MEH!!!!!
Comment:
this product needs a bit of help... i installed it on a 733 mhz pentium 3 machine with an ASUS motherboard so as to get aroun d the drive size limitations on the bios ---turns out i didnt have to AND that when i powered on the machine the Sabrent Card's onboard Bios messed with my OWN motherboards BIOS to make it report an incorrect PCI Bus speed to the MAIN BIOS which caused the POST to hang this was a permanent error and forced me to take other measures which included not using the Sabrent card

Worked perfectly
Comment:
Worked as advertised. I needed it to get over a 137gb barrier on a system that I was installing a 500gb HDD on because we were going to use it for a DVR. No complaints... Would definitely purchase this card again.

Well I needed this item for a customers custom built machine. So I could use her old IDE Hard drives in the computer. Worked perfect even with windows 7.

Purchased twice, worked twice
Comment:
I've purchase two of these units at different times. The first one was used in two different machines, once to drive a single two disk RAID 1 array and then moved to another machine to drive two seperate RAID 1 arrays of two drives each. Worked like a charm. Then I recently bought another one to simply add IDE channels to a server, configured as JBOD and worked perfectly. No problems setting up either unit. For $30 it does everything I expected of it.

Doesn't Live Up To Expectations
Comment:
I thought this card was an answer to a problem. All it did was create more problems. Bought the card, used it for a week. It crashed the computer. Removed the card, the computer booted. I had to buy another card to return the defective one, so I could get a refund on the first card. Got the 2nd card, it worked for a week, it crashed the computer. I called Sabrent's tech support. They were very unsympathetic, not knowledgeable and the guy kept putting me on hold. They performed like their card performed. Sucky. So, I reconfigured ribbon cables and what not and eliminated the card. By now the customer had thrown the box away so I can't even return the second crappy board for a refund, so. I ate the expense. That little $20 board cost me over $100 in expenses of running back and forth to the customers home (80 miles round trip) and I did not earn anything on the repair. I would not recommend this product and I'm out here doing repairs for a living.

Works
Comment:
It works as advertised. I have Win7-ULTx64 on my Asus Mobo and it works just fine. Got the drivers off the website (no disk) and it was recognized instantly. The BIOS load screen shows all 4 drives just fine. The 80-wire ribbon cables are fairly good quality as well. But only 1 2-device cable was included in the box on my order even though the card holds 2 2-device cables. Not sure if that was a packing error or not as the card & cable were not in retail packaging. Over all impression is that the card works fin & is a good value for the money spent. Though I have only had it for a month or so. -Fu

Works First Time, Every Time
Comment:
Just ordered this to add some additional IDE channels as I had a couple of old IDE drives floating around I wanted to use. It worked great. I opened the case, popped the card in, hooked up the drives, loaded the driver, and Awayyy We Go!. Hint, don't use to connect CD-ROM drive 'cause you can't read the driver mini-CD that way!. I do have to agree with one reviewer that the cables included are a little on the short side. Be safe and order a longer IDE cable at the same time. I got one of the round ones and it worked really well.

Quality legacy
Comment:
I used the card to RAID a stack of old 80GB Hdds from various manufacturers, and use it with the free open source file server software. I have had no issues at all. Definitely worth the price.

Will not work?
Comment:
I've tried several different ways to get this card to work. Raid screen loading not a problem but Windows XP doesn't see or load any IDE drivers for CD Rom drive? Driver's must have hidden file attributes or missing, all you can view on driver disk included is text. This is more of a problem when you only have one IDE port on your motherboard: 1 for hard disk & the other for the CD Rom. Therefore, the CD Rom never gets seen if you have it connected to this new IDE card. This card is useless to me!

Excellent value for a cheap card
Comment:
Drivers installed easily. The hardest part was getting the bios RAID utility screen to pop up. Pressing delete button immediately during bootup seemed to help get the RAID utility screen to pop up. Or changing the card position in different PCI slots may have helped. It worked some how. The manual was decent for the install and the web assisted as well. I have RAID 1 set up with 2 disks and a spare harddrive in case one fails. Not bad for a cheap card.

Garbage?
Comment:
I upgraded my system with new motherboard but still had a couple of IDE hard drives so I bought this thing to continue running them along with my SATA drive & to this day I have yet to get it working! The driver disc doesn't even load & on the box it says it only works with XP, I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. But I haven't contacted Sabrent yet, but I'll have to agree with another review it doesn't look like the pic, pin connecters are inverted & like I said so far it doesn't work!!!!!!!!!

Photo Confusion
Comment:
One problem with this order was that the product received DID NOT MATCH THE PHOTO on your website. The websit photo showed the connectors upright on top of the board! The actual product received had connectors that were 90 degrees to the board which dictated that the board had to be used in the PCI connector at the BOTTOM of the board in order to have room to attach the ribbon cables. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PRODUCTS SHIPPED AND PHOTOS ON YOUR WEBSITE MATCH. Another problem surfaced as I tried to find the correct drivers to add to my system to enable the board to function properly. Sabrent was contacted as well as the board's chip maker to try to resolve this problem. Overall this was a very frustrating experience.

Sent it back - confused my bios
Comment:
I sent it back, the bios on my motherboard couldn't handle it and once I installed it, I couldn't boot from my SATA DVD drive. I could boot from a IDE optical drive attached to this controller if the media was bootable, but if the bios priority had it first and there was no bootable media in the IDE optical drive, the system would hang and not go on to the Hard drive. I finally gave up. Don't know whether it was the fault of this controller or the bios but they sure didn't like each other.

Don't Buy
Comment:
The instructions sucks, the drivers are limited in their compatibility, the thing slows down boot time horribly, and it recognizes devices randomly when it wants to. I was buying this card to avoid purchasing some new sata devices. I through in the towel and bought the sata drives after this card debacle.

The product is good half the time
Comment:
I have bought 4 up to this point and only 2 worked and were recognized by XP 64, Windows 2000 and 98B. Although 98B had installation issued but once that was fixed it worked fine. So you have a 50 - 50 chance of getting a lemon. My recommendation is buying 2 just to be safe it is after all very cheap. PS Not as pictured. And the instructions suck. But Tiger's is as good as their word when it comes to exchanges.

Great Card
Comment:
This card was purchased to replace a hard drive controller on the mother board. Not a problem in setting up or running the computer the orginal onboard controller just kept getting different errors and now the computer works great again cheaper than buying a new computer.

It Works!
Comment:
I have a gigabyte motherboard with olnly 1 IDE port which I use for the CD and DVD drives. I had a number of IDE hard drives so the solution for me was to add the ports. It worked great. One item though the ribons that come with the card are worthless. They were short and not well spaced. I recommend buying new cables.

Comment:
I purchased this card to add a second IDE channel to a computer. The 3.8 rating made me a bit leary of the card but on installation, Windows XP picked up the new hardware and asked for the mini CD and installed the driver perfectly. I couldn't have been more pleased
