC getting down for more than a week so far (it'll most likely be down the majority of the month) and me in no way wanting to do organization with OCZ ever again. Can't wait to invest one more complete afternoon getting my HTPC set back up. Two points:They are going to send me yet another drive but I'm not confident if its going to be the exact same model or an upgrade because even although I have asked about an upgrade to a far more stable model, they have not acknowledged it in any correspondence. I would prefer to just get my money back. I don't want a replacement drive to be an additional poor OCZ drive. I consider by now you can tell they've made a great impression on me.I'm not a fan of rebates to start with, the savings ought to be instant, but my second point is a common complaint about how they handle their rebates. This is most likely a trend with retailers, but i do not want a visa card rebate. I have always favor a check and i believe it's messed up that retailers are in a position to get away with this.

Rapid. Great drive to accompany a huge capacity storage drive. Scores a 7.three in Windows 7 if you run it in AHCI. Price tag It is needed to take some time to study how SSDs perform and how to do the required tweaks in order to get the full efficiency. The OCZ forums are a wonderful location to look.

Was incredibly fast for the price when it worked. Each died inside a week of every other following about 4 mths. RMA course of action took over a week and they would not cross ship because the replacements came from Taiwan. My Pc was down for over three weeks since both drives from my raid array had to be replaced. Reading the critiques it appears this is a widespread prob. Would go with a later model which seems to be much more trustworthy and faster too at not too considerably much more income. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the challenge. Getting 2 units fail within a week is highly unusual. Your replacement units will work out fine for you.Thank

Quite fast. Can't believe how fast my laptop boots and reboots. Speed of my old laptop elevated easily 2x. Since it's an old laptop, adding this difficult drive put far more demand on the CPU and improved the temps a bit. Maybe from 42 avg to 50 avg. But I'm confident that's my laptop...removed the difficult drive bottleneck (or lessened it) and put the CPU to work far more (and the reality that SSD leverages the CPU additional than a mechanical drive). Also wish it was bigger. Running an old HP laptop with a Core 2 Duo. It's only SATA I, so I knew I wouldn't get full use of the SSD but it's still substantially quicker. Difference is truly unbelievable. I'm doing fine with the 60GB limit, but I have to manage my usage nicely (move films to the network quickly, and so on). Would make a fantastic boot drive with one more major mechanical drive for storage. Eventually I figure I'll move this to my HTPC to speed it up when this laptop dies.

Fast. Quite fast. Installed windows in about 20 minutes. I was curious about the 10,000 memory cycle life of the chips and downloaded the software program to check. Life cycle was half utilised already. Got more than 5000 cycles on it already. This is standard usage for about four-5 months. Ask for support on OCZ forum with no response. I will be sending this back soon as the drive is practically the finish of its cycles. Manufacturer Response:Hello, the life expectancy of the MLC chips in this drive is about 35 years when 50gb of data per day is written to it. To shorten the life to 1 year would need a user writing about 1750gb per day. This would need completely erasing and filling the drive 66 times per day, every single day. We have linked to an excellent write-up beneath that goes into good detail on the subject. Our support staff could have missed your post, and we aplogize for that. A lot faster than a difficult diskSilentModestWorth the costWonderful drive SSDs are not for every person imo (or the chances of death/rma are greater)SSDs ought to not be totally nor nearly totally loaded (or the chances of death/rma are higher)Firmware upgrades are not necessary on this drive. It already has what is essential (or the probabilities of death/rma are greater) Use AHCI in the bios and setup windows correctly to use an SSD drive for the least write amount to the disk. For instance put/run as considerably into RAM as achievable even such as as significantly as possible with the net browser as in get rid of disk cache and use RAM cache.Make positive you let the Computer idle just about every now and then and have the power options set properly so the drive can do garbage collection.I WOULD NOT install a 60GB SSD on someones Pc who does not know what they're performing! Whatever the person's highest existing space usage is plus 50% a lot more space is the greatest alternative else its superior to just go with a normal old difficult disk or the chances of death/rma are greater.I have had this now for more than 1 year and its going the similar as it did day one. Heed my guidance and it will most most likely last you a long time too.

