Great Price but Didn't Work
Comment:
I could not get the driver for Window7 even though my computer recognized the device. The software would not load either, it kept asking for the serial key numbers that were not supplied with it. I just sent it back. Too good to be true.

Must contact the Manufacturer for NEW DRIVERS etc.
Comment:
What a PAIN. I consider myself pretty competent with computers but this device is very challenging to set up. You MUST contact the manufacturer who will send you new drivers and a current, supported version of Ulead. I also discovered that the S-video connection will not work with analog (VHS tapes). If you have patience and computer know-how......well, there is a chance that you will get this to work for you. If you don't have a couple of days to fool with this and are not computer savy, I suggest buying something else.

Its works - Adjust your monitor resolution to high
Comment:
I read the reviews before my purchase. I hesitated but I wanted to try it. It was cheap. It didnt work on my Netbook so I used my 28'' monitor with my netbook and the driver & software were installed with no problems. This device requires a larger screen resolution to operate. Also connect the device after you launch the dvd-maker software. Switching the device between USB Ports also helped my system recognize the hardware. My netbook runs on Windows XP. I was able to digitized my VHS tapes using this device. Plus the software thats included it's great to make and edit your videos like a movie.

is this some sort of scam?
Comment:
this product not only would not work with any VGA device i tried to connect, my computer flat out refused to recognize that the device was plugged in, despite installing all the drivers and software included. looked too good to be true, and it was just that.

Very good product
Comment:
I bought this product one month ago and quite frankly, I succeeded every test I made. I used this product with Vista, Windows 7 and I am able use and old camera, via composite, as a webcam. Yes, the driver was an issue here. I got the appropriate driver on Internet and everything was perfect. For this price, this product was the top in my case. I even succeed to use different video software, once again, via composite connection.

Good price, not so great product, decent support.
Comment:
Ordered it because it was cheap. Saw lots of bad reviews, so expected proplems. Was not disappointed. But the support was helpful. Still having lots of problem with software, but hope to get them worked out eventually, or at least figure out how to work around them.

Not happy
Comment:
NOT what i expected, worked on desktop, not on laptop, driver whacky (XP), after 30 minutes audio drops out while video keeps recording, so up to 30mins works fine, if you have long travel tapes, you have to splice them, i tried the video software that comes with it, but no thanks, i'll use my own, recommend you buy a pci tv card instead, or another usb type, not happy with this.

odd drivers
Comment:
This device is a GREAT idea. I purchased one because my digital video cam is no longer supported and I did not wish to spend megabucks to replace a working device. After following the installation procedures on both a new desktop and recent laptop, the device did not function at all. I returned the device and received another one. After several complex tech phone calls, the device worked with the S-video input on one machine but not the composite, then it worked on the composite video input on the other machine but not the S-video. There is a driver problem, I am sure. It seems to me, this device has been paced onto the market without proper testing and support. The device came with a extension cable which never did work and they refused to replace it. Once the device worked, it produced a nice video file. Fortunately, I have both S-video out and composite out. The editing program that comes with it works so-so, but Pinnacle is far more functional.

Workable product
Comment:
I was looking for something basic to enable converting old VCR tapes to digital. This looked like a good deal despite many bad reviews. I have a Windows 7 PC, so bypassed the supplied drivers on CD and downloaded newer software from their web site. It has worked for the 4 tapes converted so far; just remember to have plenty of disk space (2 hour taped program will require about 160Gb when using highest picture quality and stereo sound) for the captured video.

Did what I needed
Comment:
I had an old VCR to translate into various numeric format, mpeg, DVD, ... It worked great. No issue installing driver on XP. The ULead Videostudio software that came with was a great value that I used on other DVD projects.. Good ROI :).

Not plug n play, but don't give up, it works!
Comment:
I read the reviews before I purchased this and figured that there would be some difficulties involved in the setup process. And there was. As other reviews stated, they give you the wrong driver. Go to sabrnt's page and find the device on their page (under tv tuners) and download the driver from there. When you install the software, it asks for a key code. You have to search through the cd to find it. It's in a text file on there. After several hours I got this all straightened out and it works just fine. It's worth the trouble to get those old home videos on dvd!

I would not recommend it.
Comment:
Works with XP but not with Vista. There are many websites to deal with the problems but did not solve the problem. A paid driver upgrade service did not help me either. With my AMD Sempron 2GHz CPU and 1 GB RAM, the video images are tuned to be B&W only! For $25, it was some experience to install a USB based video capture device, and acquire some knowledge of how to use the VLC media player.

It works well, but with research and effort
Comment:
This really is a good product, but it is not an easy plug and play. I had to research beyond these reviews to get it to work properly. First I followed links to find the newer drivers for XP. Then I found that not all capture programs will work properly with this device. I finally found that there is a capture program with the (large) driver package that saves the video from this device very well...but in uncompressed .AVI format. You need lots of drive space! Look in the drivers folder for StkATVp.exe with a camera icon. I am now capturing decent quality video from my old VHS tapes. After some concern at first, I am now satisfied with this product.

they all suck
Comment:
this doesn't work, now of the ones I've tried do work. tech support is always in chinese, or korean, and after installing the software, it causes system wide problems, and has to be removed tiger direct offers no support. and once you buy it, they laugh all the way to the bank. every year, about tax time, I dare dream and hope one of these things will work, and each year I get screwed. I usually get a cheap one and an expensive one just for giggles. neither has ever worked. especially anything from v-stream. but I haven't had any luck from sabrent either.

Buyer Beware!
Comment:
My suggestion: Do not buy this product! - software does not include license key, so it can't even be installed. - adapter is configured for use in China and you must configure it yourself for use in US. See other product reviews for details. - since the software is useless (and you don't need it anyway) just buy the adapter alone.

How to record VHS to DVD
Comment:
there really isn't anything out there that makes recording your old videos to DVD clear. Here it is folks. You have to go from Video to your computer with this adapter. then you need a program that knows what to do with the information.(i use Roxio creator) it records in real time or 2X. real slow but you have it. once it is on your computer it is digital forever just save it however you want for safety from computer crashes. roxio can then edit or oganize clips or portions of your movie, add menus etc. it is really great. you cannot record directly to a DVD or you run the likelyhood you can only re-play the dvd on the machine you recorded on. Oh, Roxio offers this adapter as well for twice the price.
