VANTEC EZ SWAP2 MRK-300FD-BK IDE ALUMINUM MOBILE RACK Black FOR 3.5IN HARD DRIVE /W FAN & LCD
Cons: It's long. I managed to fit mine in a smaller case, with a big power supply. The power supply cables got in the way, but I found ways around it.
Pros: Allows for swapping HDD's quickly. It's also great if you have no more room to add additional HDD's internally, but still have extra empty 5 1/2 inch bays. I like the LED's, and the fan is a plus to keep the HDD cool. |

Great product
Cons: one of the units failed because of broken pin @ the sata cable connector [sata 1st gen], mfg still exercised a warranty replacement.
Pros: Purchased 2 of these over a year ago, have been very happy, excellent price. Comment:
the sata 1st and 2nd generation cables AND connectors still need improvement, esp the bonding of the retainer to the board. |

Worth it
Cons: Might have a problem in smaller cases clearing the motherboard
Pros: Keeps drives cooler, makes it very easy to remove drives from the computer if your like me and constantly tearing your system apart and rebuilding it bigger and better Comment:

Well constructed and Looks nice
Cons: The weakest point of this could be the handle and the clicking mecanism when you push the cartrigge in, it feels a little bit fragile to mee and if you lock the cartridge with the key the handle could still be lifted a half an inch, I'm worried that my kid can come up some day and break it, (he's a destroyer)
Pros: It's doing it's job basically, it consists on a dock piece and the cartridge both are excellent quality, dual fan, not too much noise. Cosmetically looks beautiful and very professional. Comment:
Despite the con side I still give this a 5 star because I think this device worths more than the 20 dollars I'm paying for it, because so far is accomplishing it's basic function and because it looks cool :-) |

Cons: Case is long enough to interfere with motherboard in most cases in most bays. Usually has to be mounted in the top 5-1/4" bay.

Loud, fan failure

A lot of people are complaining about the build quality of the device but I think that that is the strong point of this device. I've had several different model drive racks before and I think this unit is pretty good in terms of build quality. The problem is that the device is loud, and the quality of the fans is suspect. I had the fan on one of mine go out in only a few months. Also, the ez-swap2 could be greatly improved if some simple design changes were made like ensuring that the fan was not occluded and putting more clearance under the drive. Rack manufacturers never seem to realize that most of the heat from a drive is dissapated through the bottom of the drive which is where the motor is. |

Poor quality, even for the price
Cons: What the photos will not show you, is that you have to UNSCREW the lid to put the hard drive in. That is not my idea of "EZ". I bought this thing to just drop in defunct hard drives for diagnosis.When unlocked/turned off, the bay is held in by the friction of the internal centronics connector, nothing else! Definitely not for carrying around.The glue holding the fan wire down is hard and domed, making it hard to impossible to put drives in.The space available for putting the drive in is 3/10 of an inch smaller than some other racks I've bought from NewEgg. The power connector is not at a 90 degree angle either, making the space even MORE cramped.
