Cons:low-quality build/assembly (POS); too few MOLEX connectors (3).

Pros:Sata power connectors; low-wattage PSU, relatively quiet operation, inexpensive.

This powers an old system running an ASUS A8N7X, with AMD Athlon XP 2500+, Tt Volcano 9, Seagate Barracuda 160GB (IDE) HDD, LG DVD-ROM, ATI Radeon X800Pro (AGP8X), inside a Gigabyte GZ-X7 chassis.Would not buy again. Can find greater wattage for better price anywhere on Earth.

Sparkle Power SPI ATX-400PN 400W ATX12V 20/24PIN Power Supply W/ 120MM Fan P4 AMD Ready OEM
Cons:Inefficient by modern standardsNo 4+4 pin Aux

Pros:CheapReliable
Comment:
I guess for what it is, this PSU is pretty good, but it's definitely getting long in the tooth. These things run forever, and are great for older systems, but for a modern machine, for around the same price or a tad more, you can do better. The efficiency of this unit is mediocre, and there are conflicting reports of whether this unit has a 4+4 pin: mine did not.

Cons:none

Pros:Very solid PSU
Comment:
Some P4 3.0GHz computers need very good power supplies, this SPI-400 definitely is your choice, for example, the computer of my friend P4 desktop was used with TT-430Watt PSU, but just one month this 430W PSU failed, I changed this SPI-400W, by now over one year no any problem, still quiet.

I bought this power uspply for a budget build. I am using it with a 690g chipset + amd atholon 5000X2 cpu. It is great. I wanted a psu that is not expensive but that is reliable. I recommend it over coolermaster that can be cheaper, and this psu is similar to corsair 400 and silverstones psu as well. I would recommend it for a cheap computer.

Sparkle Power SPI ATX-400PN 400W ATX12V 20/24PIN Power Supply W/ 120MM Fan P4 AMD Ready OEM
Cons:- The wires coming out of the PSU could be a higher quality (the wire just feels cheap)- gotta love the Canada Post Bags used to package these!

Pros:Used 10+ of these over the years. None of them have died or had problems. For the cost its very hard to do better. Many of my name brand PSUs have had ram problems etc over the years.- heavy- 120MM fan- quiet- lots of power for low cost.
Comment:
These are my number 1 choice for building low to mid range desktops. Sure a $150 PSU may be better. . . but you can't argue with the price. I've read many people using these to power some pretty loaded systems with no problems. Most of my systems build with these have been fairly moderate.

Sparkle Power SPI ATX-400PN 400W ATX12V 20/24PIN Power Supply W/ 120MM Fan P4 AMD Ready OEM
Cons:-No 8 pin CPU connector-only one line with sata power cables-wire are too short for my liking(they do the job but don't leave much room for cable management

Pros:-dirt cheap-pretty good quality compared to generic PSU's
Comment:
Alright I'll give this a 4/5 I know I gave it a lot of negatives but remember that this PSU is dam cheap and can be cheaper if price matched. Remember the PSU comes with absolutely nothing other then the unit (no power cable, screws or anything else)so pick up a power cable and screws if you need(should come with a case)I'm using it to power a AMD 5000+ CPU and 780G mobo with 1 HDD 1ODD and 2 60mm fans and the PSU doesn't even rev up it's fan. It's a great little unit for the price but they do skimp on cable length and quantity

Sparkle Power SPI ATX-400PN 400W ATX12V 20/24PIN Power Supply W/ 120MM Fan P4 AMD Ready OEM
Cons:Possibly lack of connector?

Pros:PriceQualityStabilityLack of noise
Comment:
Have had this PSU for 13 months (which replaced a generic PSU that came with the original tower) and have not encountered a single PSU-related problem. The pricing for the PSU is solid, even back when I bought it (but oddly, it was $41.92 back then). The quality of the PSU is exceptional as I never had to RMA or exchange the product since no problems arose from it powering my PC. This PSU is stable, no power fluctuations or random failures. Some people say this thing produces some unwanted noise, but to me, I have yet to hear its noise level rise above the other computer related components around it.The only possible weakness, but maybe not even relevant, is that the number of connectors from this PSU is very limited. BUT!! One thing you should keep in mind is that this PSU is ONLY 400W, so it wasn't designed to power a massive power with tons of things in it. If you have just way too many HDDs or fans, you might consider an alternative to this PSU cause this might not have the wattage required for your system.Overall, this is a very solid PSU and if mine were to burn out, i'd gladly by this model again to replace my current one.

Comment:
I got this to replace a generic PSU and for the price I paid with PP membership its well worth every penny. It's a solid power supply and with handle almost any basic system. If your gonna add a PCI-E card, you may want to look for something with higher wattage though.

Pros:Heavy , Big Heatsinks .120mm fan (41/2") .Lots of connectors (all kinds).
Comment:
This is my 2nd (or 3rd?) Sparkle . Sold the others in some builds (PCs).I usually open them up and remove the chrome grill ... Less Noise ! And maybe hookup a fan controller , just for fun. They're reliable , high Amperage power-supplies .Voltage counts ... yes . But Amperage is the juice that feeds power-hungry components . This baby comes with 18AMPSx2(rails). As long as the price stays really low , I'll order more of them . If not , I'll take my sweet time looking for a decent replacement Psu next time .Price-Does-Matter , "Dang-Blangit" !!!
