StarTech.com 2PT LP FW 1394 PCI CARD
Cons:* Came attached to low-profile bracket. Fortunately, it ships with a standard high-profile bracket, which you can swap out with a small screwdriver

Pros:* Worked right away* Not difficult to install, as long as you've installed cards before* Includes a 4-pin to 6-pin connection cable
Comment:
In this world of USB-everything, Firewire is an older option for transferring video clips to computer, and in particular my old Sony DSR-PD170 MiniDV.The physical install was easy enough - once I realized that the kit included a standard height mounting bracket. After that, it was just a matter of screwing it in place in my standard Windows 7 rig. There is no additional software provided.I then plugged the Firewire 6-pin connector to the card's port and plugged the 4-pin connector to my Sony. On flipping the camera's power switch to VCR mode, an interface popped up and basically walked me through the import process. By default, video clips are saved to the My Videos folder on your C: drive. My clips came across as 720x480 AVI files, consuming about 200mb per minute of footage.
