Capacity, Energy consumption, what else can I say, It is a great drive. I acquire from newegg all the time, but I did purchase this drive elsewhere to protected a couple of $$$$. Anyway, don´t be misled by the 5200 rpm, it is as quick or more rapidly that a 5400 since it has much more platters, it means that it has far more heads to read much more information that is all. This con is for those people today complaining about the size, IT IS ON THE SPECIFICATIONS so don´t go bashing a item since YOU DON´T KNOW HOW TO READ!!!! Tested and fit, I hope it aids some of you out there.Apple MacBook Pro 15” Apple MacBook Pro 17”HP Pavilion dv2000HP Pavilion dv6000 Lenovo ThinkPad T61Lenovo ThinkPad X61on each the hp´s it is tight but fits fine no heat issuesOn my 15" MBpro it runs HOT but not to the point of information corruption (it may well be my MBpro even though, it is BEAT UP ;)

Here are the performance specs for the WD tricky drive in 13" MBP 2010 using Quickbench. I returned the unit since it was as well noisy; sounded like the cpu fan was half on. QuickBench(TM) four. Obtaining 1TB in a laptop! Tight fit, Crashed immediately after 5 months I was so excited to have a TB tough drive in my laptop. It was a tight fit, but worked good... at first. After 3 months, it would blue screen at random, about every single two weeks or so, but would usually restart. Following 5 months, it blue screened and never turned back on yet again. Two other computer systems don't even recognize the drive although it sounds like it's operating. I known as a corporation to get a quote on recovering the details (last backup was 5 weeks earlier) and was told that he sees these drives all the time; they are seriously touchy and the smallest tap can render them dead... not significantly hope in recovery.

Good to have a 1TB Drive in my laptop. runs good, affordable read and create speeds. WD has produced another fantastic product. It is huge but i was expecting that, occupies the whole drives space, requiring the removal of a metal protective shroud for the HDD. so no real problems. It is nice to have a big drive for supporting several partitions on a laptop.

Capacity! Thicker type element = Much more platters = potential to spin at 5200rpm with similar or better bandwidth as a 5400, though running cooler. Fits perfectly in a 13" MacBook Pro Mid 2010 - the top of the drive comes up specifically level to the internal battery. Runs quiet! no 2TB version Appears to be quite rugged - I beat the tar out of this factor for the first 48 hours - transfered at least 1.five TB - reformatted and repartitioned several instances. I can't wait till the value of SSD comes down so I can put this drive in location of the optical drive, and use a SSD as the boot volume.

Excellent storage for laptop. You can have healthful partitions for OSX and Windows. Reliable drive from my experience. Slow, slow compared to 5400 and 7200 RPM drives that I've employed ahead of. There IS a noticeable lag in performance when carrying out a lot of issues on the 8GB MBP due to the fact I installed this drive from my 5400 PRM Samsung drive. It's so significantly of a difference that my maxed out 2010 MBP doesn't even appear like the identical computer system. Not confident yet if storage outweighs efficiency for my business requirements. The speed is my only situation. You also notice efficiency drop in playing games on a Bootcamp partition.

It's a 1TB drive, and it's not super expensive. It's twice as thick as a typical notebook difficult drive. It will not fit inside the HD compartment in my laptop due to it's thickness. Make sure you measure how deep your HD compartment is before you try to acquire this drive.

Massive capacity. Can't believe I can have a big OS X volume and still have enough space left more than for a valuable Bootcamp install of Win 7. Fits in my unibody Macbook Pro. S.M.A.R.T. works. Slow, slow, slow. I can't believe the distinction amongst 5400rpm and 5200rpm is so big. Following various months with this drive, I'm nonetheless amazed by its enormous capacity. Nevertheless, the speed of the drive is a actual issue. I'll most likely replace it with a 5400rpm drive at some point in the near future.

Quiet, cool. Apple EFI firmware 1.8 didn't recognize this drive on my computer system, had to downgrade to 1.6 to get device to operate. But considering that then, it operates perfectly. A low cost upgrade.

Huge size for a laptop A bit slow, even for a mechanical tough drive, but that's why I have an SSD for a boot drive. I've read in many places that the 12.5mm drives weren't supposed to fit the HP dv7-2000񳞨 series laptops, but I figured I would see for myself. If it didn't fit, I would just put it in an enclosure. Thankfully though, it did fit, a bit snug, but nothing at all, not even the cradle, required to be modified for it to fit.

A lot Much more Space which I required. Its nice to not have to worry about the capacity any longer. At least for a even though. Fits my initially generation 13" Aluminum Unibody Macbook. No Challenge with installation. Noticeably slow. From time to time frustratingly so. Ex. Spotlight is practically useless now (convenience was its speed). If you want the space get it but think about external storage due to the fact speed is seriously killing it for me.

I did my investigation and read the evaluations and ordered the drive.Drive came and it fit with no problem in my unibody MacBook Pro. Installation was basic and I am loving all of the space. None

Drive worked well for a month Somebody else wrote this drive is taller than a normal 2.5 inch drive and they had been right! This will not fit in any external enclosure I have found to date! So I created a makeshift case and got the drive to perform. Immediately after a month the drive completly failed I know there are other people out there now I suggest going to a diffrent one!