It's rapidly .... my boot occasions cut from threeᛆ to ᛆ. That's quickly. Not a negative deal, picked it up for a cool 贎 with a ฤ rebate knocking it down to ๪. 60GB is not enough, in reality it's in all probability the minimum you want to get by with on a boot drive. Also at the present configuring factors for SSDs want you to maintain mindful about what apps store on an SSD to prolong its life. I'll admit it's not "mind-blowing rapid" but don't get me incorrect that doesn't mean I feel it's not rapid! I wish I could throw a couple of games on here. 60GB is sufficient space for Win7, a few important programs like Visual Studio, Office and the like as properly as 1 game. Those deciding among a 40GB or 60GB are well advised to get a 60GB. You won't regret it 1 bit...

I have two of these in a RAID array, about to add a third thanks to Newegg's awesome Shellshocker deal. They have good throughput but remember to set your stripe level to 128KB or above! I set it to 4K the very first time I installed windows, and it took about 1ǘ the performance off. They are silent, and really cool operating. 1 con I can assume of is access time. I don't assume that .1 is entirely accurate. I'm working with Windows 7 so the drives ought to be aligned, but they still aren't as quick as my Super Talent Ultradrive Me 64GB. They don't stutter, they just hang a bit when you attempt to access too a lot of items at when. It's a fair trade for their lower price I suppose, but I hope OCZ can do some thing to strengthen it... My SATA6 Caviar Black 1TB is pretty much as quick. If you're going for a single SSD setup, get a diverse drive. These aren't quick sufficient on their own to give a marked improvement over a 7200RPM drive. I'd suggest Super Talent's Ultradrive Me, but they are pretty scarce. If you can discover them they MSRP for 贬 (for the 64GB) but they are mind-bogglingly fast.

Extremely rapidly, not certain why I waited so lengthy to get an SSD. Costly, but with any early technology that is going to be the case. As costs drop, it will turn into much more reasonably priced. Not everybody is going to need to have an SSD, on the other hand, it does bring one more area of efficiency to the front (hard drives) which had been lacking. Make positive you do a clean install of you OS on this drive and if you do not have Windows 7, get it, since it was made to work with an SSD and automagically sets itself up for the drive.

Quick. Reasonably priced. Ease of updating firmware. three year warranty. Too rapidly? No 2.five ----> 3.five conversion kit. The rebate process, so I hear. With a 7.3 Win7 score, this thing is just insane. 20 second boot up times are worth each penny. Need to have upgraded to SSD lengthy ago, glad costs are finally going down on this technology. As with all new technology, make certain to keep frequent backups and have backup hardware ready.

These and the Intel X25s are definitely the price:performance champs at the moment. Next-gen SSDs really don't bring significantly a lot more tangible performance to the table unless you genuinely need the faster writes for some certain purpose. The difference between a mechanical drive and any SSD is so astronomical that the actual-life performance difference between this and a newer sandforce SSD is trivial in comparison.I opted for a pair of these in RAID0 over Intel simply because of the natively supported garbage collection, which alleviates any concerns about the lengthy-term effects of TRIM not working by means of the RAID array. Also, if you're going to RAID a pair of SSDs on a non-intel onboard controller (AMD or nvidia) your RAID controller's downstream will be saturated with either drive so you could as effectively capitalize on the extra write speeds supplied by OCZ. I got these when they had been 贗 AR as a shell shocker, which is a very good deal these days, but I will regret it in 6 months or so when new drives (particularly Intel G3) push the costs down. Upgrading the method drive to an SSD is the greatest single upgrade you're going to come across in terms of end-user performance in the vast majority of genuine-life desktop computing/gaming situations, not to mention the power-saving positive aspects to a mobile computer system. It's like the first time you went from dialup to broadband; it could not have seemed THAT critical yesterday but you're certain as hell not going back willingly as soon as you've had it.

Amazing performance under Windows 7 - replaces a striped boot array and blows it away. Excellent cost even without rebate. No cons for the drive; it's all I'd hoped for. Was temped to remove one egg simply because my rebate application was accepted on 4ቪ, it's now 6ǝ and no sign of rebate. Even some kind of proactive info about what's going on would be welcome. 4-6 weeks for rebates makes no sense: I got the physical drive in a few days: why would the rebate take MONTHS? Unacceptable. The subsequent time I see a rebate on something from OCZ I'm going to discount the rebate from my acquiring choice; it cannot be relied upon. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are pleased that your drive has working well. Our rebates are handled by a professional rebate residence and are taking about 12 weeks to procedure at this time.
