Quick, quiet, cool operating, simple setup no on/off switch, no activitity indicator, power-plug change now takes up more area. the transformer 'block' was in-line, now moved to plug and takes up a lot more space on your ups.

Plug and play, suitable out of the boxWonderful valueGreat energy economy, the drive sleeps when it is not in use but wakes up instantly when the drive is accessed. None. This is precisely what I anticipated and is performing to specs. Some quibble about the speed of the drive, but if you require a more quickly access drive, pay far more and get a blue or black drive. The green drive is ideal for basic use and backups. I use this with Time Machine on a Intel based Mac ƒ.2GHz). Setup was automatic, straightforward and fantastic. The drive operates excellent, no issues. Mainly because it is so massive, I also use it for editing MiniDV video with iMovie ཅ and Final Cut Express 4. I have in no way had a lag challenge or an access speed problem.

I got two of these from the local retailer with the Bull-Eye logo. Cost was very good. They are USB, so it's plug-n-play. The electrical plug is the adapter, no brick. One particular died immediately after a few hours of use. It powered up and then powered down. I guessed it was a low voltage issue. I exchanged for one more one, arg. WD-Seagate-Hitachi, they all have good quality control difficulties. These have a 1 year restricted warranty. WD doesn't seem to show longevity faith in these drives (same can be mentioned for other manufacturers with 1 year limited warranty drives). I won't be purchasing these again. You'll be superior off paying a couple of a lot more dollars and get a single with a 3 year restricted warranty on sale. Companies have faith in these. Obtaining these drives (with the one particular year limited warranty) and paying for an more two year extended warranty would price you just as considerably, if not much more. Do your personal due diligent, calculate and compare your price before you obtain – I discovered my lesson.Buy an affordable (on sale) hard drive enclosure with an OEM drive and place it with each other yourself. You can reuse the enclosure you buy when the difficult drive dies. I had a really hard time trying to open these Element enclosures. It’s made from plastic; I didn’t want to break it so I gave up. If someone can figure how to open the enclosure with no breaking it, please post the process.

Left it copying all evening and it was warm, but wasn't hot. Smaller/Compact. I like the little white light on the back. It doesn't light up my area with a blinking light at evening. None so far. Took around 7 hours to copy 500GB. So, about 20mb/s.

Really like the power saving characteristics. My old external HDs constantly remained on even even though the Pc was off and didn't have a energy switch; that generally bothered me. WD solved all of my issues with externals with this small sucker. Lots of space for a great cost and a good quality HD.EGGCELLENT! It wasn't acquire 1 get 1 cost-free..... It operates with Configurable USB Loader.

Took 1 day to transfer 600 GB of FLAC files, which is to be expected via the USB. The unit stayed cool ࿆ degrees) to the touch, not like my other Seagates ƕ). It took the location of a Seagate No cost Agent Pro. That is 2nd Seagate Pro Agent to bite the dust. I have been a powerful supporter for Seagate for years, but now I will phase them all out. Their internal HD's look to last longer, so maybe it's their enclosure. By the way, I have four - 14 cm fan blowing air over them, to preserve them cool. At instances they have reached 50 degrees & that that is not acceptable to me. So far this WD Essential hasn't exceeded 38 degrees. Wish I could stand it up, but I could live with this. Individuals complain that the light is on the rear of the unit, so just turn it around and face it forward. Two wires sticking out doesn't bother me.Good worth! For storage, I am shopping for WD's.

Bought two for 2TB extension to a pro DVR system, popped in the preformatted drives, loaded the required firmware & that was it. none LED on front or top would be great, rather than subsequent to the cord on the back side, so it would be less complicated to see if the drives are reading

1 TBNo bloatwareSilentHope it lasts, and from the strong develop of this HD, it possibly will Plugs in front, so you have wires hanging out the front of your desktop (as nicely as the normal connections in back)...not a big deal for laptop owners. This would be an great purchase in the 贄-120 range, (what other major-box retailers are charging). Got this for $.. (discount code of บ off from price tag)...what a bargain!!!Plug it in, and it just operates...(almost as if Apple had some thing to do with the design) This WD has NO bloatware, (unlike the "Essentials" line), no tax and absolutely free shipping to your door...Newegg rocks!!Obtain THIS !!

•[TB of Space!• Portable!• Small AC adapter (Not like those ones that the Adapter is the similar size as the drive) Not truly a con, I personal three of these now overall and had my 1st one for over a year. I know the “Elements” distinction on these is about saving energy, only factor I wish it has was some sort of LED Indicator on the front. The back does along with the USB and Power Connector, but does not make sense that it’s on the back. These drives make for an excellent backup storage. When I set up a new Pc, I Never conserve anything to the “C:” Drive, I usually attempt to convince to add a 2nd / Portable drive for all user data. Absolutely nothing like losing all your individual data since “WINDOWS” died!

Very good capacity, very good cost, in all past practical experience very good brand as well. Randomly died on me after 5 months. Spins up and shuts off, no longer recognized by my laptop or computer or other individuals. A little internet study indicates that this has occurred to a number of folks - most of the reviews are short term! Watch out!

-Quite Sleek feel and looks-Little, not heavy-Portable-Very quickly Read/Write rate-USB two.-WD High quality-No pre-loaded software-931GB of totally free space-Saves energy-Does not get hot.-Lasts a extended time. Absolutely nothing I can assume of. It is a excellent external HDD. It is little and transportable. Does not get hot when place under a lot of writing. Transferred about 80GB to it... took about 30 minutes to do it (understandable for USB), and did not get hot at all. No preloaded junk to be concerned about. Just best.I set it on major of my computer tower and connect the USB cable to the back of my Computer. Then I get the A/C cable and connect it to an extension cable. Then I connect it to one more extension cable. Then unplug the extension cable when not working with it.fiveǛ
