RAZER Black Wired BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Cons:Takes awhile to get used to key placement.

Pros:Very responsive keyboard
Comment:
I got this keyboard for Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3 last year. It replaces an 8 year old Logitech multimedia keyboard. After 1 year of intensive gaming, the keyboard still feels as solid as the first day I got it. The paint on the keys hasn't faded much at all. My friends are always impressed with how great it feels to type on it. The only downside is that it takes a bit of time to get used to the key placement. There isn't as much of a gap between keys and the button press registers quickly so typing on it was a bit weird. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

Comment:
This is my initial mechanical keyboard, and the keys really feel excellent. The click when you hit a key, both audible and tactile, is incredibly satisfying. Undoubtedly a entire various ballpark of feel from a widespread rubber dome keyboard, which feels really "mushy" when I go back to it.I actually uncover myself opening up Notepad and just typing gibberish because the keys are so satisfying to press.I was a little bit concerned about the lack of a accurate wrist rest (there is a bit of a "ramp" but it's not a wrist rest) mainly because my old Microsoft keyboard had one. Turns out I didn't even notice the difference. The extendable feet to raise the keyboard angle, while I don't normally use them, really feel very sturdy and really seem to make the keyboard quieter to use. There's no "bounce" like I expected from working with it with the feet extended.Unlike many other reviewers, I in fact like the font used on the keys. Very first and foremost, this is a luxury, not a necessity. It won't improve your game. You won't get added utility for the high price (compared to a regular rubber dome keyboard). It's like leather seats in your car; it just feels nicer. The column of macro keys on the left edge of the keyboard took some getting used to, as I applied to use the left Ctrl important to discover my position on the keyboard. It didn't take incredibly long to adapt, though. The media controls are much more varied than my last keyboard (which only had volume controls) but need you to hold the "Fn" crucial even though pressing the proper F crucial. It would be far more handy to have dedicated media controls, but it isn't a massive difficulty. The gloss finish actually attracts the fingerprints, but that's expected. I don't agree with the style selection to move the F keys more than to the suitable, but because I seldom use those keys, I haven't had a problem with it so far, so I won't call it a con.Be considerate of other people. Seriously, these keys are LOUD. If you haven't employed a mechanical keyboard prior to, you truly don't know how loud these issues are! If anybody spends a lot of time in the room with you, you may possibly drive them nuts.Worth noting, there's a thing detached inside my keyboard. If I pick it up and tilt it, I can hear some thing rolling about. Luckily, almost everything functions just fine, so I didn't really feel a require to send the keyboard back, but it's a small bit unsettling.

RAZER Black Wired BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Cons:-Compatibility issues with older computers-Major input lag with out resolution to problem (after months of trouble shooting)- Small scale, WASD feels cramped - Too loud for me personally, some people enjoy the clack of mechanical keys

Pros:Sturdy build
Comment:
Meh...if you want clean keyboard experience don't bother with this.Cramped layout and many functions which I don't need. When I first purchased the keyboard I plugged it into my older AMD x2 3200+ and a great for it's time Asrock mobo...wouldn't work with the 'older' USB. With my new build it obviously had no issues, until I began to get continued input lag, making FPS gaming impossible and even simple searching a trial. After months of trouble shooting and service tickets I am fed up and just selling it used. Don't bother, go with another company.

Comment:
It has a genuinely excellent feel, a lot much better to the regular keyboards I have employed. Feels like I can kind faster on this keyboard. It is also far more responsive. It is also not too flashy unlike other gaming keyboards. They keys are type of small for my taste, I have bigger hands and I have to adjust to it. The keys themselves are absolutely smaller than your average keyboard at perform/school. As nicely, there is no indent in in between the caplocks and A crucial which is pretty confusing sometimes when playing RTS. Not certain if I am going to return this keyboard or not. The keys (size and layout) surely get taking employed to and I'll see in a couple of weeks. On the other hand, the overall excellent of the keyboard is substantially much better than the ones I have owned before and I feel like I can type much ebtter on it.

