Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3GB/S Hard Drive
Cons:1 Year warranty (WD Black ships with 3), Ships in OEM plastic wrap and NCIX cardboard box with bubble wrap.

Pros:Fast, Built-in Free-fall sensor, Quiet, Cheap
Comment:
I had to upgrade my 500GB 7200rpm Toshiba that came with my Dell. My choices were the WD black or this. I picked this because of the built in free fall sensor. My laptop already came with a sensor that then controlled the head of any hard drive. But I wasn't going to take chances with drive compatibility. So anyways, to sum it up the drive works perfectly. ATTO test averaged 100+MB/s for write and 110+MB/s read. Its faster than the Toshiba at around 80-90. Its rated to consume a little less power as well. Its quiet, haven't really heard it so far. Don't think heat's an issue either.Even tested it on a USB enclosure and that works great as well. Although, I would suggest a 1TB or more 5400rpm drive for external drives. You can't tell the speed over USB.I would have liked to see the 3 year warranty like WD offers.

Perfect for my external drive for mobile usage. I use it in the office for data transfer - it's big enough to handle the job and small enough to tuck in a pocket.

Installed in my added HD bay in my Asus G73JH with no challenges. Was recognized best away. Quick format. I hate how they advertise 750gb then you get 698gb usable, just a private pet peeve of mine.

Great unit for all your 2.5 HDD requirements.I bought one to use in my server (HP Proliant DL380-G5) and it works great in a RAID array.I fully intend to populate the whole array with these drives, and would recommend this drive to anyone requiring a drive of this type.

Higher capacity, seemingly rapid drive. Seagate reliability. Warrantee service from Seagate Excellent. Has crashed and burned twice in 1.five months. Now finding a replacement. Seemed flakey with cloning SW from the start out. Took three tries to effectively clone. Ultimately got a excellent clone, but that clone copy crashed inside 48 hours of producing. Glad I nonetheless had my old HD 鸴GB Seagate) to return to. I'm not fully convinced the SMARTALIGN technology is a go. This initially drive with this engineering has verified to be a flake, so I'm biased now. All other Seagate HD's I've owned have been flawless, tho I am used to utilizing Hitatchi's in my laptop. Only other laptop Seagate is the 500GB I'm making use of now. Other people are USB 1+TB drives. Will see how the replacement performs- I hope I just got a dog very first time out and the replacement is fine.

Comment:
Extremely rapid drive. Upgraded from SAMSUNG Spinpoint MP4 HM640JJ 640GB 7200 RPM, and I observed an immediate difference in all operations. This, from a disk clone of the Samsung to the Momentus, precise similar drive configuration, substantially quicker on loading and opening just about almost everything, Photoshop rendering, Non-Linear Digital Audio/Video, and so forth. Incredibly quiet drive, and appears to run no hotter than the Samsung. Additional huge for a common size drive, and 7200 RPM is undoubtedly the way to go until solid state gets less buggy and pricey. A+ on this drive - extremely impressed. Running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, i7-640M, 8GB DDR3. None. Can't wait for 1TB in this model!

This is the very best drive for the PS3, it fits with no a hitch and its a 7200rpm speed loads games in a flash. It would have been great to recieve the drive with at least 700GB, but i bet you have heard the issues with seagates platters. i would have RMA'ed it but it was for my PS3 so i didnt bother. I would have bought the Western Digital insted but i didnt know WD was releasing a 750Gb version at the time i placed the order.

Fitting upgrade for any notebook where you need performance and capacity. I've upgraded two notebooks with these and look forward to seeing 1TB and larger sizes in the coming year. The older 320GB versions were very reliable for me and these should be no exception.

Not a whole lot - 贄 paper weight. Seemed to work for a couple of weeks. Started to have overflow errors. Employed Disk Utility and repaired drive but right after a whilst began to do the identical factor and eventually really crashed OSX. I reformatted the drive with Disk Utility and rebuilt operating process and applications and once more after a couple of days However I had written on the leading of the drive, on the writeable surface (a practice I started sometime ago as soon as I get a new drive, so that I can keep track of when I got it, installed it and so on). Sent the driver back with and RMA and I was informed that due to "Graffiti on item" they would not accept it. OK, lesson learned. I understand newegg's position, but this clearly is not the trigger of the issue. I am disappointed as I have had quite a couple of Segate drives more than the years without having any issues. They said that I have to deal straight with Seagate; I referred to as a little even though ago, but they are in a department meeting. argh...

-Purchased it for my jailbroken PS3 to store backups and has far more than enough space-Quicker than the stock 5400rpm -keeps cooler than stock drive -Formatted to less than 700gb of usable space which doesnt truly matter as its for my PS3-Notciably louder than stock drive, although I play with headphones so i dont hear it. Replaced a 120gb Hitachi 5400rpm hard drive that came with my ps3 slim

Purchased this to upgrade a Dell latitude d620 notebook, I've always been a fan of Seagate hard drives and this one is no exception. Quiet and fast, no problems ghosting over the OS from the original 80 gig drive. Very happy with it and the price on sale. No vibration at all. Would definitely recommend and would buy again

I replaced my old WD 750 GB with this drive. There was absolutely nothing incorrect with my WD drive but this drive is more rapidly and so quiet that you can't even feel it is there. On top of that it runs much cooler also. None so far. Really great drive for the cost, I would extremely suggest.

This Drive is Fantastic! It had very little reviews when i bought it, so i want to assistance out other individuals. Put this into a Notebook Replacing 500GB 5400 RPM drive (was running out of storage space) so the added 250 GB of breathing space need to final me a year or soo... Drive is Rapidly or Quicker than the 5400 rpm drive i had. Does not as hot as i even though it would. Only time will show how nicely it performs out in my DELL Inspiron 6400 (E1505) -Only 16 MB of cache (what is 16 MB these days anyway), could settle for 32... -It runns HOTTER than the 5400 rpm, but is indeed not as hot as the OLDER Segate 7200rpm drive i had 3 years ago.. Receiving five.9 score in Windows 7 ... (up from 5.7 score on the WD 5400 rpm drive) ... But, I would not make a selection on the "Windows Efficiency Score" The Overall performance improvement is definitely there!

Excellent on every little thing: most significant and featest HD on the market placequiet drive. I am particularly Content with this drive.i am making use of already ten drives all came best. NONE. Don't read reviews saying : DOA.Any product can brake. if DOA, Seagate will replace, so what is the problem? you ought to have backup any way.Seagate has far better worldwide warranty than any other brand. and Seagate drives are the most resisting drives.all other brands brake far more than Seagate.

Storage size and RPM speed. None so far, will post once again if there are. Installed in in an HP 6730b enterprise laptop- employed Norton Ghost eight.3 on a UBCD4Win to clone from the earlier 160GB. It cloned at an steady 2500 MB/s [I assume that's the appropriate unit of measure]. All I had to do was Run the Windows 7 repair disk to alter the boot disk identifiers for Windows and it booted perfectly.

High capacity, common thickness... Drive essentially DOA. Cloned fine, the technique started, then hung. Negative. Ran a drive test, failed surface scan. Ran HDD Regenerator, and stopped it about 230 undesirable/repaired sectors. This is not the first Seagate drive I've had poor be bad straight out of the box -- it's the sixth. I'll be sticking with Western Digital, I feel. I know poor sectors occur, but this is really pretty poor. Amusingly, all of the other Seagate drives that had been bad-from-box had been 750's, as well -- but this was the initially laptop 750. Coincidence? Most likely. Either that, or Seagate actually has it out for me!
