I put a really quickly, large-ish technique in this practically silent, power efficient, modest package.Simple assembly took much less than an hour. I utilized a 2.5" SSD for principal drive and had to supply a my personal bracket. Core i7 875K, 16GB RAM, WD 128GB Silicon Edge SSD, HIS Radeon 5450 Silent video card. Windows 7 64-bit.For the price tag, this Shuttle unit is extremely difficult to beat. I built a comparable J3 method for my wife with an i7 920, but that one isn't almost as quiet as this J2.

Finally! Shuttle Cooling resolution along with mini-itx mobo and mini card reader. Looks fantastic. No difficulty with install, good benchmarking results. Was worried when Shuttle item in the channel seemed to dry up, but they have a true winner right here. You Will Really like this Box. 50 Shuttle builds and counting and organizing on six far more of these. Wisper Quiet, Incredibly cool looking, and the value is appropriate. Remeber, you would spend a bit for this water cooling technique if you had to acquire separately. Perhaps an ESATA port on the back? All aluminum for the identical value? I don't know, they have just carried out a amazing job with this model. System Config - Tested with Prime95. Window Score: Procɋ.five Memɋ.five GraphɊ.7 G.GraphɊ.7 P. + Compatibility with Intel Core i5 and i7 CPU's+ Huge DDR3 memory capacity+ Space for 2 hard drives (or 3 if you use the optical bay)+ HDMI out+ Mini-ITX motherboard compatiblity - PCI-express slot turns itself off when you use a CPU with on-die graphics- 4, 8, and 12GB of RAM worked. 16GB and the unit did not POST- 95% positive you can not use HDMI audio-out and regular audio jacks at the exact same time I bought this unit to serve as my somewhat low-power household theater/media center Computer and DVR. I was going to install a Core i5 680 (with on-die graphics) and use the HDMI to run to my residence theater. Also I have a Hauppauge dual ATSC more than-the-air tuner I was going to place in the PCI-express slot. However, when the motherboard detects (and uses) the on-die graphics, it automatically shuts off the PCI-express slot. So that slot is just dead space if you want to use the HDMI port. Forget about easily installing my dual tuner (or a Ceton CableCARD Quad tuner). I read by means of all the literature about this item, and no where did it say that the PCI-express slot turns off when using the HDMI port!General, I really really like this product. But this PCI-express issue is seriously stupid.

its tiny and and exceptional option for lan parties. glossy front looks excellent near my samsung tv and the i.c.e. fan is pretty silent. my setup boots win 7 in 8 seconds. i enjoy it for what it does... i had to rma a single result in it wouldnt start out to bios. the second one particular worked best tho which leads to the true cause i removed eggs.... HEAT. result in the case is small your graphics card is practically hugging the wall. the case has vent holes at the bottom but i assume everyone knows hot air rises. after a even though of playing heavy (say about 6-7 hours if your a junkie like me) my gfx card (pny 460 oc) gets also hot and shuts down comp. when you touch the case its actually warm. i never checked temperature ratings but that was a suretell sign that my comp isnt receiving the expected ventilation necessary. if i take the cover off then my heat issues are all solved tho. my specs are:intel i5 760pny gtx 460 ococz gold 12gb Ɠx4gb)g skill phoenix pro series 128gb ssdalso dont be concerned about the 300watt psu. it handles the job good. i have 500 watt psu that i bought for 贄 off shuttle that it turned out i didnt need to have. id return it but i may use it if i determine to upgrade to a gtx580 or a ati 5870. dont assume it would manage those gasguzzlers

Built with i3-540, 4GB GSKILL Ripjaw, and a 500GB Western Digital, no issues whatsoever. I like this personal computer so a lot that I just ordered a second one particular (considering it's ์ less costly than I paid for the 1st one particular due to black Friday) and ordered an i5-760 and 8GB of GSKILL Ripjaw for about 踰. I am a small disappointed about the lack of newer attributes like USB 3. and SATA 6.0Gb/s, but I feel better figuring out the case supports standard mini-ITX boards in case I come to a decision to upgrade in the future (the quantity of possibilities for boards in this form aspect is quickly growing).

inexpensive, quiet. Really speedy develop, well laid out. Just a couple of flaws, 1 minor, a single fairly important for me.Minor: The door covering the front usb ports is created of flimsy plastic, feels like it is going to break off any minute.Important: I spent a day trying to get the integrated graphics to operate with Ubuntu (Meerkat). I am utilizing a Core i3, 3.06 GHz processor. The video was jittery, moreso at higher resolutions. I went ahead and installed Windows for a sanity check and all was fine. Offered that I couldn't locate any info on the internet about complications with the Core i3 chip or Ubuntu I'm suspecting the board design (Although Ubuntu complications could be the challenge as nicely and can't be ruled out). This all went away when I grabbed a stand-alone GPU board from yet another create, now video renders as expected . I'm a tiny miffed about having to acquire a separate video board but I'm done putting much more work into this.

