None what so ever!! Total Piece of *&%*! Won't perform on Dell Dimension 3000. Tried every thing from flashing the program bios, to downloading the newest drivers to attempting to flash the card bios. Silicon Image flash won't even see the card to let the bios flash. Windows setup BSOD when trying to come across the really hard drive. I even tried strapping the drive to force 1.5 Gb operation. I've wasted four days on this NIGHTMARE so its time to RMA this point and get anything that performs. Shame there isn't a rating reduced than 1 star. I'd price this item as 1ǚ star at most. Manufacturer Response:Dear Client, Thank you for purchasing our solutions. We apologize for any inconvenience. You need to flash the BIOS on this card with a DOS bootdisk. SYBA SD-SATA150R PCI SATA Controller Card

Inexpensive; works just and cleanly in newer systems. Entirely fails in most PIII-based and older P4 systems. In newer Windows XP and Linux systems ƒ.six kernel) with P4 boards, I have utilised several of these cards with no issues. I have not totally tested speed, but I normally run application RAID configurations and have in no way had failures or challenges in these systems.*BUT* don't strategy on placing this in an older P4 board or a PIII board. This card will freeze on boot, or cause IRQ faults, and possibly not function at all, as it has done this in *EVERY* PIII method, older P4 system, and even each PII method I have tried it in, regardless of drive size, and so on. No BIOS alternative, no flash upgrade, and no switching of slots will make this card perform.I have tried to set up a number of SATA-primarily based Linux file servers on older hardware with this card, and I always attempt to pop a single in, fingers crossed, to "save cash" and essentially make some use of the three extras I have of this card that I can\'t get rid of.Don't buy this card unless you have a spankin' new P4 board and either XP or a two.6 Linux kernel.

Effectively, i am a man of handful of words, but this product is good for the cost! For the 1-two sata drives, this item can not be beat! Installation was a friggin breeze! It took me a grand total of 5 minutes to get this up and operating. If you need far more than two RAID drive capabilities, you might want to think about a superior card. Nothing at all else so far! None, but this price cannot be beat!

Immediately after reading other reviews just before getting this, I was afraid with all the stories of data corruption and failures. I got this for an old workstation I turned into a file server. I plugged a 750GB Seagate into the card, booted up the server and it worked. Others couldn't get it to function with big HDD's or devoid of a bios flash, but I've had no difficulties what so ever with this. Zero configuration with good speeds amongst computer systems in the network (ㅛmb/s) indicates a strong fiveǛ. Nothing truly, but I wouldn't acquire this if I was preparing on setting up a RAID, due to the fact it's only softRAID and only supports and 1. Incredibly fantastic deal contemplating I'm only looking for sata support. I was going to devote 贄 plus, but I'm glad I didn't.

Cheap, functions as expectedCame with a SATA cable! Yay! The instructions could be a bit far more verbose, but they do the job quite properly. See my other thoughts... I got the 320GB Seagate SATA drive right here, and I necessary a SATA controller to use it. I wanted to set up Ubuntu six.06 LTS (dapper) initially, so I booted up the install CD. It never detected the drive. Right after a lot more screwing around, I figured out that all I had to do was enter this card's BIOS and do a "low level format" of the drive. Tada! Ubuntu recognizes the drive, and operates fine without having any drivers supplied by me.WinXP install is much less nice: you truly have to comply with the directions for that, which mostly includes making a floppy with drivers to use. Nevertheless, XP worked fine right after that with no additional driver installs necessary.I have not applied the RAID functionality, but it is good to have.

I purchased this card to add SATA capabilities to an older server operating Windows 2003 Standard. Considering that it was not going to help a boot drive, I just installed the card and the new 500GB SATA drive and booted up the server.Windows went by means of the Discovered New Hardware wizard, downloaded the driver from Microsoft Update's website and installed with no problem.I am operating a single drive, so I did not install any other drivers or configuration computer software. The card performs fine. Speed tests showed the overall performance to be what I expected. Could not be happier with the outcome. None that I have encountered. I know the work expected to boot from controllers like this devoid of native O/S support, but not needing it for that purpose, I was up and operating in 30 minutes, from the time I shut down the server, to when I was formatting the drive in Disk Management. Really hard to beat that.

Hooked up and installed fine rather painlessly. I had a WD Caviar SE 320gb operating off of it for two years with out concerns from the drive. I don't see how this could possibly be related, but with the card installed, my pc had problems running certain programs (and games?!). I suppose the concern could be rooted in the fact that it was utilised on a non sata equipped mobo, but I thought it was fairly a buggy concern to impact programs that weren't even on the drive that it was connecting. Much more so, through multiple builds and rigs the difficulty persisted. I do maintain that I in all probability got a lemon since that is all just as well bizarre. I had purchased this card almost three years ago just to get a SATA drive functioning on my old Socket A technique. And I had carried it via multiple socket A technique's until I had a 754 system with actual SATA support to relieve me of the suffering. I suppose it worked for what it advertised then, but I felt like sharing some experiences with it just simply because I 'm shocked newegg nonetheless carries them. I suppose its pricepoint is what keeps it going. I'm sure mine nonetheless works to this day, and I confirm it had worked through two years of actual use, so if you have no issues with it, rest assured, you'll get pleasure from it for a lengthy time operating.

