Cons: Difficult to update  firmware.

Pros: PriceSpeed
Comment:
Bought this drive to replace the mechanical in my new Laptop. Works flawlessly, even though I am having trouble enabling trim on my chipset, have not experienced any slow down yet. Perhaps the ocz automatic gc is working properly.

OCZ Vertex Series 2.5" Solid State SATA II Hard Drive - 60GB
Cons: -At the price? absolutely nothing

Pros: -Amazing sale price-Performance
Comment:
The sale price was amazing... 100 dollars before rebate. This is a significant step up for me from my Samsung F3 1T (1 of the fastest 7200rpm hdd's). Sure it's not as fast as the new Sandforce stuff... but for 50% less price, this is definitely a great drive.

OCZ Vertex Series 2.5" Solid State SATA II Hard Drive - 60GB
Cons: - Size, I know the main point of these drives are not for mass storage, but you are really looking at ~50gb after installing an OS. If you want to dual-boot or install VMs, it gets even smaller.

Pros: - A lot faster than any mechanical 2.5" drives. I replaced my notebook's HDD with this drive and you can really notice the difference in boot time and even application loading time
Comment:
- 4-stars because at the current price, it might make more sense to get the Vertex2 instead, since that one uses the Sandforce controller which is supposedly faster.- Perfect size for a boot drive in a system which also uses some mechanical drives for storage.- If you are using for in a notebook which can only mount 1 2.5" drive, might want to evaluate the storage you need and consider the 90G or the 120G versions.

Cons: Nil so far..

Pros: Quick drive!
Comment:
Make my rig real snappy!! Bought one as OS drive and no more tapping fingers in front of the screen. With some tweaks the OS is down to 10G and you still have some room to play with. Best investment on hardware so far.

Cons: Old controller, but still good

Pros: Blazing FastAwesome price for entry SSDGreat Warranty by OCZ
Comment:
Can't go wrong with the price of this drive. If you want to test out SSD but don't want to pay the full price for SandForce, then this is the route to go.Although not as fast in transfer rates, its boot up time is similar to SandForce and this is still a good buy. Although at this point, I will have to say the extra $15 for SandForce is worth it.If you don't have an SSD yet, hold out and wait for the new SandForce controller Phoenix.

Cons: -None

Pros: -Fast-Fast-Did I mention this was fast

This little addition made a big difference in my PC. Installed W7 64 and wow everything seems much faster. I think the biggest differences were boot and productivity apps like MS word, excel and the like. I have a few profiles setup and when I actually log in the background apps load super fast. None of that here’s your desktop but you can’t work yet because windows has to load all of your load on boot/login apps.Love this drive!SystemWindows 7 64Custom water cooling loop (CPU & GPU)Q9550 h 3.8ghz4 gigs or Ram2 x 1 TB Cavair Blacks8800 GTS G92 X-Fi Prelude

Bought this just to spoil myself pretty much, I've wanted a SSD for a while now. Plus it was selling for 99 (after rebate) which I thought was a GREAT deal. So far I am very impressed. Windows 7 starts up and shuts down verrrrryyy fast. Also things just respond faster overall. Games also load very quickly as well! Obviously there are faster drives out there but for the money this one is definitely worth it!

Cons: None.

Pros: Low price.Well builtGreat support from OCZLightning fast compared to mechanical drives.Trim and GC support.
Comment:
I bought this for an upgrade on my wifes machine along with Win 7. It was previously running XP on a 7200RPM drive. The increase in speed and responsiveness is simply unreal, hard to believe it's the same computer!! 60GB is plenty for a basic OS install and a bunch off apps and software. I've had a 120GB Vertex in my own rig for a long time now and anytime I use someone elses comp with a mech HD, it drives me nuts because it's too slow...lol!!! PS- paid about $115 AR which is a steal for this much performance. These were $200+ not long ago! The Vertex is an older series from OCZ but still very, very fast by any standard. Scoop one of these up while they are clearing them out. OCZ warranty and support is industry leading as well. Highly recommended!

