Sennheiser HD555 Binaural Stereo Headphones
Cons:not meant for outdoor use
Pros:Relatively cheap for a Hi-fi headphoneyou do not need an amp for these to sound great Comment:
I wasn't impressed when I first put these on, sure there is more detail, but it seems hollow, but as time passes...I started to appreciate music without as much bass, it sounds cleaner and it really brings out the details. Maybe the burn in has something to do with it too, so don't judge until u burn in at least 100 hours. You do look kinda stupid if you wear it outside plus these are open cans so the bus engine is kind of an annoying complement to my music when i did wore them outside.Used this on a Creative Audigy 2 ZS with 3 op amps modded with National LM4562 . A pretty good op amp, I haven't tried dedicated amps, but some of the ones I had been looking at, such as headroom microDAC seems to have the same DAC as audigy Cirrus CS4398, with unknown op amps, so I don't if it's an upgrade or downgrade to use one. It's pretty loud without an amp if I max it...in fact it's so loud HD555 can act as speakers =) |

Sennheiser HD555 Binaural Stereo Headphones
Cons:- not really a con as it's a limitation of headphones compared to speakers and that is the ability to shake the room for movies and etc, but as I said, common in ALL headphones and not really a major flaw
Pros:- details details details that match really high end sound systems- very nice and tight bass- doesnt make it so that the sound is inside your head as compared to closed headphones Comment:
For the price that I got it for when it was on special, it is a good buy. Very high quality pair of cans and even make people wearing glasses feel comfortable with the cans on. Sound quality matches my speaker system that I have in the living room, and compared to my klipsch promedia 2.1, it has more details, while Klipsch Promedia 2.1 is still very good and has the edge for shaking the room with nice tight bass because of hte subwoofer. In otherwords, both the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 and the Sennheiser HD555 are very good, and instead of one replacing the other, I think this is a good combo that complements the others.... and with some people complaining aobut hte bass (or rather lack of) ... I have to say that I dotn know what they are listening to but for audiophile CDs that I have, the bass is very rich and deep and very high quality. As to some people saying that bass is tinny, that is truly false as well. At a reg price of $199, it mgiht be a bit expenisve for a pair of headphones, but it takes you into the HiFi Audiophile world and in absolute terms, it is worht it... and if youcan get it for a lower price... it is a very very good deal This review was modfied by poster @ 01-18-08 04:59 PM |

Sennheiser HD555 Binaural Stereo Headphones
Cons:-not very versatile as the 3.5mm jack needs to be added to be used with regular mp3 players and such...which is a nuicance-cannot really carry them to places because of the cord length and the jack problem...mostly meant to sit at ur computer or to take to lans.-somewhat pricey...but thats the price you pay for quality.-no mic if ur planning on using these to play games online.
Pros:-open cup that covers your entire ear. which results in minimal pressure on ears themselves-amazing quality...picks up the lows and high pitches...with amazing bass!-long cord allows you to use the headphones if your comp is far away from you. Comment:
Although i did not buy these from ncix...i own a pair of these and i have to say that for someone who is looking for a pair of headphones that are amazing quality and have high levels of durability...and wouldnt mind spending the extra bread....these are the headphones for you.I would say that these are the entry level HP (headphones) in the 500 line even though the 500 and 515 come before the 555...they provide amazing sound quality with perfect levels of treble bass and low and high pitches. Packed together with a nice soundcard....like the xfi blaster from creative....this is a knockout combo for that more than avid music user. I would recommend these to anyone! |

Sennheiser HD555 Binaural Stereo Headphones
Cons:Wire terminates with 1/4" jack -> 1/8" adapter. Makes for a long awkward connector.No in-line volume adjustment
Pros:Great sound reproductionVery comfyEasy to replace damaged cords or driversDecent price (Great PP price) Comment:
Before I had these, I mostly used some Sennheiser 160's. I was very impressed with the 160's, and after getting these, its just another step in the right direction.I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but I enjoy treating myself to quality computer equipment. After searching around, I decided these were about as good as I could get without getting involved with pre-amps and mega price tags.They reproduce sound and music very well from my aging SB Audigy 2 ZS. I love being able to hear new subtle notes from my music with these.No buyers remorse here, great buy. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-05-07 10:45 PM |

When I first got these headphones I was a wee bit disapointed, but after burning them in extensively they seem like a completely different set of headphones.. They are simply amazing and I immediately noticed the huge difference in sound quality in Counter-Strike, footsteps were very strong and distinct in comparision to my icemats. One thing that may be a bit bad about them is the lack of bass, but you will eventually come to appreciate a sound without an overwhemling bass.All in all I have no regrets, as these are great headphones for the sale price I got on them.
