SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:Not all cables are sleeved and modular cables would be handy.
Pros:Quiet, plenty of power. Comment:
Really impressed with this unit, the reviews are all very positive but I am always wary of trying a new brand of anything, let alone PSU. This unit has power to spare while been very quiet. No trouble keeping my E4400 HTPC with three 500GB disks. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:Not all cables are sleeved
Pros:80+ efficiencyBuild quality Comment:
This power supply is a solid unit, Comes with 8pin/4pin adapter for mobo. used this for a 4800+ 65nm build, works like a charm, not a single complaint, other then not all the cables are sleeved, I think all of them but the Molex, and SATA power cables are sleeved. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:price
Pros:not modularsilentmore than enough for anything my pc might turn into Comment:
this is the most money i ever spend on a ps. Bought a 450W sparkle before and while it has a similar design, most cables on this one are nicely sleeved and it's completely quiet. It's not designed for 20pin ATX, for 24pin connector only. Shouldn't be a problem if you have a recent board. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:Only partially pre-sleeved cables.
Pros:Very small and fairly heavy.Powerful and quiet.Supports SLI. Comment:
I bought this PSU to power my 8800GTS and it was perfect for my needs. It provided more then enough power for my system and it was small enough to fit into my cramped case just perfectly. If room is an issue, you can't go wrong with this PSU. |

Cons:None
Pros:Powerful, Quiet, Cool, and cheap Comment:
I bought this PSU to power my workstation machine with FireGL graphics and a Q6600. I am no expert in power supplies, but it seems very good. It runs quite cool and is energy efficient. Would recommend to anyone. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:-Wattage may be abit lacking for those who plan on running brand new SLI GPUs with many other componenets-The non-modular design lends itself with clutter problems for some.
Pros:-Very Solid Construction-Shielded and Long Cables-Minimal Noise-Looks and Performs Great-Good Price Comment:
Overall a very strong powersupply. I have had no problems at all with it, and it looks very asthetically pleasing if you want a solid, jet black power supply. The only concern may be the 500w rating. Tho for most of us, this is fine. Also keep in mind, for 100$ or less, it will likely be better to get this PSU than one of comparable price, though a hight wattage rating.Note: See "SKYMTL's Budget PSU Roundup" (it can be googled easily). |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:Can't unplug excess power cables
Pros:Solid PSU. Long and plenty of connectors. Comment:
For once, a PSU that doesn't have fudged numbers. This power supply can *sustain* the advertised numbers, not just a short peak like so many other PSU makers do.500 Watts can hold SLI 8800s according to SKYMTLs PSU review. This thing has plenty of juice for my "simple" setup of a c2d, single high end video and raid HDsThe only odd thing I noticed is that the actual voltage output as read by the bios for the CPU vcore is .02 volts below what I set it to.That being said, all the voltages are solid and steady at what I set them to. No fluctuations anywhere.I will be buying more of these. |