Bought this for my dad's old laptop. Boot time, program access, and shut down time drastically changed and brought new life to the laptop.I was hoping it would also be lighter than the laptop's HDD but there was not much change in weight.Heat wise it runs a lot cooler than the old HDD which is nice for a laptop.Great product but only get on sale. Even on sale the price is relatively high but it's the cost you pay for new technology : (

OCZ Vertex Series 2.5" Solid State SATA II Hard Drive - 60GB
Cons: cost per gigabyte

Pros: speed, no noise
Comment:
Got this on sale for $160 and installed in a fairly new computer. I just did a disk clone of the previoys hard drive and swapped them so installation was a snap. Overall, its the quietest computer I've had in years.Noticeable improvement in boot speed and apps run SUPER fast.I use this just for the OS and assorted apps with all storage on a conventinal hard drive. The only complaint is how expensive SSD's are overall. Still it's a new technology, prices will come down. And while relatively expensive, with respect to the speed improvement you will see, it's still a lot of bang for your buck

Been using this SSD for the past 2 weeks, did not have any problems with it. A tip to those adding a SSD on top of previous hard drives: make sure that you unplug your previous drives when installing this SSD. If you don't unplug them, the SSD will not be the boot drive.Overall amazing SSD, strongly recommended.

OCZ Vertex Series 2.5" Solid State SATA II Hard Drive - 60GB
Cons: None, except for form factor

Pros: Fast, no noise, sips power, incredible system snappiness
Comment:
Installation was a breeze, and there are no real optimizations that you need to perform on this drive to get it to work. If you must you can disable a few services, but the drive is very close to plug and forget. It functions transparently and I'm not worried about testing random reads or writes; the difference is there and the testing will be reserved until I feel it gets significantly worse, which it shouldn't as TRIM and GC is working.

This as changed/extended my PC's life. Can't wait for the price of bigger ones to come down. Apps load super fast. I have an older PC and it speed-ed things up a lot. Make sure you have the latest firmware version. This this is also noiseless. Low heat. Low power.

I think I am spoiled. Don't think I can ever go back to platter based driver for the OS partition ever. If only I got enough change to install one in the spare Pentium 3 system just for giggles if anything.

I have an application that was disk-bound, hence the SSD. Instant, dramatic improvement. My combination of a 965 BE Phenom II, this SSD, and a Radeon 5750 video card is nicely balanced without any performance bottlenecks. As SSD prices fall, they will be even more attractive.

I'm very glad I went with this drive in my HTPC build. Like the other reviewers the system boots Windows incredibly fast. No moving parts mean less noise, heat and energy consumed. Remember to buy an adapter to 3.5

Just one of these SSD's in my NEW system is almost 100 Mbs faster read speed then my OLD system which had RAID 0 Rap-tors which were on a VERY high end PCIE16 RAID card. 229 Mbs vs. 133 Mbs. Set up of the OS Win Seven HP 64 bit only took about 10 minutes and it boots up ready to use in less than 30 seconds... TD shipped this to me is 3 days by regular ground. I think I'll be back soon for another one of these, I'm dying to see what 2 of these will do in RAID 0.....

I purchased this ssd when it was on sale, but unfortunately, I can only use it on my 6 year old p4 computer. I still get high read/write speeds of about 110 mb/s, but it's not at it's full speeds. Can't wait till I use this on a new computer being bought this summer!

Started with an Agility on my MiniITX server running W2003. Been running fast and smooth for 2 months now as a webserver. I was building a new desktop and wanted to benefit by the speed improvements using SSD. I got this one and am already of thinking of another to go RAID 0 and get massive I/O speeds.

OCZ Vertex Series 2.5" Solid State SATA II Hard Drive - 60GB
Cons:Cost per GB.

Pros:Great speeds, "nonexistant" seek times, overall great performance
Comment:
Though the cost per GB is 30x higher than a hard drive, it's worth it for a slow system. I would recommend this to many people as the one choice to speed up a sluggish system. Often times you're not limited by processor or RAM (which are the two things people seem to think need to be upgraded and the machine will magically go twice as fast), but rather by the storage device.During startup, I can start using programs the second the desktop appears. If I tried that on a mechanical drive, I'd be waiting about a minute just for the first program to appear as it's trying to load up both my startup items and my desired application at the same time. The lack of (perceived) seek times really shines through.Mine came with FW1.4, haven't updated yet. Not sure if I even need to.
