Possibly very best or one of the ideal Worth SSDs right now. Large difference when you switch from HDD to SDD. Rebate came yesterday after about 3 months. If you have older computer it's best that you don't put your pc to Sleep or Hibernation. There's some energy difficulties I've seasoned like laptop or computer crashing immediately after few hours in Sleep mode. One particular time pc turned on in the middle of night and shut down immediately after like 5min even though in Sleep mode. So yea, just do cold Shut Down so your drive doesn't get damaged on older (pre-SSD) systems, besides, technique loads are extremely rapid. I wouldn't blow away ton of dollars on SSD drives proper now, it's nonetheless reasonably new technologies so there's a lot of improvements to make. This drive is a good starter SSD.

Very quick (compared to HDDs), trustworthy drives. OCZs forums have the answers to all your concerns and then some. A breeze to RAID and install Win7 on. Superior stuff. Doesn't come with adapter brackets for three.5". Not a massive difficulty, considering that no moving parts and high shock resistance, just set them on the "floor" of the case. They do give off some heat, decent case airflow is nevertheless a need to.

I use this drive on my Macintosh clone. Overall performance drastically improved. Effortless to install; utilized a drive cloning software program and i'm up and running in a couple of hours. There are comparable drives but the reason i chose this brand was the rebate. I thought the complaints about the rebate were unfounded till it occurred to me. I was supposed to get the ฤ rebate by the end of August. I know US postal mail could be slow, but this is ridiculous. Also, even though there is awebsite to check the status of the rebate, there is no make contact with information on there just in case there's a problem...now i wonder why that is? If you're getting mainly because of the rebate, assume once again. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the rebate dealy. We will be happy to make contact with the rebate residence to adhere to up on your claim, and will see that all valid claims are paid. Please email rebates@ocztechnology.com and contain your full name, address, product, and date and spot of obtain. Thank you

Loved the 1st one of these that i had put in my principal rig so significantly i got the 120GB version, and put this in my laptop. The distinction is amazing, particularly for on the internet gaming and net surfing. Cost...but is this seriously new news? And only a minor gripe as the price has been dropping like a rock as competition grows. Only SSD mfg I will use.

Comment:
Bought "mac edition". Drive shipped with most existing firmware Ƒ.five). Shipping was rapid, and the value was proper. Installation in my 4 year old Macbook Pro was a breeze, around 40 minutes to disassemble, install SSD, reassemble. Installation of OSX was flawless, due to the size ࿜GB), I deselected language packs, etc, to lower the install size.Efficiency over the old 5400RPM SATA II drive was clearly noticeable, OSX boots in about three seconds, larger applications such as Photoshop load considerably quicker. Disk Size at 60GB is 1ǘ of the original 120GB drive I removed, although that is what external NAS enclosures are for, and USB/Firewire drives. This SSD along with an raise of memory ƔGB) in my Macbook Pro will certainly give me a different couple of years of good use and performance.

Received and installed last night, no issues. Ghosted Win7 64 Ultimate from 500gb SATA, ran Win7 Repair install on initially boot to make it bootable. Verified TRIM was active, did a couple of minor tweaks (ie. disable superfetch, defrag, etc). Ran HD Tune v2.5 which tests read and access time - High 241 MB/s Low 181 MB/s Avg 229 MB/s, close to advertised! Really Good! Have but to run write tests. Win7 WEI score 7.3 for drive. Will update following much more testing. NEW EGG ROCKS!! Definitely none so far! Do a little investigation ahead of time on forums and such for finest practices, extremely helpful.

Reasonably affordable for the excellent unit you get. Quickly, I practically hit the floor convulsing when I saw my machine boot a clean install of Fedora 13 x86_64 from grub to login in under ten seconds Without any tweaking yet. Considerably faster than my Raptor X. Clean (with no actual information on it but) it clocked in at 256MB/s reads w/ hdparm -Tt /dev/sda, 245MB/s following really a bit of writes, nonetheless over the rated 230MB/s so I'm ecstatic. Got it for the TRIM support and I appreciate the advanced ATA 8 spec and Intelligent support. This is all w/ the builtin Intel SATA2 controller in AHCI mode. Overall, I am quite pleased. No actual cons, just minor gripes...Smart reports there is no temperature sensor. Would be good, but certainly I'm not gonna ding them on it, because maybe temp isn't as essential as it is with standard spinning platter drives exactly where lubricants come into play. Also you have to manually tell smartd to not look at the conventional Intelligent ID 197 and 198 for Present_Pending_Sector and Offline_Uncorrectable, as these seem to be some sort of Read and Write odometers for the SSD and not bad sector trackers. So smartd starts to freak out about ever growing failing sectors (in the millions within hours). And if you can think it, its TOO DARNED QUIET! :P (still utilised to my ridiculously loud Raptor X) Got this after a friend of mine was burned by an OCZ Core or Core two, can't recall, from a year or two ago that began off with good efficiency but then swiftly got slow, like painfully slow at occasions. Read great reviews about why that was and that this drive came with a half way decent controller. All in all I hope it lives up to its hype, so far so great. I can't speak about the issues other people have had with older firmware versions or what the firmware upgrade process is like, due to the fact mine shipped with the most current 1.five out of the box which was nice. Rebate approach is moving along, but kinda slowish...ten seconds from Grub to login on Shuttle XPC w/ Intel Q6600 w/ 4GB of OCZ DDR800 running Fedora 13 x86_64.

eye popping speed upgrade for low expense. Incredibly effortless install. SSD's are nonetheless fairly expensive, particularly at memory greater than 60 GB. Luckily with a house server to hold the bulk of my music, video and picture files this 60 GB drive is far more than sufficient.

