A lot more power than I would ever need to have. Trustworthy. Has all the cabling to assistance quad SLI and extra powered motherboards. Whilst it's got a ton of integrated cables and comes with some interchangable ones (interchange SATA vs. four-pin MOLEX power cables), it doesn't come with any cables that assistance both, and doesn't really have sufficient to help the quantity of 4-pin MOLEX needs in a massive rig; I have a ton of fans that are daisy chained, (a bunch up front, plus more in the back), a water pump, two MOLEX connectors on the motherboard, plus one particular of the SFF-8087 to four device cables I have calls for four four-pin MOLEX power connectors, so that's 9. This energy provide has much more than sufficient lanes and juice to assistance that, and could even do it with the included cables, so long as I didn't will need the 5 SATA energy hyperlinks that in truth I do need... So, point becoming, it could be far more modular. Just before I owned this PSU I would continually 2nd guess whether or not or not to add new components to my Pc do to added pressure on my former 1000 watt PSU. I do not have that worry anymore. This PSU can handle anything you throw at it. It is expensive but with the cost you are finding peace of thoughts. None. It states this in the PSU directions but DO NOT plug this PSU into an extension cable or a energy strip. My initial Silverstone popped do to utilizing an extension cable but it was replacedwithin a week.

I appreciate that it is modular. According to JonnyGuru it has outstanding voltage regulation and just about no ripple. The sixư for your eight pin hardware like Video cards and such are terrible. They are very tough to maneuver around to get them to fit into your video cards. I own a complete tower case and the 6ƶ pin cords that are supplied for the video cards are really very short. The cord just about didn't attain for my card that is positioned in the bottom PCIe slot. I had to run the cord straight down as there was no room to hide it at all. My 1000 watt Pc P&C is heavier and larger than this unit. That worries me a bit as effectively. The bag that comes with the unit isn't a bag it's more like a pice of canvas with some Velcro on it so you can roll up your further cords. I would have preferred a genuine bag. The 20Ʋ connector is also terrible. Truly do you think a person with a 20 pin motherboard is going to be buying a brand new 1500 watt power provide? Come on Silverstone just make a strong one piece 24 pin plug. I have owned a lot of computer gear in the final 20 years and with all the cons I listed this still is a really good piece of hardware. Hopefully I can buy some longer PCIe cords for my graphics cards so that I can run them nice and neat behind my Motherboard tray and what not.

The modular nature of this unit rocks -- had another 1100W PS in my case which was NOT modular and I now have about 1ǘ as quite a few cables in my case. My prior 1100W PS could not handle my dual 4870x2 plus all my other components; running in CrossFireX at 2560x1600 I would randomly reboot based on the game. Working with this 1500W powersuppy, my power usage has essentially went DOWN for some purpose [based upon the energy load reported by my UPS] Really huge -- make sure you have room. Drop the floppy connector power [or make it an adapter] and have one more sata energy connector

Exceedingly highly effective; obviates the need to look at complicated, space-hogging dual-PSU setups; nonetheless quiet, even at higher loads. No on/off switch; comes with a particular power cord that won't fit into my Zalman ZM-MFC2 fan controller's wattmeter appendage; offers off a lot of electromagnetic radiation. It's been a real joy for me to finally locate a single PSU that will silently power hungry, overclocked rigs with 4 higher-finish GPUs, for Folding@home or Crysis gaming. When I previously ran an EVGA Classified w/three GTX 280s in tri-SLI, 4GHz CPU and an 8800GTX for PhysX, I had to have two PSUs to manage all of that at a quiet noise level. The only other single PSUs I've purchased that could conceivably manage it each failed. The Koolance 1300W liquid-cooled PSU would run it for five minutes before shutting off due to overload, and the EnerMax Galaxy EVO 1250 was as loud as a leafblower. But this Strider handles it perfectly, stably, and silently. Even so, it's annoying flaw is that it lacks a energy switch; you merely have to unplug it a lot even though developing and tweaking. Ultimately, Fudzilla's assessment (http://www.fudzilla.com/content/viewኄ/) pointed out that this unit offers off a excellent deal of electromagnetic radiation - so be certain not to be suitable next to it when it's on.

