Very good price, western digital is typically a really dependable brand. Lasted much less than a year. Don't purchase this unique WD drive. Because I bought I see that there are a lot of critiques displaying up with experiences similar to mine. WD will get a pass from me on this one particular but if it occurs to another line I will be browsing for an additional brand of very first decision.

Price is affordable. WD is straightforward to RMA. Smart errors after 528 hours of use. Only 122 power on cycles. Poor sectors. Tested with Spinrite ahead of putting in service. I have bought 3 of these drives. two for a RAID system but I needed one particular for a buddies failed drive. I ordered a different to replace it. A month later replacing his drive once more. Checked the Clever info on the remaining drive. three attributes reporting pre-fail and a bunch additional reporting old-age. Power on hours - 28!!! Will test this 1 once more before putting into service.

quite good drive considering i used it for my xbox for xbmc and it handles it all in stride. i use it for movie watching to playing old college games like atari and such. it has handled it all quite nicely and is incredibly quite, so no complaints.. doesnt transform my xbox to get me a beer... and is kinda expensive if compared to sata but still decent. want seagate had a drive like this when i got this one, i do perfer seagate..

Fantastic value; Newegg service. Died immediately after a year and a half. Would have offered a lower review, but WD's RMA service was great, much superior than other businesses in my knowledge. All else getting equal, this'll make the distinction subsequent time if I'm choosing in between other HD suppliers and WD.

Quickly, quiet and lots of space for an IDE interface drive. This drive has permitted me to replace several smaller disks (but with adequate backup)... case runs cooler by about ten degrees. None at this time. A handful of more months to discover if this drive will hold up.... I was hesitant to acquire WD once more after they refused to honor a warranty on an OEM drive. I would have purchased Seagate if they had 500+ gigs on an IDE drive.

It is what it is, a 500GB hdd for a tiny added storage. Died right after a year and a half. No noises, was nonetheless detected. Just locked up when trying to access. Have to recognize WD's buyer service. RMA was straightforward and quickly. I did the Sophisticated replacement. Have to use credit card, but they send the replacement ahead of receiving the defective drive have 30 days to return defective drive or charged. They also shipped 2nd day air.

Rapid, quiet, reputable all at a quite good price. Couldn't ask for anything far more from it. It's worked incredibly effectively and continued my trust in Western Digital goods. If I need to have another a single or someone asked for my recommendation - this would be it. None so far. Wonderful mixture of value and product top quality. Anything I anticipated it to be. Good for added storage or back-up purposes.

Newegg processed and delivered the drive promptly. The drive would not pass western digital information lifeguard rapid test. Test failed on three unique pcs. Windows would only recognize drive if plugged in by way of external cable, i.e. sata to usb external drive cable. My second western digital drive did not turn out so good. I have 15 seagate/maxtor drives currently and have purchased a lot of much more in the previous. Two of the 15 I at present have failed in the past week. Now I get this doa from western digital. At present on the telephone with newegg (on hold for a ridicules 30 minutes) considering that I waited for much more than 30 minutes for the live chat help. More client service reps necessary…Also, the packaging of difficult drives has been an problem for quite some time. I believe they will by no means address this in neweggs shipping department. Soon after this rma I will acquire all my drives retail from an additional vender.

Quickly, quietest drive I've ever owned Died right after 8 months of light use The drive was excellent while it was working. When drive died it would not power up or spin. Largest disappointment was WD's RMA. I have been sent a diverse series remaned drive that is considerably slower and louder than the drive that I purchased. I contacted WD RMA about trying to get a drive identical to mine and their response was not helpful. Rating would be larger if they replaced like for like

Cheap. Doesn't get additional than 1-2MB/sec of study throughput on my IDE controller (though two other WD drives get 50MB+). Only gets ㅑMB/sec when attached to a different controller. This drive is garbage. I wouldn't get one more. I must have paid much more consideration to the unfavorable critiques here on NewEgg.

I replaced my aging 160GB seagate with this 500GB powerhouse from Western Digital. I initially transferred all my data from the old drive making use of a drive to drive transfer kit (took a small over 2hrs to do the whole transfer). I was worried when I read some of the testimonials about drives dying but so far I haven't one issue with this one particular. The drive so far is proving to be additional then reputable for me. If you have an old(er) Pc like me circa 2003 and are hunting to upgrade to a considerably bigger drive and you don't have an SATA connection is is probably your best bet. The value could look steep but its the ideal I've seen. none so far nevertheless below factory warranty and I have an extended warranty if anything takes place. I would advise Western Digital and this is my second drive from them 鶀GB mobile drive getting the first)

High capacity challenging drive at a great price, a single of handful of high capacity EIDE/PATA drives availabe... Had 1 go out on me at eight months but, WD covered it with the warrenty. Many friends and family members have had WD HDD fail them I really can\'t trust them as a reputable brand... I have had seagate drives last for 14 years, and still running strong...

Pretty fast for ATA. 16mb cache. Makes use of less energy than Caviar Black but outperforms Green. None. WD and NE are a wonderful combination.

I can't list any since it didn't perform for my want. I should have accomplished my homework ahead of choosing the drive. It doesn't function in a TiVo Series 1. Following some study on the TiVo forums I located that this series of WD drives are recognized to not perform in Series 1 TiVos. It is supposed to function in other Series TiVos.

Just a fantastic strong drive. It has been faithful, I now personal three of these. I choose the reliability of the IDE for my OS and programs, have had no issues. There are no real cons to this, some people may well gripe about it not becoming sata, or the cache, what ever. I am basically reviewing what the product advertised. I have advisable and installed these for a few individuals, also no challenges to report.

Price tag, ata100 for older machines, its riced up with logos. 1 failed a month in, then again 4 months in. I have to warranty my operate for a year so this pis ses me off. Also from time to time the drives wouldnt be detected on boot, maybe a spinup time issue. Im not obtaining anymore WD 500's We had been installing these with the Rosewill RC-200 Raid card as a mirrored method for some shoppers and so far they have been sketchy at ideal. It could be the raid cards or the extra in search of but i'm going to push 320GB drives on consumers instead from now on, they run cooler and aren't as heavy :(