Dirt low-cost...that's all. These cards are terrible. I purchased two of these to run three hard drives in a computer software raid configuration. To even get my computer to boot I had to switch the positions of these cards a dozen occasions until all of the IRQ conflicts had been resolved. Commonly the program would hang soon after a cold boot during the POST stage where these cards are going by means of their bios startup and give you a possibility to configure the built-in raid. A single of the cards would generally hang (no pattern as to which), and only each would operate right after a warm boot. After lastly acquiring up and operating, I experienced consistent data corruption on the difficult drives, and frequent method lockups. Almost everything would work fine, but as soon as any heavy information transfer began the system would start out failing. Programs would crash just from reading off the disks.I tried to update the BIOS using the most current Silicon Image firmware update Ɣ.2.76) considering it would fix my troubles possibly... Alternatively, each cards have been totally You get what you pay for...

It operates fine as a controller ...PCI kills your bandwidth (not the cards fault) with this card bandwidth is ok for me mainly because i only use it for a dvd-rw and a 40gig hd (bc only four sata ports on my mobo), but raid on this card will only give you redundancy, dont anticipate a study/write increase (depending on the kind of raid) due to the fact pci32 can only realistically transfer about 105MB/s, but if you want the further performance you get from raid go with PCI-E, still worth five eggs

It performs as expected for a basic SATA. None that I can uncover. I plugged this into a 2004 vintage Gigabyte MB with XP, attached an Asus DVD burner, and its been 100% trusted for six months now. I have not attempted the RAID function, so I can't comment on that aspect.

Comment:
I purchased this card simply because of its "optional" RAID functionality, thinking someday that may possibly come in handy, but for now I'm not working with RAID. The card worked excellent on my pre-SATA mobo with the WD2500KS SATA drive I purchased with the card. Didn't conflict with anything. I added the new drive as added storage (D:), not wanting to boot from it. However... (see Other Thoughts) User manual and driver CD didn't assist with the issue I encountered. Manufacturer/website help dismal.(see Other Thoughts) The issue I encountered appropriate off the bat was that WinXP would hang (never reached screen with scrolling progress bar) if the SATA drive was plugged into the controller!! I could plug the drive in immediately after boot up and every thing would work fine! WD and Syba internet sites didn't help at all in figuring this out. The repair ended up becoming discovering a v4.3.70 BIOS version on the chipset manufacturer's internet site (Silicon Image). After that, I loaded the 3512 SATALink driver and every little thing worked fine. If you're not using the RAID "option", you might effectively require to flash the present 4.three.73 BIOS on the card back to four.3.70 (not included on the Driver CD) to allow WinXP to boot even though the SATA drive is plugged into this card. When this is carried out correctly (I employed WinXP Flash BIOS tab on the Properties screen even though connected to SATA drive), the message this card generates throughout boot up displays "SATALink" as an alternative of "SATARAID". Install the 3512 SATALink driver from the CD and you'll be great to go! Fantastic luck!

Low price. Effortless installation (see other thoughts) and setup. Came with only 1 SATA cable. No molex-to-SATA power cable incorporated. (Hey what do you anticipate for a RAID card at this price?) This two port SATA-RAID card does what it supposed to do. It is a fanatastic deal for those that want a couple of SATA ports. Installation / Setup was a breeze due to the fact I was adding 2 mirrored drives to a program and not installing a fresh copy of Windows XP.If installing a fresh copy of Windows, I can see where it may be a minor inconvenience. You need to have to copy the drivers from the CD (or website) to a floppy disk initial. Other than that, the card's BIOS is incredibly intuitive.Haven't tried replacing / rebuilding a failed drive so I can't comment on that (hope I under no circumstances have to).

Works fantastic in Linux so far. Incredibly very good transfer speed. RAID is run in software, which is anticipated for a card in this cost variety. Software RAID can take up a lot of CPU time on an older processor. Making use of this in a 1GHz Pentium 3 server (The P3 offers greater power consumption than a newer processor for a 24ǝ house server). Striping two 750GB drives with Linux LVM. For this processor, if I did it again, I wouldn't use LVM striping, as it utilizes the entire 1GHz CPU and runs slower than JBOD.

Comes with two internal SATA ports instead of one particular on the inside and a single on the outdoors. Exactly where must I start... Half the time it wouldn't show a device connected to the card, and when I had my secondary tough drive which had all my games installed there, on load-up 90% of the time the program locked up. Also the very same occurred when attempting to set up XP onto mentioned drive. I didn't work suitable out of the box. Never ever bothered to RMA it simply because the price tag at the time was much less then the shipping cost pretty substantially. Most likely just got a defective card.

Great for adding two optical burners, works with bluray and DVD burners.* Inexpensive* Operates WITH WIDE ARRAY OF CHIPSETS AND MOTHERBOARDS* SATA 150 IS A lot Quickly FOR DVD and BLURAY BURNERS* YOU CAN BOOT AND Install WINDOWS AND ALL BOOTABLE OPTICAL MEDIA FROM THIS CONTROLLER FOR OS INSTALLATIONS Not true RAID. If you are shy two SATA ports for your optical drives, this performs perfectly. I've been making use of these for over 5 years in both Intel and AMD motherboards. If your motherboard won't recognize this SATA150R, relocate it to a different PCI slot and reboot till it does.

Simple to set up with F6 and was able to use a SATA drive of 500 GB with a slightly older system. Works incredibly nicely and is quicker then the IDE in the system. Does not do SATA2 but thats a limit of the PCI slot not the card. Its tiny! Is worth its weight in Gold. I told my buddy he necessary an IDE drive but he came residence with an SATA drive. Whats a tech wizard to do? Acquire more toys from NewEgg of course!