Lots of connectors, powers almost everything with no a hitch. see other thoughts. I swiftly tested this in one more system just to make certain it was operating. my question is when i want to jump it to get my watercooling loop operating how will that operate because it dosent have a energy on/off switch on back of it? Ought to I just plug and unplug? or hook it to a energy surge protector and turn the surge protector on/off? or will i have to turn the laptop itself on/off?

What's not to like about possessing 1500 wat of energy. I'm organizing on doing a gtx 480 sli and the close to future and wanted to obtaining sufficient juice for it. This factor is big! Not really a terrible issue but make confident your have a computer system case that will fit it. Make sure you have a massive case. I practically didn't have sufficient area for this thing. I wanted to put it at the bottom of the case but with a help of a friend we had been in a position to hook it up at the bottom of the case with some modifications. The case I'm using is cooler master haf 932.

This power provide has fueled my beast of a Computer so far with no issues of any sort -- my Computer has an overclocked core i7 965, 2 GTX 280s, sound blaster, numerous usb devices and SIX full sized fans -- this powers it with no a hiccup. Plus, I'm quite sure I have a rather large buffer for future upgrades. I seriously like that it's completely modular too. Oh, and the box it came in was quite good also. It is a little major. If your current PSU is cramped for space you may well want to make some measurements prior to finding this. Also, there is no on/off switch -- it's not seriously a huge deal, but it would be nice to have a single. Ultimately, it's pretty expensive -- worth it and you get what you spend for, but costing a lot never goes in a pro column if you know what I mean (except for designer clothes -- the worth of which lies solely in their brand not in the utility). Good PSU!

Without having performing detailed load testing, I can only trust what everybody has said about the extreme power delivery capabilities of this unit. Running at relatively low loads 黼W) it's surely quiet and stable. Generally a wonderful PSU. In spite of the fact that the PSU is capable of powering huge numbers of drives and peripherals, this modular unit only appears to have 4 6-pin sockets for generating such energy accessible. It comes with four SATA and four peripheral cables, but you definitely would have to select four of the eight to plug in. Now, there are two of what appear to be Y-adapters of some sort (the documentation is fairly vague, focussing mostly on pin-outs). Sounds relevant, except the Y-adapters don't fit anywhere: they're built for six-pin formats with two square pins (the other people being "domes"); everything else has six-pin format with three square pins. What offers? Don't inform me I'm supposed to just force square pins into dome-shaped sockets.Sent this query to Silverstone Buyer Help 5 days ago, and zero response received so far. Now that is unacceptable, even (and indeed especially) if they believe it's a stupid query. Manufacturer Response:Thank you very substantially for getting a SilverStone. I rarely write critiques on any item that I have bought; nonetheless, I felt it important to inform other people about this PSU. I do appear at the critiques before buying; trust me, this PSU is the very best that I have ever utilized! No probs due to the fact installation. It's powering all of the following w/ area for more! EVGA X58 Classy, three 260 GTXs, 1 physics card, 1 Razer soundcard, a 920 i7, and 12 gigs of OCZ. Plus, a two pump watercooling setup and all of the UV lights and toys!!! Get IT! Now it doesn't have an ON/OFF switch on the back, and it comes w/ a non-standard energy cord....SO DON'T Shed IT! To turn off the unit, you have to, well, pull the plug.