None I'm now on my second one, and its the 3rd time Newegg has tried to replace it. Very first 1 came DOA, then with the return Newegg sent me the LGA1366 model which is useless to me as I bought anything for LGA1156, now I finally got an additional SH55-J2 and once once again its DOA. I'm spending almost a month trying to sort this out. I purchased it on sale during Black Friday, so if I did a basic return it would cost me considerably far more to obtain a similar model. Looks like I'm going to have to maintain rolling until I lastly get 1 that functions.

- may well have been good if it worked. - Took forever to get it to recognize the keyboard and mouse, apparently since they are going by way of a switcher. USB ports are finicky at very best. - Front of case is low-cost plastic, the drive door and connection cover are flimsy and bend very easily. - LAN is defective. Even with total windows reinstall, the system says there is no network adapter. Shuttle tech support unhelpful - apparently there is no way in BIOS or in viewing hardware to tell if the LAN is defective; no settings that can be changed; and so on. - A number of re-installs of all versions of all drivers did not aid, nor did update to newest BIOS.- Shuttle refuses to RMA saying I have to go by way of the seller; but NewEgg refuses to RMA saying it's under warranty with the manufacturer. Quiet and smaller Only worked for a couple of months before it started giving me trouble. Now I have to RMA it and there is no nearby shipping/dealer in Canada to ship it to.This means the unit has to be shipped to California, in order to method my RMA, which will be incredibly costly (then I will have to be concerned about customs charges when the RMA is sent back to me). The lack of Canadian support for this item will avoid me from ever acquiring another Shuttle program once again. This has nothing to do with Newegg.ca at all, this is totally a Shuttle Computer Inc problem.

Cleaner insides than prior models. i5-750 doesn't work with it mainly because the VGA/HDMI is really pass-via graphics (as other have mentioned). However, I can't even return my i5-750 and buy a i5-670 which is much more costly but includes graphics. So I'm going to go retail and attempt this. Also I don't know if PCI graphics are supported. I have PCI-e raid in this so I can't do both. Hate troubleshooting acquiring out factors. Some evaluations here were posted soon after I ordered. Bad luck I guess.

Right size for moving back and forth from home to lake cabin. Has space for every thing I needed; everything quickly fit and it's quieter than my two year old Shuttle SG33. (It sits about 2 feet from my elbow at waist height and I can barely hear the quiet hum when it's a low load and it's nonetheless incredibly tolerable when the fan revs due to loading.) I was concerned about a quad processor specifically at the wattage limit - but it hasn't been a sound or heat problem. I agree with other reviewers - there aren't adequate usb ports. Personally, I would have preferred on-board assistance for my dual monitor operation. This is my third shuttle - my wife also has a SG33 and my employee gets my nonetheless operating SG33. Immediately after 1 day, I am well pleased with my rig - with my remaining issues becoming to figure out Win 7 (after years of comfort with XP Pro) and going via the slog of installing all the software program I operate. That mentioned - I still created one mistake - although I was waiting for my order to arrive. Immediately after reading reviewer comments about my processor, I ordered the extremely recommended Hyper 212 Plus Cooler. When it arrived and I opened the box - I had to laugh - as there is no way it will fit!My Rig:Shuttle SH55Intel i5 760 - two.8G (four core)Shuttle's included processor coolerMushkin Enhanced Blackline - 8GB Ɣx2) 1333OCZ SSD Agility 2 - 60 GB for my computer softwareSeagate 1 TB HDD for my files and picturesASUS GeForce GT430 (I don't play games)ASUS 24x DVD BurnerWin Pro 7 64 bitTwin Samsung 22" Monitors

A good value for a Barebones. Compact and great searching, solid chassis (steel) with an integrated quiet cooling answer, and mini ITX MB, and an adequate PSU. Effortless create and setup. None to speak of. Be conscious no rear panel e-Sata (front only), and only four USB. Front panel has some cosmetic design troubles, with a glossy (fingerprint magnet) finish rather than the usual brushed finish identified on other Shuttles. Doors really feel a little flimsy, but are functional. Optical drive door release button could have been made to appear like it was a lot more than an afterthought although, but works. All minor items contemplating every thing else the model gives. Still gets a 5 egg. Build: Win7 Home ࿠bit) Intel i3-540 3.06GHz, 4GB dual Ch Corsair XMS3 1333MHz, OCZ Vertex2 60GB SSD, HD4550 silent cooled graphics, BD combo DVDRW, and external HDD storage drive. Linksys Wireless-N dual band USB adapter. Makes for a quick, cool, and whisper quiet HTPC machine.Usual fantastic pricing at Newegg and rapidly no cost shipping. Wish Newegg would double box circumstances and barebones although, the OEM boxes get beat up pretty very good.