Keys do really feel nice and responsive. Seems like it will final forever, but it's a bit soon to tell. The function keys start out wayyyyy too far to the proper. Appear at the pics, the F1 key is fundamentally among the 2 and the 3 numbers, whereas I'm utilized to it generally getting proper over the 1. They are also tinier than standard keys and tough to hit as speedily. This got me killed numerous occasions in games where that key does a thing essential until I got used to it. :)There is also a column of extra keys off to the left of the most important keyboard you can program, sadly they are way too close to the primary keyboard and I preserve mashing them when I want to hit Esc or LShift rather. I'd keep away from this as a gaming keyboard if you're working with the function keys or ~, Tab, Caps, LShift, LCtrl a lot in your gaming, as it takes a lot of adjusting to get utilised to. Just a lousy layout on the left and leading left of the keyboard, which any WASD gamer will probably get frustrated by pretty speedily.

The board has a very good really feel. Coming from a membrane keyboard I seriously enjoyed it. It is tough to go back to a membrane even for a short time after using the blackwidow. The space bar. It utilizes a stabilizer bar that is held in place by two little clips. The important itself did not have adequate "spring" to push the keyboard back up. From time to time I'd have to wait for numerous seconds for my space bar to pop back up. I thought maybe it required oiled so I removed the important cap. Whilst putting the important cap back on I broke 1 of the small white clips. To make this story even far better I have apparently voided my warranty. For removing a crucial cap! weak... Can't come across a replacement clip so I now have a big paper weight.

RAZER Black Wired BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Cons:* Glossy finish* No PS/2

Pros:* Unmatched feel* Heavy, high quality construction
Comment:
This is by far and above the best keyboard I have ever owned. The key switches actually become a little bit smoother after a few hundred strokes on each, there is definitely a break-in period. I will never go back to a rubber membrane keyboard again. My only complaints:* Glossy finish. This thing is impossible to keep clean. I really wish they would have rubberized the keyboard to keep finger prints off of the casing. The key caps themselves are standard plastic keycaps (not like the ultimate, which are rubberized) and they get a little glossy with use as well. * No PS/2. I would prefer to use PS/2 for full rollover, but USB is decent enough in this price range. The USB cable itself is nylon wrapped which is nice. Highly recommended.

Comment:
Soon after employing this keyboard for awhile its difficult to envision what would motivate everyone to devote something over 贄 for a membrane keyboard. Mechanical keyboards are so considerably nicer to game on, and accurate gamers will have deteriorated efficiency by searching at an LCD screen on their keyboard which is going to jack up the cost. This keyboard has actually clicky keys which offer audible feedback although playing games which demand a lot of button mashing. I have come to rather get pleasure from listening to it as I kind as properly. If your a gamer there is a good chance that you wear a headset that surrounds the ears. Personally I own the Razer Carcharias headset and can hardly hear the keyboard whilst gaming. The F1 important is slightly shifted to the proper for causes which the razer corporation has studied with the gamer in mind. This is the greatest adjust I have identified with the layout in addition to smaller important size. I have had no complications with the adjustments to the keyboard layout. Couple of, and minor. The biggest con, which is minor for me, is the paint on the keys. It deteriorates rather quickly compared to other boards which is a great reason to look into upgrading to the ultimate if you're not a very excellent typist.Another con that may be certain to my keyboard is one thing I ran into while playing Super Meat Boy. If you have no Concept what Super Meat Boy is comprehend that it is a game exactly where you JAM on the directional keys. The left directional crucial occasionally stuck in location while playing super meat boy. I dont believe that this is some thing that would happen really generally. This keyboard is in all probability not for any individual whose substantial other sleeps close to them whilst they are typing.

RAZER Black Wired BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Cons:Glossy paint and back-lighting: this is my only pet peeve with this line of keyboard. This particular model DOES have a backlight, except that it only lights up the Razer logo on the front of the keyboard, which I find to be completely unnecessary. Basically, any keyboard that costs $35-$50 more because it has back-lighting and a matte black finish is a waste of my money. Furthermore, I know glossy finishes look flashy, but if they exist in a place on the keyboard where my hands are constantly touching it (i.e. the palm-rests), it just looks messy. My opinion? This keyboard should have been matte black from the beginning, and the "ultimate" backlit edition should have the glossy finish, just to teach those who buy it that spending so much extra money on the same keyboard really isn't worth it in the end.