Truthfully, performing a clean install when I 1st got the drive I didn't notice my computer system becoming that considerably faster than with a new install on a conventional drive. 6 months later, I had to boot up on my old partition (keep it about just in case) and I was blown away by how slow in felt in comparison to the SSD. Really is an amazing efficiency increase. ุ rebate went AWOL. Originally got rejected, named and disputed their claim, they mentioned I was proper and the check was in the mail, never ever came. A rebate is a massive sufficient hassle with out getting to fight for it. Feel of this acquire as an investment, any time you load an app or restart you save a few seconds. If you are a heavy user, over the life of the drive you could save weeks worth of time.

It worked initially properly (purchased from NE fiveቷ񳏊) as "D" drive for files. Rebate, no challenge if you follow the instructions. Did domino upgrade as follows: Imaged this 60G Vertex "D" (w/ Casper 6.) to new 120G Vertex "D". Imaged my 30G Vertex Win 7 64 boot (again w/Casper) to this 60G D. win 7 boot image to Upgraded Had no difficulty imaging from prior HDD boot to 30G SSD. Image from 30G SSD to 60G SSD did not go nicely. A lot of and a variety of errors (no Post, no SSD in Bios, no SSD in Windows, BOSD, "bad disk - you name it). Seriously had to hunt OCZ forums for probable fixes (tried them all - fresh install, sanitary erase, destructive "reset", alignment, clear CMOS - sequentially swap out of memory, CPU, PS, and so on. tried everything!) Requiring quite a few fresh W7 installs. No joy. Finally went back to original HDD boot. No problems there. Tried Corsiar 64 SSD. Imaged Corsair SSD from HDD - no difficulties and its operating fine so far. I'll be RMAing to OCZ as I'm certain it's pretty considerably bricked. Right after careful consideration, I came to the following personnel conclusions regarding OCZ drives:Quite a few differing OZC models most likely mean they source differing components at differing specifications. Inside each and every model (based on forums instructing to to ID the particular NAND inside every model) there appears to be variability of manufacturing top quality amongst component suppliers and assemblers. As a end user (I'm fairly capable) I shouldn't have to go thru that amount of trouble shooting and digging for info that must be supplied with the SSD. Or at least consolidated, readily and effortlessly accessible from OCZ (as other people noted their net web-site and "forums" are a informational obstacle course.Based on the number and extent of problems noted on the OCZ forums, I believe reliability and longevity of their SSD's is questionable at very best. Appears like luck of the draw. Case in point my tiny 30G Vertex is nonetheless AOK and I may well recycle that to an aging Netbook.... Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are incredibly sorry for the problem, and we will be happy to assist you with an RMA for a replacement drive. Very good manufacturer warranty, straightforward to install has worked flawlessly so far. Fantastic boot drive, system begin up is now a breeze. Now that I've tried an SSD for my method/boot drive I don't feel I'll ever go back and if OCZ keeps performing at this level I'll be obtaining their SSDs for my systems for the foreseeable future. The rebate approach takes 10+ weeks and that's if there are no holdups. I would rather have half the discount directly applied to the retail price. I've heard some SSDs have a read/write challenge exactly where specific sectors start off to fail immediately after about a year in the course of the information read/write method. I have NOT encountered any of these issues with my OCZ drive but I haven't hit the one year mark but so this could crop up, nevertheless considering their warranties and quality manage I actually don't expect to see that in the case of this drive.

Good brand, very good size, and very good read speeds at a pretty good cost comparatively. Following running a couple of speed tests, my typical read was 212 MB/s, which is pretty close to advertised. Boots up Windows 7 from the Windows logo to my desktop in 6-8 seconds. 70 MB/s write is very slow, which is why I'd suggest this as your OS drive and nothing additional. My drive in fact failed soon after a month. I RMA'd it back to OCZ and they sent out a new drive the next day. Just about every now and then you get a poor egg, so I'm not going to knock them for that. Difficult drives fail sometimes. Superior thing they have exceptional consumer support even though.

I purchased two of them and put in raid . I have a very very good read speed (more than 400megs/sec) and acceptable write speed with massive files.three years OCZ warranty ! poor write speed with little size, the new vertex and agility (vertex le, vertex 2, agility two) with new sandforce controller are actually quicker. There's a garbage collector create-in with this ssd, so , when the drive is idle, it do a trim like. Practical in raid simply because trim command of win7 doesn't work in raid. The sandforce controller doesn't have GC at this moment, that's why I decide on this ssd.Ocz Vertex it's an old generation, but still give a excellent efficiency. Buy it only when it's in particular! At times the cost is quite close than the new quicker sandforce models !

This is my second 1, I bought this one to location them in Raid . Raid is not actually a require, as the challenging drive scores a 7.4 Windows expertise, so its not the bottleneck, but 64GB is not enough for Windows 7 IMO. Windows 7 64 bit takes ㅐGB without having the fluff, and most games are approaching the 20GB limit. This puts you genuine close to the page file ࿵% rule). Cost, which is obvious. I went from a solo SSD to raid with 2 of these, and my Windows 7 expertise dropped from a 7.4 to a 6.9. This might be since I selected the 128KB Stripe, but two operating in Raid should be faster regardless. This may well just be a Windows problem. If I could do it all over once again, I would have just bought 1 bigger SSD and not messed with raid, but am happy with this item.

Little, looks terrific. Silly rapidly boot and OS operation. Silent. Does not come with a two.5" to three.5" bay conversion, had to get a kit for a couple of bucks. Windows 7 64 bit installed on this small puppy; boot up time is very quickly but far more importantly, I can launch any application the instant I see the job bar, there's no waiting. Once windows is booted, i can do something immediately. Amazing! Also, please keep in mind to not defrag Solid State Drives!