Shuttle ITX design, can fit full size graphics card, straightforward to construct: i5-670 Clarkdale, 2x4GB 8GB Corsair XMS3, WD 1TB Green tough drive - Does NOT function out of box with all i5 processors- Restricted Bios tweaking for overclocking (underclocking) even with newest bios as of Ƒቭቧ)- Current bios fix does not address stability problems- Front panel audiojacks have static noise when employing headphones At initial could not get it to perform with i5-670 Clarkdale. On first boot, program kept crashing back to startup. Following attempting the usual steps, reseat CPU, removing/reinstall memory, graphics card, etc., could not get it to boot correctly into Windows. Kept crashing BSOD.Then went to Shuttle site and downloaded the latest bios. SH55JSCG .106 Ƙቻ񳏊). The bios notes states "Improved stability for some CPUs." So Shuttle is defintely conscious that they have problems with this board/model.When flashed to new bios, I was able to run Win7. Still every as soon as in awhile get BSOD 2ndary clock interrupt errors. I've tried each and every tweak (memory timings and voltage settings) but cant get 100% stablility. Worse off, I cant disable or turn off TURBO mode without having getting an immediate BSOD.Also cant fix the static noise on front panel audio with headphones. No driver update will fix it.So for now NOT Advised for i5.Shuttle desires to update their bios

Great little box for a number of different uses. Would make a great media PC. I'm using it for a portable server. Running 8GB RAM an i5 processor and two 3.5" Hard drives. There is room for a third hard drive if you use an adapter and don't need a CD/DVD drive. I've been really happy with it. A little frustrating at first, I was getting repeated BSD until I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version.

It's smaller, it works, I can play Black Ops! It can manage an ATI HD 5770, Intel i7 870, 2x 4GB of 1333, 1 64GB SSD (Sandforce of course), 1 green 2TB HDD, a DVD Burner. mini ITX format case means upgrades. Would prefer energy supply to be 400 watt so i could get a stronger video card. Video card runs just more than 80c following an hour in black ops on high settings. No USB three. Cant use i3 or i5 cpus if you want to use the pci-e 16 slot. Can only use up to 95 Watt CPUs. I am running about 250 watts under load (aka playing Black Ops). I am quite happy i decided to get this (and on a black friday unique too) to build a portable gaming desktop. I would pay for it at the typical price.

Little form factor, quiet, heat-pipe opens up internals and keeps heat away from HD. All parts fit nicely. MB is already routed with front panel buttons and switches. Got the black friday cost, and now I like it so well I'm obtaining yet another at the common cost. Heat pipe system is a bit tricky, read the doc initially. Also be certain to ground yourself before putting in CPU and RAM to steer clear of difficulties later. Put an i3-550 in with four GB RAM. Win 7 runs fantastic. Have Linux running in virtual box under Win 7. Fastest machine we have.

Works exactly as advertised. It's a tiny form factor case with no particular problems. Much more USB ports on the front would be nice A lot of individuals have complained about the power supply, but I'm making use of it with the below setup with no problems:Core i3Radeon 5850 (it just fits in the case but there are no power draw issuesƞgb ram2x2 TB tough drivesA few reviewers have complained about the power supplies inability to deal with a modern day videocard or that they can't figure out which cards will function; a modicum of research would show them that shuttles web site really has all this info. This system can function with the 6850 with the normal power supply (and with a Core i5): http://global.shuttle.com/support_faq_detail.jsp?PI򕑑&PFI򕙯

Cons: - Poor air flow- BIOS runs super slow, if a USB 1.0 keyboard is used and if you use the wrong ram. See Shuttles web site for recommended ram- 300 Watt PSU is a weak for higher end cards. Choose wisely. NCIX tried, but could not source the higher end 500 Watt PSU

Pros: - Super small, fits on a shelf- Easy to work on and add more ram, hard drive- Takes a large video card, like a XFX 9600 GT- CPU cooler is quite clever and works well- Makes a great hackintosh
Comment:
Picked up this little rig on sale for 189.00. Really can't beat it: Case, PSU, motherboard and most parts were pre-assembled. Instructions were easy to follow and I had my assembled in a hour. Originally had a passive 8500 GT running and it was great for watching movies. (Fits nicely on an IKEA shelving unit.) Upgraded the video card to a XFX 9600 GT to run Left for Dead 2 and ran into a bottle neck with the PSU. After trying to source Shuttles bigger 500 watt, I ended up removing the 300 watt PSU and run the wires from my BFG 550 watt ATX PSU through the back. It sits on top of the case. Works pretty good, but airflow was poor. Picked up the Antec Spot Cool fan and that helped keep things cool. Overall, a great case for the money and fun to mod.

Comment:
Overall this is a decent system for a HTPC, IT feels its build Solid. I give props to shuttle for not using a non standard motherboard, as this uses a standard ITX board, and adding extras like silicone feet so no vibrations come from the unit. The Bios should have better fan controls as some people would have like a custom setting. The system runs cool and quiet. I do recommend this to someone who is building their first itx system, as its very simple to build all you need to buy is the ram, hdd, cpu and dvd drive. and the installation is very simple. As all the wires are prerouted for you ie the power cables and sata as well. It says on the site that it supports Dual slot graphics cards, i don't know if all the dual slots can fit in this as some have custom coolers that may not be able to.
