Slow Drives, Actually
Cons: These are pretty slow drives. They are the slowest devices in my system and the biggest bottleneck. I regret buying a pair of these and would not buy these again, nor recommend them to anyone. These rate at 5.8 on the Win 7 performance test. Everything else in my system is 7 or higher...easy to see what's holding it back the most.
Pros: Lots of space and they haven't died on me yet. That's about all I can say about them that's good, though. |

I wouldn't...
Cons: These drives are not fast. They are slower than average, (less than 50MB/s in pcpitstop, bottom 30% tested) my 500Gb caviar green 5400RPM drive rates higher than this. My laptop scorpio black 320 rates higher than this drive( the scorpio is rated at a 5.9 in Win7, one of the fastest conmponents) , even though my desktop is a beast with a X4 940 @3.4 Ghz and 4 gigs ram. On my gaming rig, this drive is the lowest rated component and I have regretted the decision to buy this drive ever since. These drives are notorious now for early failure, the 7200.11 drives are "steer clear" devices for most tech savvy folks.Unfortunately, I don't have the money to buy new hard drives whenever I please. But I sure don't feel safe about my data.
Pros: Price. 16Mb cache. That's about it. Comment:
This drive makes no sense at all when you consider the 500Gb samsung F3 drives are better in just about every conceivable way. They are a few dollars more, but well worth it, in fact they are even worth waiting for the3 egg to get them back in stock! In about a week I'm going to purchase a samsung for data and a ssd for boot. that's the configuration I would recommend going with now. |

Going strong after 2 years
Cons: A little loud for a hard drive
Pros: Has yet to get a bad sector. Comment:
Should have bought it from Newegg and saved some money. Not sure why but Linux reports that this drive is about 10~15 GB bigger than Windows, but I think that it is the way Windows partitions and formats the drive versus Linux. |

Works fine
Cons: None
Pros: Fast and reliable. I bought these a year ago and came back to write a review Comment:
why so little stars? I took a chance on 2 and they are fine. |

Not reliable!
Cons: I got my first Reallocated Sector Count after 15 days, and the second one in less than two months! Explanation of Reallocated Sector CountWhen an HD encounters a surface error, it marks that sector as unstable. If you are lucky, the HD would be able to recover the unstable sector, but in my case it did not.I tried many different HD tools even the one from Seagate, with no success.
Pros: Very fast. I move GB of files with an average of 60MB/sec. This under Linux. Comment:
I got 2 Reallocated Sector Count in less than 2 months.By the way, this HD can handle a maximum of 32 Reallocated Sector Count.I have a Fujitsu 2.5" for more than two years, and no one bad sectors. |

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 320GB - SATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:memory cache5 years went to 3nothing else for the price
Pros:Pricewarranty good replacement Comment:
I bought this hard disk drive for a customer, he wanted to replace his old 80gb in his computer. Its a very good drive for the price, but now it seems a little bit old, like you can get 500 gb for almost the same price so I not recommend get this drive, and get a 500gb instead. Else than that, those are great drives. |

Works well and quietly
Cons: None
Pros: Shipped and came in when expected. Plenty of protection in the packaging. Completed a scan, error free, no defects to the physical drive. Faster than my older 7200.10 by about 20MB/s read/write. Runs quietly, although I have 2 120MM fans and a 92MM side fan. Comment:
Running as a secondary drive(right now). Due to replace the older 7200.10 as that one is aging from alot of use and some of the SMART numbers are getting dangerous. Good Drive
Cons: Well that would be a lie. I did have one issue about 4 years ago. Every drive they sent me didn't work. After the Third RMA I put a note in there explaining what's going on and that I have been a Seagate customer for years now and also telling them to just refund my money and I will get one from another manufacture. Well they sent me 3 new drive and papers showing that they were tested and worked and had rapped them with so much bubble rap. It would have been able to completely cover my full size truck.
Pros: I have see using Seagate Barracuda's for years now and I have never had a problem with them....(Explained in the CONS) Now back to this product. Good response time I would recommend this hard drive to anyone that's looking for a good and well priced hard drive. Comment:
Would recommend this hard drive to anyone that's looking for a good and well priced hard drive. |

2 yrs strong
Cons: Not much cons really. Sometimes the loading noise did get louder than my 120mm fans, but rarely.
Pros: I have 2 of these Seagate 320gb sata hard drives ran @ raid 0 for 2 yrs on an Abit AW8-D board. They have run good and strong this whole time. Reading at 7200 rpm made for fast access time and not much noise over Antec 900 case fans. 16mb cache was sufficient enough for multi-tasking y loading many files and applications. Comment:
My 2 hard drives have ran strong for 2 years until just recently that they have started acting up. |

New FIrmware makes them great
Cons: Older drives are not reliable. Should upgrade them to the SD2B firmware or chuck them
Pros: Newegg is shipping drives now with a completely different firmware from all the SDxx revisions Comment:
Seagate sucks for having all these issues. The way they handled it is HORRIBLE. What happened to them? |

Two For Two
Cons: Not particularly speedy or silent, but I wasn't expecting it to be.
Pros: Two were purchased, and two worked. Basic speed and noise, comparible to any other 7200RPM HDD. Good price to size ratio, especially with the promo code. Comment:
It is thinner than most other Hard Drives. Is there any other benefit to single platter? |

Bricked
Cons: It broke fast.Worked fine for a few days, then the OS no longer saw it. Oh well.
Pros: It was fast. Comment:
You win some, you lose some, bye bye Seagate.Hm, I guess I can't give zero eggs? Well, one rotten egg it is then. |

Perfection
Cons: None so far. I will update if problems occur.
Pros: Work great.Very fast for not being a Raptor.Great for RAID.Both came in working order. Comment:
I just two of these specifically for a RAID 1. An earlier post stated that these were not made for RAID as said by Seagate but this is wrong. They work great in RAID and when I looked at the possible uses on Seagate's site one was RAID. I have one other Western Digital HDD for storage and these work just as well. Highly recommended. |

getting worse
Cons: !!!-JUNK-!!!
Pros: Got my old files off B4 RMA. Comment:
I put the drive into another computer. It kept causing both computers to hang when moving large files, but less so when used as a secondary drive instead of moving over ether net. When I run scan disk it gets to phase 5 and says that the task could not be completed. The system hangs, and I have to do a hard reboot. The same happens when I run a both Piriform's Defragger & Windows disk-defrag. The Seagate utility says that there aren't any problems when tested??? |

If you want space with very mediocre performance, and a lot of loud clicks that will make you think click of death, then these are for you! Seagate assured me a few times that these loud clicks are normal. These drives just basically suck. Spend some more money and buy some Raptors if you want performance. I'm getting sick of these slow drives and have been seriously thinking about replacing at least my OS drive with a Raptor, which would probably be about 3 times faster than these non-performance drives. The best I can hope for is that they keep working as storage drives, anyway. I don't trust them, and I back up any important data I keep on them, daily.
