It performs. The Rosewill-provided drivers are a nightmare to install, the product image is inaccurate. If you're making use of the drivers on the disc or Rosewill's site, fantastic luck installing them. Make sure you install these even though you're connected to the online by going into your hardware manager and updating them there from the net.

Operates, which is the point Other than the box image hookup displaying incorrectly, the instructions didn't function as written. Under Device Mgr (XP/SP3), ports show as plain "PCI Parallel Port" (and serial), not "NetMos" as in guidelines. Attempting to get the latter cost some hours of installs/uninstalls. Rosewill's website does not contain guidelines for XP. These factors are why the four eggs minus.

Not a assessment Not a overview The overview under described employing it in a Dell Dimension E520. This Dell computer system has a PCI Version 2.3 bus that will not even mechanically accept this 5V only card (see its image displaying only ome slot). In this case you really should anticipate a blue screen or worse.

i bought it to work on my Dell and 2000. two brackets coming with each other and one particular is for serial and one is for prar port. uncomplicated setup each of hardware and driver and performs. driver integrated on the disk only get a windows version. although i assume you can get a Linux or Dos one particular from the chipset internet site but this takes far more function. not a problem for windows user like me. be careful of the direction. serial cables can be plugged in either way to the card, but only 1 way works.

Supported my client's black-and-white copier. Smooth installation (it's a PCI card, what else can I say?). None at all! I didn't truly use the serial port dangle mainly because I didn't want it. If you do this, your operating method will probably alert you about an uninstalled device. If so, just disable the two devices and it functions fine. Or, if you want to, just install the serial ports. The only purpose I didn't was due to the fact of space problems.

Meets the want for serial and parallel ports on boards that do not have these legacy capabilities.Below a new build of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit OEM the software program found the new hardware immediately after a "single click" of "Search for New Driver." Win 7 had both the serial and parallel port drivers. I in no way used the installation disk. I want the serial ports would have been on the principal bracket instead of the parallel ports. Minor difficulty.

None....The photo of thecom. cables connectors are notproper on the box photo they are backwards as pictured on the PCI card. I got the RC303 to use with a Dymo serial lable printer. Would not perform at first. Then I back up my Dymo files and removed the program. Reloaded, upon which it showed it was set up for USB not for com port. I pick com port load it located the new Rosewill com port 6ƃ and pick Com port 7 where the dymo was attach and bamthe frig'an thang worked....

when it performs, it's ok though a tiny slow on the printer port Repeatedly drops parallel port (print). This has occurred every time I've taken out the card or unplugged the printer or in-in between, i.e., out of the blue when every little thing seemed to be functioning fine and a job has been sent to the printer. Needs uninstall/reinstall of ports and printer each time, but even then is fickle and sometimes requires numerous tries. Not positive if it's worth the shipping costs, but I've RMA'd it in favor of a parallel to USB converter. The driver names as written in the directions do not match what's observed on screen under Device Mgr following installation. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Buyer,We are sorry for the inconvenience this may well have brought on you. We try to offer the most reputable products to our clients. The problem you are possessing may be triggered by a driver concern. Please attempt installing the drivers from our web page. Quite easy to install. Serial ports function fine. LPT port sets to a non-typical I/O variety.. CAN NOT Change!!! If you want anything like 0x378, THIS WILL NOT Operate FOR YOU!! Do not waste your cash here if you require normal LPT I/O ranges for your applications!!! While numerous say it is not feasible to map the ports in Vista, this is not accurate (although I have not figured out how yet). Tested this card in a VMWare client beneath Vista x64, and the LPT maps just fine to 0x378 in the virtual machine. Why can't Rosewill do this with a driver????????

Hassle-free to set up - Win7 64-bit detected and installed it automagically. Does what it's supposed to do for me ƒ serial ports). Haven't tested the parallel port but I have no cause to suspect something wrong. Want the parallel port was on the secondary bracket as an solution, not the serial ports. But perhaps that's just me. Connectors can be reversed (saw other complaints). Nevertheless pin 1 *is* marked on the board so if you spend attention you'll get it best from the 1st attempt.

Straightforward to set up, does what it is supposed to do. None. No complications with the installation. Plugged the card into the slot, plugged in the printer, fired up the laptop and place in the install disk. It automatically discovered and set up the card, the ports, and the printer. I'm making use of a newer 񢉖) Dell desktop with windows XP house edition. Dell is so cheap now they do not include these ports on their computer systems, but truly most new periferals are USB based. I necessary it for my older printer and my GPS that makes use of a parallel port. This card was a cheaper answer than receiving USB adaptors for both items.

Seems to perform well if you have a 5V PCI bus. Seems to do what you need to have if you have a řV only" capable PCI bus. If your output PCI buss levels are as well low for 5V only designs, the cards won't work. So it doesn't play in the Dell E520's version PCI 2.3 bus.Any recommendations for a PCI two.3 capable board with fantastic Vista drivers?

. . . . . I lately purchased two Lenovo desktops with Vista 64 installed. Like all new computers, there had been no parallel ports - everyone was going USB 2. to cut charges. Sadly, I owned four old HP 2100 Laserjet printers; and they would only accept parallel cables. . . . . . So, I purchased a converter printer cable with a USB 2. connector on 1 finish and a parallel connector on the other. The thing would not function.. . . . . According to my brother-in-law, he had the exact same problem with his latest computer buy as effectively. Like me, the converter route was a total failure. Following trying many options, they all "bombed." His final try was to install a parallel port PCI card, and it worked.. . . . . I went to the Newegg.com internet site to appear at the various selections. The Rosewill RC-303 had the highest ratings, so it was bought.. . . . . Immediately after finding it, I downloaded the newest computer software driver and installed the device. It worked and continued to work ever because. . . . . . Do not take a opportunity with something else. Rosewill works and has the highest satisfaction amongst Newegg.com consumers. . . . . . Rosewill is 1 of the couple of major adapter card makers that has a website and will be about for the subsequent handful of years. It updates its drivers routinely. As a outcome, if I have to update my OS to Windows 7 in the future, there is some assurance that the company will have the required computer software drivers in assistance of their goods. Any other company will call for you to throw away the old and purchase their new.

Installed instantaneously into XP without having a hitch. Operates as it ought to. Priced appropriate....in particular if you only need to have it for one or two small items. None that I have found yet aside from the backwards cable hookup that has been mentioned so a lot of instances here. Takes 30 seconds to fix. In regards to not getting capable to change the address or port numbers of the unit that was talked about earlier by someone....not true...at least in XP. Merely go into the harware manager, click on properties of the port, go to advanced and you can adjust to any accessible port location or range that is not in use. I was in a position to get LPT 1 and Com 1 , Com two inside 2 minutes with no problems at all.

Purports to provide parallel AND serial ports Soon after installing the card and drivers and rebooting my program, I am greeted with a Blue Screen of Death. Downloading drivers from the manufacturer's site and putting in them produces the identical outcome. My technique is a Dell Dimension E520 operating Windows XP SP2 and Novell Netware. Installed fine. Windows 7 32 bit, new HP laptop. Windows 7 located the card but not the drivers. Had the install search the Internet for appropriate drivers. This identified then installed the drivers. Changed to LPT1. The set up was a piece of cake. None. Only interested in the parallel port so did not test the serial ports.
