Sabrent 6-Foot USB 2.0 to Serial DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Cable
Comment:
Nice seeking. This cable is not compatible with an Innovative LM-1 Wideband Oxygen sensor. The sensor operates fine with the serial on my desktop but not with this cable on my laptop. This is making use of sensor firmware 1.42 and LM Programmer three.19. I do not have any other serial devices to see if the cable is truly bad or my experience is just an incompatibility.

It performs. Drivers are fantastic. The cable is long enough to attain network devices with ease. The price is fantastic. What occurred to every little thing becoming absolutely free shipping from Newegg? I bought it to go with my Acer Aspire A single netbook for consoling into routers, switches, etc. Some of my co-workers purchased some other brands of cables for around this similar price that do not work with their notebooks.

Tried to use this from Windows 2003 server in VMware to access a serial based UPS. Didn't perform. Figure the issue was with VMware and usb emulation. Kinda figured it wouldn't function, but I required to try.

Install was uncomplicated with XP Specialist SP2... just plug the factor into your USB port with the driver CD in your laptop, then let New Hardware Wizard automatically find the driver. This product installed as COM5 and is obtaining no problems transferring information at 9600 baud. none so far. I bought this to add a serial port to an HP laptop I am employing with a Programmable Logic Controller that connects to a Pc by way of a serial cable. Works like a charm.

It performs with no any Installation in Vista. Nicely at least with my HP it does. The serial end does not have the standard configuration for a male finish on a cable. It has two tiny nuts for screwing with each other cables. The dilemma is you can't remove them without having tearing up your cable or using a cutting tool. Which signifies that when you attempt to console into a router with a serial console it wont work with no removing these nuts on the router.

I 1st went to the Sabrent net website and downloaded the new driver for Windows 7. I hooked up the cable, and windows located the driver. The Garmin Mapsoure system recognized the cable on com port 3. It worked excellent. None

Useful device, because numerous motherboards no longer include a serial port. Occasionally causes my USB mouse to loose button clicks. I don't know if it's a hardware issue, driver problem, or just an inherent limitation of the design. It's a Prolific PL-2303 chipset. Most recent drivers can be located right here: http://www.prolific.com.tw/Eng/downloads.asp?ID៳

Came fast, thank you newegg. Employing to connect to a Dialogic Gateway. There would usually be to screws on every single side of the plug. Instead there is threads to be threaded into. Nicely there is also threads on the gateway. Any serial cable I have ever observed often has the screws on the cable. Long story short I had to eliminate these tiny thread components in order to use the cable and attach it to the gateway. It kind of bent the faceplate but was easily mended back to place. check to see very first if you connecting device has thread holes or screws to attach the cable.

Package was simple to open Intermittant connectivity/communication timeouts when transfering information. Soon after manually adjusting the communication settings of the com port to match my certain application... this unit could start off the data transfer but could in no way complete the complete transfer devoid of timing out. This was attempted on an XP pro machine. Shame on me for not reading the neg evaluations. I found a device that operates CABLES Limitless USB-2920 USB two. to Serial DB9 Adapter, ordered via NewEgg

May possibly work with other OSes; low cost. This item's USB Driver causes a BSOD d1 exception randomly when applied with Windows 7ኜ bit. Module in question is ser2pl64.sys. It will also result in the application to hang intermittently. Process manager can\'t terminate the activity, forcing you to do a reboot to clear the difficulty..

Works wonderful out-of-box with 32-bit Vista, no driver install necessary - seems to do job fine, talks to my old Garmin eTrex GPS with no difficulties. No driver is available for 64-bit Vista - Sabrent has a driver for XP-64 but it is unsigned and will not function with Vista-64 - the chipset (Prolific PL-2303) manufacturer does not supply Vista drivers
