Low Height is good for a HTPC develop. Can be noisy at 100% fan speed. (see beneath) Employed this in a Moneual 320 HTPC case and it fit effectively, but did use up every single final bit of space. The fan can variety from silent (at about 40-50%) to noisy (at 80- 100%). I utilized a fan speed program to keep it quiet for most of the temp range. Even with the fan running at slow speeds it has no issue maintaining my Core i3 HTPC nice and cool (just about 10 degrees above space temprature).

I thought I had it measured out nicely, but not as nicely as I had thought. But this is in all probability the very best cooler I could count on to fit in my case.

I appreciate it. I replaced a Thermaltake stock sort answer with the Shuriken. It's quiet, has a very good variable fan, and probably least importantly, it appears amazing. I'm working with this with an Asus M4A785TD-M EVO uATX Motherboard. The Shuriken fits perfectly, its low profile, and does an exceptional job cooling. The surface that mates with the CPU is polished to an exceptional shine. I'm employing it with a cool operating 3 core AMD Phenom II BE and doesn't get above 40c. I type wish I had bought the 120mm Major Shruiken. It appears like its the very same profile, and would just clear the ram and heatsinks. This could provide a tiny greater cooling for mentioned parts about the CPU. I didn't assume it would fit. I picked this up when it came with a totally free 120mm Scythe 1200 rpm fan. I'm utilizing the Shuriken, the 120mm case fan, and an added Scythe 80mm @ 1000rpm. My head is suitable subsequent to the case and I can barely tell that its on. And thats with the case open. With the side on, its practically silent. If it was a slightly much more pricey (higher good quality than a fifty dollar case) case it would be practically silent.

-cools my Core 2 Duo E7400 far better than the stock cooler; I've yet to see it spin up to 40%, even following gaming for a couple of hours (have yet to see my CPU temp get above 35 degrees C even with the fan spinning slowly).-considerably, a lot quieter than Intel's stock cooler; fan spins at least 400 rpm's slower at all loads-sound character is far more even and reduce pitched than Intel's stock cooler-there is almost no audible difference among the fan spinning at 20% and the fan spinning at 50% and it's not appreciably louder beyond that -I hate Intel's plastic push-pin mounts for LGA775 processors; not Scythe's fault, but be cautious mounting this point Was attempting to decided involving the Shuriken and the Massive Shuriken. I ultimately went with this version as it's a bit lighter and supposed to be less complicated to install. I don't have extremely major fingers, and I nevertheless had a difficult time pushing in the push-pins for this factor—I've study there's even less clearance in between the mounting brackets and heat sink for the Big Shuriken. Anyway, good cooler. All but silent in my mini-p180 Antec case. The 120mm and 250mm fans, both on low, drown out this cooler till it's spinning ᡪ% (and these fans are very quiet). Most likely overkill for my Core two Duo processor, but that just suggests I can start off over-clocking the issue comfortably.

Functions great with Biostar board. True quiet yet my cpu (using quiet in BIOS) does not even get hot. The style performs properly with Biostar layout. It cools the cpu, the memory and the difficult drive (see other thoughts for recipe). The clips are ingenious. They make installing the cooler so easy. Just hook the motherboard and use the cam operated clips. Want every person engineered their mounting systems as effectively. It even comes with it personal themal grease. At this price tag point it is very good item at an even much better cost. It is low profile and fits simply in my Antec Minute slim case rather substantial if you are not familar with aftermarket heatsinks, but this is not a complaint . . . just an observation. Fantastic for moderate OCing but of course your mileage might vary (on your cpu). See other thoughts for recipe and other things reviewed. None that I can think of . . .. Cools properly with ten percent over-clocking. If you want much more cooling . . . then you may get the bigger brother (it is 120mm). Quiet (can not hear fan from more then two feet away even then it is quite quiet) seems like a solid develop No copper base, no other power adapters. This fan comes with a 4-Pin connector and no adapters. Of the two computers I installed in, 1 would not detect the cpu fan. I had to dig about in my bin of adapters to get a four to 3 adapter I got from a zalman cpu fan kit to make it function.

The Shuriken is a very quiet CPU cooler, the quietest I've employed. In-box mounting equipment is great, even moreso with the Rev.B version. No issues at all keeping an HTPC-based Phenom x4 9350e rediculously close to area temperature given the just about non-existant noise level. Phenominal for bedrooms or environments that dicate as close to "zero noise" as you can get. All other "silent" coolers I've attempted lie. This one tells the truth! The offered fan could not spin up for you at all if your motherboard is in the adveritised PWM mode. I've mistakenly returned a single of these thinking it was defective, as a matter of reality. The moment the CPU warms up enough to send enough voltage to this fan, it WILL operate, although. With a Gigabyte 780G motherboard, I eventually had to disable CPU fan failure warnings for this cooler, considering that it won't spin at all proper away. I would advocate leaving any auto-temp-shutdowns enabled just in case the device in fact fails, but otherwise don't expect it to perform on a cold boot. Also, this cooler is not enough to substantially reduce a CPU temp, it's a lot far better at sustaining a temp. For illustration, if you get your CPU nice and hot from gaming, this cooler will not be able to bring it back down to an idle-level temp, but will instead maintain the CPU at a reasonable load temp. I would not advocate for gaming systems at all. Rev.B *only* adds an extra Intel mounting kit, otherwise this is identical to the Rev.A. Had a Rev.A that came with the fan upside-down, so assembly top quality may possibly be somewhat questionable. Overall, I give this cooler a 4Ǜ -- it's not great, but it may be as close as we can get for now if you genuinely don't want to be able to hear your Pc!

Not also tall, fits perfectly on my Thermaltake Lanbox Lite. Fairly quiet and appears to cool a Q6600 at stock speeds adequately. Wish the intel 775 mounting mechnism didn't use the push pin stuff (habit of slightly bending the board). It would have been nice if it utilised a mobo backplate and spring/w screws mechanism as an alternative.

Installs in seconds. With AM2, press integrated clips onto each side of HS. Accomplished assembling. Apply AS to CPU. Place HSF more than CPU working with current stock AM2 mount plate. Flip clip levers and locked. Accomplished. You don't even require to take away motherboard! Zalman great study a lot by checking out this mounting system. I am now another convert from Zalman to Scythe for CPU cooling.Silent and cool operating. Fits wonderful in tight mATX case. None. Applied as portion of a gaming HTPC connected to a HOT 50" plasma in a HOT Florida property. Corner exactly where Pc resides has ambient temps about 85F. HSF keeps CPU at least 5C cooler than method. Technique idle 47C, CPU idle 42C. Significantly cooler and quieter than stock BE2300 HSF. Cranked up the CPU to 315x9.5, or 3GHz, and Prime95 for hours, with CPU temp in no way going higher than 55C. All in a tight mATX situation. Other parts include HD 4830 with ZALMAN VNF100 fanless heatsink, 120mm situation intake fan, and 120mm PS fan at low.

Really quiet fan. Gave it three stars but read on Not greater than stock cooling for an AMD x4 955 in my case. I'm making use of this in an Siverstone SG-02 case and its worse than the stock fan that came with the CPU. Its mainly the circumstances fault but if its an aftermarket cooler it really should cool better proper? I reversed the fans on each but ahead of I reversed the fan on my stock heatsink i was acquiring the same temp that I am obtaining now with this fan reversed although my reversed stock fan was averaging 32C idle and 45C this factor is hitting 51C idle and 67C load. I know the case is seriously at fault but I was expecting an improvment right here. I just waisted 32bucks.