Cons:none so far
Pros:really smallquietworks wellnicely sleeved cables Comment:
this power supply is great. the 120mm fan keeps things really quiet, the sleeving (only on 24pin, p4, and pcie) is well done and really flexible. the unit is small enough to fit in htpc cases, but the cables are long enough to reach everywhere in my P180. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:24-pin, not 20+4, no 20-pin adapter included eitherOnly partially sleeved
Pros:PowerfulFairly quietTons of cablesEfficient Comment:
This is a fantastic power supply. It's powerful, efficient, has ample connectors (including 2xPCI-E and 6xSATA IRC). It's also fairly quiet, though doesn't quite meet my high silence standards. The only real drawback is you cannot use this with a 20-pin motherboard as it uses a 24-pin connector and the extra 4-pins do not break off.FYI, I used this to power an E6420 at 3.0Ghz, Gigabyte DS3, 2GB RAM, 320GB HD, DVD writer, and an eVGA Geforce 8800GTS 320MB Superclocked. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:none really
Pros:Best PS out there for the money (unless you want over 600w) Comment:
Not much to say here. I bought it, no problems with it, works good, installed easy. I was going to go with the 400w fortron, however after reading the review in the fourms here (if you are looking at buying a new power supply do yourself a favor and visit NCIX's fourm on Power Supplies and read some of the sticky reviews by SkyMTL). I also looked at some other reviewers online. Basically this one and the Fortron Blue Storm 500w come out tops again and again. Anyway the only weakness might be that the cables are too long (CoolerMaster Centurion 5), but really better a bit too long than too short. You can hide the excess in your 5.25 bays. Its nice and heavy and looks nice too, nice black finish. Some of the cables are nice and sleeved in a metallic black and silver weave. Anyway I would highly recommend. Currently I don't have it under a lot of stress. E4300, 1 HD, X1950Pro, Optical drive, thats about it. I plan on loading it up eventually, which is way I went a bit bigger. I have had no problems with it and it also has a nice big fan and is a nice black color. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:No 24-20 pin adapter
Pros:Quiet, heavy, sleeved cables, great price. Comment:
I bought this PSU after hearing my friend's system and I've been very pleased with it. I had a system put together for me with the "NCIX" case (which, btw, is a horrible thing with a glowing green LED NCIX on the front). My computer was horribly loud and I finally isolated it as the generic PSU that came with the case. In the past I've owned a Antec TruePower 420 PSU which I loved (and thought was super quiet), but this really puts that to shame. It's really quiet (which was the priority for me). I've pushed the system but wasn't even able to get the PSU fan to kick on. I'm very very happy with it, and will recommend it to anyone. Especially if it's on sale! I got mine for $84.99. |

Cons:Nothing I have come by so far...
Pros:Very QuietBasic DesignPowerfulGood +12V Ratings Comment:
Before I had bought this PSU I was a modular guy, but after buying it I had learned that it is just as easy to hide the cables as it is to keep them tidy. The Element 500W easily powers my system and you can not hear it at all once it is inside your chassis. Silverstone is an awesome company and they really keep their reputation up with this one, it is very energy efficient and it is recommended by me to who ever is looking for a great energy efficient powersupply for their new system at a great price. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:startup problem with pc with low start up voltage drawcan't use as a fan to take air out of case
Pros:High efficiency of 80 percent pluslow heat generationlow noise Comment:
80 percent plus efficiency across 20 to 100 load means this psu can operate with little heat generation. heat control fan, with low heat the fan usually stay at minial rpm. But due to this, this PSU can't be used as a fan to draw hot air out of case. Also due to the 80 percent efficiency there are problem with pc that have a low startup voltage draw causing the system or psu to not boot up. |

Pros:500 watts of continous power, very quiet, and very stable. Comment:
this power supply is a very good deal right now. Everything is stable voltage wise, no hiccups what so ever. I like this one better than the bfg 600 watt i had before. This one seems way more quiet and I can hear myself think. As an added plus it doesn't smell up my room like the bfg did. |

Cons:Not all cables are sleaved.
Pros:Nice Cable sleaving, Active PFC, Quiet and Energy Efficient Comment:
So far this PSU has performed perfect with no issues. The 12 volt rail did exceed my 3% variance expectations (12.4 volts)but never exceeded 5% so I really can't give it a negative comment. A quality product worth the money just in peace of mind alone. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:N/A
Pros:Powerful. Many connectors. Nice color. Comment:
This is one of the best PSUs I have ever used. Its black polished color and 120mm fan makes it visually appealing on any dark PC case. It has a variability of connectors that supports SATA and PCIE. It also includes mobo connector converter to make it suitable for any type of mobo. As a 500W, I am running GeForce 8800 with it and absolutely no problems. |

SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500W Power Supply
Cons:First Unit RMA'd, wouldn't power-up at times. Second unit now installed and running strong!
Pros:Quiet, Price, Dual PCI-E Connectors, 80+ Efficiency, Long Cables. Comment:
Cable length issues solved! 3 SATA Power connectors on one run excellent (6 total wow). Ability to connect 2 PCI-E cards with 36Amps (38 peak). Running an overclocked Opteron with an X1950 ATI card. I'll leave the rating at 5 stars even with the first unit having to be RMA'd, this PSU works and works very well. This review was modfied by poster @ 01-31-07 09:06 AM |

VPN: ST50EF-PLUS
Bought to replace the hot, underpowered PSU in my P4 641 system, and wanted some extra headroom for future upgrades. This PSU is rock solid and very quiet, would buy it again in a heart beat.
