Good computer upgrade
Comment:
I bought this drive for a gamming laptop upgrade, the faster you can get into the game online ex BF2, the less walking because all your teammates have Rapters and have already appeared in game and have left with the vehicles. the downside is that they could have thrown in four little screws to save the hunting trip. |

fast ssd performance at a reasonable price
Comment:
I had read about all the great performance gains to be had from an SSD upgrade, and I didn't want to shell out the cash for an Intel drive. For anyone who wants SSD performance today, and does not want to wait for prices to drop further, this is an excellent drive to get. I boot into Windows 7 RC in 30 seconds, and have seen great reductions in program startup times. The fact that the wiper utility is available for these drives, with the promise of native TRIM in the future, means that this is a great drive for anyone who wants a good SSD today without breaking the bank. |

Best Upgrade Available
Comment:
Remember back in the day when you had that "Turbo" button on your computer? Well, this is pretty much what this drive does for you. This is without a doubt the best upgrade i have made in a long time. I went from a WD Raptor drive to this as my OS drive and it smokes the Raptor. I'm running Windows 7 and setup was as easy as any other drive. It only took 8 minutes to install Windows 7 on this drive. This is the future of hard drives. If you can afford it don't wait! You will not be dissapointed! Windows XP users should read the OCZ forums for optimal performance setup. Vista and Win7 users just install as usual. |

Cure for your PC
Comment:
I have been going through several 7200 rpm Seagate Momentus in all sizes and thought those were fast... But since I got the Vertex, my HP mobile workstation 8510w performs at least 10 times better. XP boottimes in less than 25 seconds, IE 8, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat files open instantly. The HDD busy light barely gets a mean look nowadays. If you are being frustrated with your slow PC, get the Vertex SSD! Priceless. |

OCZ Vertex Series 2.5" Solid State SATA II Hard Drive - 60GB
Cons:Write times no faster than standard HDDs, still expensive on a $ per GB basis. Didn't come with an adapter mount for 3.5" bays, but not really a big deal - just velcroed the drive to the side.
Pros:Fast boot/load/read times, quiet, cheaper than the Intel SSD's with performance that nearly rivals them. Comment:
Drastic improvements in boot time and application loading - Windows and Photoshop CS4 load in 1/2 the time now. Approaches the Intel SSD performance at a much better value. Have to take the usual precautions for SSDs (turn off defragment, pagefiling), but with prices coming down for SSDs, this may be the single best upgrade for many machines these days. |

2x to 5x faster system
Comment:
Was running a 74gb Raptor and thought I had a pretty fast system. Put this Vertex in as main drive and now when I boot back to the Raptor it seems slow. From startup to shutdown and all apps opened inbetween the system runs 25 times faster. Best money you can spend for a system upgrade. |

OCZ Vertex Series 2.5" Solid State SATA II Hard Drive - 60GB
Cons:Pricey. Requires adaptor for desktop.
Pros:Fast. Version with good controller. Comment:
Installed the OS and basic programs on this drive and start-up on vista ultimate is less than a minute probably around 30-45s. Installations felt much faster as well as most processes. |

INCREDIBLY FAST

I installed it in my 17" Macbook Pro (Late 2007) and it's so fast... rebooting takes nearly no time, app launching is tremendous, and photo edition has become a smooth process... |

Good Drive For the Money! Install was a snap, loaded a fresh copy of Vista x64 on my dualcore 2.8ghz P4 with 8gb ram and noticed a HUGE difference in program and file load times CPU usage went down a lot too. Plus, havng 64mb of cache on a drive when a normal Seagate only has 8 really helps out too. About the only con is the price, but compared to the Intel drives this one is reasonable. This drive is one to highly consider for any gamer or graphic design users... very fast, quiet, and reliable! |

Comment:
I bought this drive a few weeks ago. Wasn't sure what to expect, as it was replacing a 7200rpm Seagate Momentus drive. The difference is night and day. That drive, with a fresh install of Windows 7, build 7077 is substantially snappier than a mechanical HD. Benchmarks suggest it's 3-4 times faster than my mechanical hard drive, and that seems like an understatement in real-worlds apps. Seek time is a consistent 0.1ms. Supre-fast! It may not be as fast as an X-25, but factor in the price differential , and the Vertex is a clear winner, in my opinion. |

Comment:
Great drive. Fast. But not entirely reliable. It could just be my motherboard which happens to be an unknown Asus board, but this drive occasionally will not be detected by my computer. I just hop into BIOS and reset it back up to be the primary drive and away it goes. I am more than willing to put up with this for the speed increase it gives. Overall, barely worth the price. Installed this SSD into a MacBook (2006 white case). No problems were encountered with formatting the disk using a GUID partition table under Intel AHCI. File system is Journaled HFS+. OS was loaded using Carbon Copy Cloner via Firewire in under 15 minutes. This is one fast disk to say the least. Boot time was under 13 seconds. Battery life is improved to over 2.5 hours with disk intensive read/writes. |

This product is great. It makes my laptop so fast. I think, the best upgrade for laptop is to change hdd to ssd. The price might be a little high but believe me, it worth it. I have not upgrade its framework to newest (I don't know how to do it on laptop) but with simple tweaks I got: min. 152, max. 176, and ave. 165 (for reading). I'm not very good in computer so I didn't do more (it is fast enough). |

Comment:
SSD drives have been out for a while now but they have only really offered the smaller benefits till now such as low power, durability and sillence (which are awesome pros). The only SSDs that could offer performance gain, however, were the Intel x25-m and x25-e. Bloody awesome drives they are, but way too expensive for the average joe. Now it is here: The single greatest component upgrade you can make to make your computer sing, is ''this'' afordable SSD drive (or the really expensive Intels). Don't go for any other drives at this point in the race. (And you can put it in your laptop too.) Go to the OCZ forums for extra SSD tweak info. |
I installed this in my new Dell Mini 10v (hackintosh'd). It was really fast, but the netbook itself just wasn't fast enough to justify a (smallish) $200 SSD. I'm going to buy a Mac Mini and put it in there, and make do with a 5400 rpm / 250 GB drive in the 10v. Love the speed; can't afford the 120+ GB versions.
