I consider this is the third of this model Samsung 1TB drive that I have purchased from the Egg. I have most of the other model Samsung 1TB drives also, nine in all. This one particular came shipped in the plastic clam shell, wrapped in bubble wrap in it's own generic box, in the box. Quiet, rapidly, reliable, and at a good price tag. They had been not all at this price tag. Nearly time to commence getting Samsung 2TB drives.

Absolutely the quickest mechanical drive I've ever utilised. 𞳆MBps in HDD Tune Read test. Almost double my aging Seagate 7200.ten 500 GB. Windows 7 64 now boots more rapidly than my 7200.10 can return from Hibernation. Same machine, just unique tough drive. None actually so far. The only damaging is that the warranty is only 3 years, vs. 5 from other makers. This is the least expensive upgrade you can do if your challenging drive is three yrs or older. I really feel like I got a new machine. It gives new life to aging hardware.

Fantastic drives, bought 4 of this and put them into a RAID ten hardware config. Quite quick, extremely quiet. Windows 7 hasn't had any concerns with the setup, reporting two TBs. Just had a single die almost a year to the day of obtain. Samsung's help web page doesn't have a listing for this model for some explanation so getting help will be an issue. Nonetheless a excellent drive though. Just hoping the other three don't fail on me ahead of I get a replacement.

Super quick, averaging 240MB/s in Raid . They're quiet as effectively. Setup was easy. None. Got two of these for just over 100$, can't beat that. Samsung HDs are reputable. I would propose these over a WD or Seagate any day.

Fast (NCQ appears to make very a difference). Quiet. Low cost. Purchased it as an added storage drive. Newegg did a very good job packaging it, and thus I didn't have to deal with a DOA...yay! No indicators of any of the usual symptoms of a "bad" drive as of yet ...maintaining fingers crossed. No SATA cable or directions, but then once again it IS after all a bare drive, so not actually a substantially of a con. Drive not displaying up in MY Personal computer but is located in Device Manager? Possibly like me this was the 1st time installing brad new (unformatted) drive for added storage. It took me a lil even though to figure out where to go to format ...duh! For Windows XP: Rt click on My Computer - Handle - Storage - Disc Management - come across the new drive and format. In my defence, drives I've applied for this purpose in the past have been previously formatted drives I had laying around and showed up in My Computer w. a letter designation, so I could reformat by rt clicking on the drive symbol itself.

Functions fantastic and is really quickly -- was going to get a SSD but not positive I require 1 now! None so far Other people say it was loud, but I'm deaf so that is not a problem for me :D

Drive is quick, quiet and large. The value is proper and I really like the drive. One particular of the quietest drives I have employed. Client service is good and knowledgeable. It does have an fascinating bug that I mention beneath. Drive will not boot when utilized as a boot drive with windows. I cloned my old boot drive with this new spinpoint drive like I have performed with numerous other drives. When Windows boots it only sees the spinpoint drive as a .2 Gig drive and will not boot. I spent over two hours on the phone with support but they can not figure out the dilemma. They are aware that this concern exists but can'r resolve it. I'm not positive if this similar problem exists if you format the drive and install the OS straight. I would assume that would work. I now use the drive as a data drive and use my smaller drive as my OS drive. Operates wonderful but would have been good to use the spinpoint as the boot and information drive.

Quite fast for HDD's. But don't be fooled that they are as fast as SSD's. My 2 C300 64GB raid setup gets to virtually 700 read and 150 write (AS SSD Benchmark of 908). Can't ask for significantly superior than that. None.

Didn't give me any difficulty setting up. I attempted to set up in raid 1 so I could give my old HDD to a pal, but I messed that up. Installed everything fresh, and no troubles setting up the partitions. None, however I'm generally hunting for a bigger HDD, 1TB fills up so quick in this higher demand planet.

Quickly, cheap and constructed true soild. Weighs heavy. You can hear a click when it starts up but no big deal...other than that it's incredibly quiet. I use this for a 2nd HDD for all my games. It defrags actually fast. I have windows 7 64 bit. In order for the drive to be reconized in windows 7 go to disk managment below administrative tools in the control panel...click on produce and format challenging disk partitions to take you there. Give it a quantity and a name by rapid formatting it to NTFS by correct clicking on the space of the HDD. It's effortless a caveman can do it.

Operates. Wow, the searching for on this drive is so loud. I thought there was a cable that was rubbing against a moving fan in my case. You have to mount this with rubber or your case will turn into a loud speaker for the seeking noise. I have 8 fans in my computer and this thing is way louder than all of them combined. Initial Samsung tough drive and not the last, Performs fantastic and the cost is proper. None All my other folks drives are WD's just wanted to give Samsung a chance and it was cheaper than the WD so why not. So far so good.

I bought this due to the fact of the sale price tag, on the other hand, immediately after installing and using it, I am amazed by its efficiency. It is no louder than the 1TB WD Cavier Black in my other rig, and efficiency is at least as excellent. Greatest ๆ I have ever spent. I wish it had a five yr warr.

Rapid and cheap. I generally purchase Seagates, but due to the amount of failures I have observed lately, I decided to give Samsung a try. Glad I did. A small loud, wouldn't advocate for a HTPC where sound would be a concern. 2x in RAID for two weeks now, no trouble however.

It's a challenging drive with lots of space on it. 32mb cache, 7200rpm's blah blah blah. I was going to get a WD 1.5tb green drive for a few dollars a lot more, but actually don't need it considering that my drives are partitioned and I want at least a 1TB drive for reimaging my key drive and to adjust the partition size as the will need arises. Got this on sale and decided I'd give ole samsung a attempt. They make other top quality stuff on the industry so..........acquiring tired of the sea brand of drives, to quite a few failures. I get 25% failure rate when ordering those so I require to attempt these to see if I cant' get that failure rate down some. WD is fantastic to, but you spend a premium for these caviar blacks, so........ Doesn't make me breakfast, but I didn't see that in the spec's anyway, so I knew that when I purchased it. I took it out of it's packaging and threw in my external esata external docking box and formatted it and installed an image to it and it functions well so far. I generally preserve an image of my drive to swap out incase of failure and I have a WD, seagate, toshiba and now this in the 1TB size. WD black has the edge over the other three, you can tell when going from the black to any of the other 3. These are less expensive and since they are back up media and employed in copying key drive to virtual drive for use on other computers in esata, this performs well for me. With this size media I can shop a couple organization clientele servers on right here to run in virtual mode at property for testing purposes. They'll need to upgrade to win7 at the years end and it will enable me to mess with it for compatabilty purposes. As affordable as mech challenging drives are and the totally free imaging applications out ther, noone and I mean noone ought to be with out a backup image. Mine is a hi-tech paid version, but I have used no cost b4 just fine.