I purchased this PSU due to a preceding upgrade I made. Soon after installing 2 GTX 470's for an SLI setup, the Antec 1000 watt PSU I had was proving to be inadequate. Let me be swift to say however, 1000 watts is a lot if I had not chose to overclock my GPU's. Also, I have an overclocked i7 960 CPU - In the course of complete load activity such as benchmarking; process shutdown would occationally happen. But after installing this wonderful PSU, the dilemma has been resolved. I'm specific that a 1200 watt unit would have been enough, but the overwhelming consensus amongst on-line reviewers was that this PSU is genuinely exceptional! In addition, it provides me far more headroom for the future. None so far. I absolutely advocate this PSU! So far, I have been extremely pleased with it's overall performance. Also, I like the truth that this unit is 100% modular, this of course reduces the quantity of cables to manage.

Now I can lastly create my own FASTRA! 12V Rails peak at 110A Continuous so Excellent for the most strong three-Way SLi box money can purchase working with GTX295s. Also a 4-way SLi of 285's would be doable. *NOT* powerful adequate for an EVGA X58 Classified 4-Way SLI w/ GTX 295s ... 285s will work ... also 13,000kWh would expense 迲 exactly where I reside. Gaming would be a waste of this issue just since humans can't stay awake 24ǝ뢡 ... Also, what's with people giving this issue a 1-star rating simply because the PSU-side of the power cable is unfamiliar? Yes, it takes either 120VAC or 220VAC since it's an Active PFC Power Supply otherwise the were would be a switch! Do a tiny research!

I was organizing on creating a setup that will take A LOT of power... A EVGA classified x58 three way sli with a I7 975 OC to 4+, 12 GB of corsair Dominator GT 1866, 2x EVGA GTX 295 F T W edition plus a single Sparkle GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1GB as a physx card, all of it in a HAF 932. All the fans would be replaced with the Scythe Ultra Kaze. I planned to use a corsair HX1000W everything other than the video cards and a corsair HX850W for the video cards alone... the case can residence a PSU on top rated or on bottom but I'm not positive about each at the very same time. I don't assume this one 1500w can power all of it or it will lead to troubles. But if it can power the whole technique without having a problem it would be considerably far more efficient than 2 PSU's. Considering that the 850W will finish up blocking half the exhaust on prime of the case. I have yet to develop the system because it will expense 5k at least. But I like to program ahead instead of getting to deal with troubles soon after acquiring all the parts. Manufacturer Response:Thank you extremely substantially for your interest in SilverStone. The Strider ST1500 must have no complications powering the technique you are planning to create. EVGA has this power supply as nicely and they have confirmed that it will work with even higher powered system that consists of their X58 Classified four-Way SLI motherboard and four GTX 285 classified cards.

Just Read The Manual And Don't Let Your Non Tech Buddies Assist You Connect The Cables. . . Or Outlets Will Melt! Our Rig Survived Due To A Built In Breaker In The Power Supply (Saved Us ŭG+) But, The Scenario Didn't Bode So Nicely For The Outlet As You Know By Now.

This provide replaces a different Silverstone that was of lesser wattage 龒W). At load (which was 8 copies of burnP6), the prior provide (which was pretty efficient according to JonnyGuru) drew about 535W from the wall but on the exact same system with the similar load, the ST1500 draws about 510W.This could not appear to be substantially distinction but it is essentially fairly surprising. This is since the preceding supply was running at about 535뫪 or 63% of its rated load which is the sweet spot for PSU's. But the ST1500 is operating at a low load of 510񳇌 or about 34% of its full load. So even when running at with a low load exactly where it is at a disadvantage, the ST1500 is very efficient. But the largest surprise is that the method runs at a greater overclocking with ST1500. I am in a position to increase the ram clock speed and diminish the DDR timings from 9-9-9-24 to eight-eight-8-20. With the preceding supply, the memory failed with this setting, but with the ST1500, the memory runs properly with no failures This PSU is physically significant and might not fit into some systems. I am a bit surprised that the bigger provide allowed larger more than clocking. In principle the smaller provide had all the moxie it needed. It could be that the smaller provide had much more ripple on the rails and was much less tolerant of transient loads than the ST1500. Perhaps it is the variation of the load rather than the size of the load that affected the memory test.