Pros:Great feel: mechanical keys use MX-Blue switches, which make it very comfortable to type, and satisfying to game.Great aesthetic: Letters on keys are in the always sexy "Razer" font, and the shape of the keyboard make it look lethal next to any form of all-black gaming case.Gaming mode to disable windows key eliminates only potential problem with the layout of the keys.Macros are in a somewhat easy location to reach, but are not obstructive to normal typing.Price: Easily the cheapest mechanical keyboard on the market (or at least, the cheapest one should ever consider buying), which means the value for money ratio on this product is exceptional!
Comment:
Bottom line: I give this version of the Razer Blackwidow 5 stars. It does look awesome, despite the need for constant cleaning, it feels and works great, the build quality, unlike some other Razer products, is actually amazing, the software is decent and unobtrusive, and it is, in fact, one of the best priced mechanical keyboards on the market today. I love this thing!

Nicely created with good finishes. Custom key maping is really handy. been using for routine function and gaming with COD-BO and MoH.seems incredibly duarble. "Shift" charactera are tough to read. It will take some time to "grow fond" of teh loud click made with each keystroke. I keep a normal keyboard plugged in and identified it handy (logitech).

RAZER Black Wired BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Cons:Super Glossy, Placement of the keys

Pros:Price, Blue Mechanical Switches (Clicky Sounds)
Comment:
This mechanical keyboard is probably one of the better ones if you're looking to buy a mechanical keyboard at a lower price. I love the clicky feel to the keyboard. However you might need to get used to the layout, which for me it took about 3 days. There are 5 macro keys which I haven't used yet, and a gaming mode to disable the windows key. The only problem I have is the glossiness of the surface, but a quick wipe down with a micro-fiber cloth every night solves the problem. Overall, this is a very nice keyboard. If you're looking a mechanical keyboard and don't want to spend alot of money, this is the keyboard for you.

Amazing keyboard. Definitely not my initially gaming keyboard, but my very first keyboard with macro keys, and I have to say I wish I had gotten a keyboard with them sooner. The keyboard itself does almost everything Razer said it would. There is a gaming mode key that disables the Windows key, which is super handy, despite the fact that I don't need it right after the 14 years of training myself to steer clear of it. There is also on on-the-fly macro recording that works surprisingly properly.Plus you can't forget about the mechanical Cherry MX Blue keys--which are definitely 100% phenomenal. There is also a lighting button attached to the F12 key that basically lights a blue Razer logo located below the spacebar. This is likely left over from the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate style (which will have back-lighting for each and every key). But whatever the case, it is fairly substantially pointless. There is a clicking noise (what Razer calls "Audible Feedback") whenever you press a key. It in fact practically sounds like you're typing on a typewriter, just not really as loud as one, which will annoy some people. The media keys are attached to the F1-F12 keys, as they would be on a laptop. Doesn't bother me as I invest about 75% of my time in front of my laptop, but I'm certain some folks would prefer them as separate keys in the upper correct corner. For those who have never used a mechanical keyboard before, I would attempt to discover some hands-on experience with one before purchasing. I went from the Razer Arctosa, which utilizes the regular membrane style, to this keyboard and they are worlds apart. The only reason why I felt some comfortable getting this is because I LOVED my parent's old IBM mechanical keyboard from the late 80s.For those who have use a mechanical keyboard before, this is the very best mechanical keyboard I've utilised given that the IBM Model M. Purchase it.

I love the mechanical switches for the positive feel and typing on this keyboard is an absolute joy, especially considering that it's designed for gaming. I wish the lettering were cut instead of subliminated, but that's a different price bracket. Not everyone appreciates a clicky keyboard, so make sure you know what you're getting into.

I'm not the type of person who would spend big amounts of money on laptop or computer items specifically 1 labeled as a gaming item, but this keyboard is wonderful. I'm in college and do drafting so I was seeking for a keyboard that would be comfy to function on for a number of hours. This keyboard genuinely delivers. I love it's weight. It feels incredibly solid and I feel the price is very fair. Compared to the Pleased Hacking Keyboard, Filco Majestouch and a variety of other mechanical keyboards, at this price point, it seems like a steal. It increased my typing rate and I feel like I could in no way get tired from typing. The keyboard is louder than I expected but as I function, it rapidly goes to the background and is not especially annoying. In my opinion, the whir of pc fans is really distracting. If you are taking into consideration this to be your 1st mechanical keyboard I would actually recommend it. Also, Newegg's Rush Processing truly did pay off and I got my Product precisely three days from ordering. Thanks Newegg.

Solid and heavy. Less difficult to type on than all the non-mechanical keyboards I've had, including the Razer Lycosa that I replaced. Goofy lettering. Some of the letters are lower case and some aren't. Gloss black is smudge city. I like the click but it doesn't have to be this loud.

