does not work
Cons: on my first try to copy a file (1.4 gb divx) to this drive - I got "Data Error:cyclic redundancy check" error. Ran CHKDSC (found a lot of errors on a new drive!!!) and tried again - was able to copy this file (7 min), but the next - similar - file failed to copy.Running CHKDSC again did not help.Managed to copy the same files to another flash drives without any issues - which shows that the problem is related to Patriot Memory Now have to return this drive to newegg.Very disapointed.

Great little flash drive
Cons: none, but a lanyard would have been nice to include.
Pros: I've gone through quite a few flash drives (usually end up losing them) or recently my Corsair broke (usb connector went bad, plus the rubber housing makes it bulky). anyhow, got this new patriot drive -- much thinner then the Corsair and the performance is quite good, especially for the price. Write Speed: 11 MB/secRead Speed: 28 MB/secNot bad for the money. I'd recommend it and it fits in the pocket nicely. Comment:

Good flash drive
Cons: Actual drive space is 7.45 gig. I know that's just how it goes but for once I'd like to buy some storage media that fits as much as it says.
Pros: This is a pretty good flash drive. Sleek design and small. It fits very securely (almost too tight) into usb ports. Comment:
Shipping was terrible with this product. The actual package is barely larger than a deck of 3.5 notecards but it took 12 days to get to me. Newegg is usually really quick on delivery but "UPS mail innovations" dropped the ball on this one. |

Cons: its not 128gigs
Pros: Works faster than my other flash drives...reads and installs much quicker. The Patriot name is synonymous with reliability and performance. I doubt this will burn out, but for the price...id rather buy another than complain. Comment:

Why is it so slow?
Cons: It is the slowest USB drive I have ever used. I purchased this to avoid slow CD and DVD install times and I'm not sure this saves me any time.As others have posted, its not compatible with Windows 7 Ready Boost.

I have used at least 10 of these types of drives over the years and I suspect something may be wrong with it since it is so slow but I see other posts with the same issue.I use this drive to install apps, service packs, and utilities versus using multiple CD's or DVD's. We bought two keys in the same order. This one and a Patriot X-Mini (ttp://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=28946&vpn=PSF8GMUSB&manufacture=Patriot)This key has less than half the speed of the mini key and is about twice as big, all for the same price. I'd go with the mini if you want more for your money!The build quality seems good though and it is slim compared to some keys of similar length. |

All I get is 6MB/s tops, which is really irritating since wtih 8GB to spare I was hoping to copy several large files. 1GB file took minutes to complete.Tested the speed with HDSpeed. My friend's Kingston gets ~16MB/s, I get ~8MB/s with HDSpeed. |

Annoying
Cons: The key chain hook is flimsy as all hell and tiny. Mine finaly broke on me today after... around 40 days... just out of my return range. Looks like im going to have to try and use the manfactuers warantee not that, will do much good. As probably around another 40 days after I get a replacement the new one will break...

Great Flashdrive
Cons: The cap can be be a little hard to take off. It gets easier once you know how to do it.
Pros: This is a great flash drive. I wanted an inexpensive flash drive for work and picked up 2 of these. I was worried because it didn't look like it had a status light, but when i plugged it in a red light appeared threw the dark plastic. That was a nice detail.No software is pre loaded on this, which is good. Comment:

Okay, about that NTFS formatting thing... I found directions on a web site (can't post link - Google search "format flash drive ntfs") and it's really easy. I reformatted my new drive NTFS and it works just fine. When formatting, it may not show the progress bar like it normally does, but it'll let you know in less than a minute that it has been formatted (using quick format). |

Very reliable
Cons: I have yet to find anything negative about this.
Pros: I've seen some others mention it isn't bootable. If your autorun setting for that drive are turned off, it won't. In a reformat situation, you can set the BIOS to read from the pen drive first.I set up a slipstream install on mine and with autorun turned on, it *will* attempt to install WindowsXP. Do a search for "slipstream XP install" for a much easier recovery. You can include backup settings in another directory so that once you've reformatted, reinstate your settings.I've been using the stick to transfer under-4g files, so I haven't tried formatting it NTFS, but I'll be buying another one soon and I'll try with that one.Hope all this helps some! The transfer rates are on par with what I'd expect of a small flash drive. The technology doesn't seem to be as advanced for them as some expect, but if you aren't anticipating transfer speeds around the same as between two clean, defragged SATA drives, you'll be sorely disappointed. I'm a bit spoiled by fast transfers between other drives, but I've learned to be more patient when using my pen drives. |