Pros:- A joy to type on- Feels heavy and rigid- Amazing response time- Macro keys
Comment:
I've been hearing about mechanical keyboards for a while now and I've finally decided to purchase one. I decided on the Razer BW mainly because it was one of the cheapest mechanical keyboards out there. It feels so much better to type on than my previous Logitech G15 rubber dome keyboard. The board is also heavy and rigid so it does not slide/move around. However, one of the drawbacks of the keyboard is its glossy finish. It can become quite dirty (smudges, dust, etc) pretty fast. Also, as the key presses can be quite loud, others nearby may be annoyed. Overall, the keyboard is very good for the price.

Comment:
Aside from a couple feature issues (such as NKRO and PS/2 support), this is an excellent and affordable mechanical keyboard for typing an gaming. Mechanical keys have really grown on me. I really enjoy the audible clicks on keypresses. If you're concerned about the noise then the DAS Silent models are worth looking into, but the good construction of the BlackWidow makes the clicking manageable.

Comment:
So yesterday I picked up the Razer Blackwidow which is a fairly reasonably priced mechanical that I picked up for 62 plus tax. The main disadvantages of this board which I have noticed in the several hours I have been using it are:1. Glossy surface; sure it looks pretty and is reminiscent of almost every other Razer product in existence, but it is NOT fingerprint resistant. Can't. stop. wiping. it. every. 5. minutes.2. Font: purely a matter of personal preference. Myself, I can't stand it. It reminds me of one of those really juvenile fonts on Microsoft Word. Not a big deal if you don't look at your keyboard much.3. Cherry Blues: again, personal preference. Having tried both the Browns and the Blacks prior to buying this keyboard, I must say that my personal typing style favours the Blacks, with the Browns being a perfect middle ground alternative. Also, the clicky style of the switch gets annoying fast. Razer markets the Blues as a gaming keyboard; personally, I can't stand gaming with these switches. The actuation force is actually quite light, and double clicking doesn't work too well on the Blues, so I've encountered several games where I am misclicking often or simply unable to execute the commands as I can on Blacks or Browns. For typing, these are a great switch; but again; not for me, as I am NOT a touch typist and I find myself bottoming out my keys frequently. 4. Lack of NKRO and PS/2: quite simply disappointing as I'd expect Razer to have optimized thios 'gaming' keyboard for more than their so-called 'gaming matrix'. That being said, no issues whatsoever with the WASD cluster and function keys, but I have experienced a slight issue in racing games with the lack of NKRO on the arrow keys. That concludes my rant on the several poorly designed features of this board. Now, this keyboard is definitely the cheapest way to get your paws on Cherry Blues in Canada, and for that, I must praise Razer for bringing mechanical keyboards to a much wider audience. Of course, Razer feels inclined to add in their fan-favourite gaming features, including the presence of macro keys (many people seem to like these, but utterly useless to me) and a pretty light up blue Razer logo.Overall, if this is your first venture into mechanical keyboards, I don't think you will be disappointed. However, I'd suggest you read around for some more information on different switch types so that you can consider some of the alternatives to this board available on NCIX, such as the Das Silent (browns), or the Steelseries 6G (blacks).

RAZER Black Wired BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Cons: - Cherry MX Blue keyswitches are loud. (Search YouTube for the acoustics of this keyboard)- Glossy plastic frame. This is a fingerprint and dust magnet.- Paint used for the letters on they keys fade quickly.

Pros: + Very comfortable to type on. + Good amount of tactile feedback+ All black colour scheme. Matches well with most computer setups.+ Heavy. Takes a good amount of force for the keyboard to slide.+ Macro keys on the side can be useful.+ Additional media control keys are present on this keyboard.+ Gaming mode prevents accidental presses of the Windows key and the Context key.
Comment:
This is the first mechanical keyboard that I've ever owned and used. So far I am impressed. The clicks from the key presses are very satisfying. The "bounce" from each key press is much more apparent than those of a membrane (silicone dome) keyboard. After using this keyboard, I don't think I can use a run of the mill membrane keyboard anymore. One small gripe is that the white paint on each of the letters appears to be fading already -- after a week of moderate usage, commonly used letters appear darker than the others. I warn though, this is a very noisy keyboard. I don't recommend it for users that want/require a silent workplace -- if you are looking for a silent mechanical keyboard, I recommend the Steelseries 6Gv2 which has the quieter but less tactile Cherry MX Black keyswitches.
