1TB, of course - Drive is substantial, may possibly not fit in your laptop- Seems to be high failure rate, searching at evaluations- Mine was DOA Mine was DOA upon receipt. No challenge, these items happen.WD RMA method was quite painless, they shipped new drive before I had to send old. However, I had to spend return shipping. I could understand if the drive was two.5 years old, but I just received it.Drive doesn't match in HP DV9700, but that's my fault for not confirming initially.

1. Performs2. Regardless of becoming 12.5mm high, it fits into my VANTEC NST-280S3-BK 2.five" Black USB three. External Enclosure None There's not really significantly to say; either it functions or it doesn't, and it performs. I am glad that I can have a 1TB challenging drive into an external enclosure regardless of the fact that the hard drive's size is out of the norm.

Wonderful Capacity for a Notebook Drive. Installed in a Macbook Pro (mid 2010 15inch) and have a ton of storage space for movies and a bootcamp installation. It is seriously slow as the main drive. Stock drive 񢾘 rpm 500gb) booted in about 20-25 seconds. This drive takes over 45 seconds. Wonderful as a secondary drive. Installed a Intel 160gb SSD replacing my cd drive and WD drive works good as a data storage device. Final Thoughts - Great for data, undesirable for OS and applications.

Easy set up. No clicks. Even easier for me since I have a Unibody MBP without having an integrated battery ;) None yet. If you're installing it in a uMBP, just be confident to get rid of and install the studs from the side of your stock HDD. It demands a tiny torx, or even just a pair of visegrips...I would also suggest having a strategy for your old HDD; I purchased a sata enclosure for like ผ, and can nonetheless run my old macosx setup anytime I want.

Biggest laptop drive to date. Incredible how hard disk technologies has grown. Physical size (read "Other Thoughts") I just wanted to clear up two items about this drive before people leave bad evaluations who don't know what they're talking about. 1. This drive utilizes the new Advanced Format sector size. This is a wonderful feature for the most aspect mainly because it permits you to use additional of the drive's space. Nonetheless, AF will only perform natively in Vista and 7. XP calls for a software repair and other really hard disk tools may well not function appropriately with an Advanced Format drive. Keep that in thoughts. two. This drive is larger, in terms of height, than most drives. A lot of laptops don't assistance a 12.5mm (rather than a standard 9.5mm). Verify your laptop's documentation. If you don't know for confident, it's secure to assume it will not perform this drive. If it does even though, rock on.

Capacity want it had a bit much more cache Fits in the secondary bay of the Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q830.Does not fit in the major bay.boot order can be changed in bios, but I use this as a storage drive and have a more quickly 7200rpm drive as the boot drive. Was a hard decision among this and the Seagate Constellation ST9500530NS and the constellation had an unbelievable amount of cache, but in the finish the storage space won out. plus immediately after fitting in the wd, i don't think the constellation would of fit... would like to know if everyone has tried.

I've had no issues with this drive in the new i7 Macbook Pro. It's larger, so it's a little slower, but woth the trade off in space offered. I've had no problems with it for light video, and heavy photo perform. None as of however. If you don't like carying portable drives, and need to have the space, this drive is well worth a second look.

Fits in 17" MacBook Pro (original) Failed Intelligent Status I've employed about eight different Western Digital drives in this laptop. This is the very first drive that ever failed. I was able to format it when I very first installed it, but inside a couple hours, the performance was erratic with lengthy delays. Disk Utility showed the Sensible status as failing. Like I stated, this is probably my 8th WD drive and none of the others indicated any issues with the Sensible status, so not sure why the self proclaimed "Apple Technician" in an earlier overview would say that Apple OS indicates this with all drives.

Very good value. Very quiet. The size as stated multiple times is an outstanding challenge. Does not fit flush in Mac Mini's ... late 2009 ... you have to clip the corner of the plastic frame to get it to connect ... also sits atop of the heat sink below ... leaves the complete plastic base that holds the drives sitting larger which in turns leaves the 4th screw hole at a distinct height ... Don't get me incorrect, it IS doable ... you just have to clip one particular side of the plastic bar which holds the original drive ... a thing some Mac owners would rather not do ... but for the amount of space ... it was nicely worth it.

Incredibly massive quantity of space for a laptop really hard drive. A lot of people have commented wether it will fit in a MacBook Pro. It fits in my MacBook Pro, I have 15" Unibody with the removable battery. 5200 RPM, wish I could get a 7200RPM two.five" really hard drive with this amount of space. I originally bought the 750GB 9.5mm version of the WD Drive bit it died following less than a month. So I hope this drive will hold up. I just installed this drive today so we will see what takes place

Nice capacity. It's about time that a 1 TB internal drive grow to be available for laptops. It is not 7200 RPM. Warning: As I am certain other men and women have stated, this is not a standard two.5 laptop tough drive (it's really a little thicker than your typical laptop difficult drives). I have yet to find a Dell laptop that this will perform in. Got it to fit into a Lenovo T400 with minor difficulty.

Decent price tag. Lots of storage for a laptop drive. Only 5200rpm. Only 8mb cache. Installed in my 2010 MacBook Pro Core i7. Dual booting Snow Leopard and Windows 7 Enterprise x64, with a 3rd partition to access user files from both systems. Pretty great drive in spite of the low RPMs and cache.

Storage capacity.. naturally. At 5400RPM don't count on any miracles of throughput. Hard to discover an external enclosure due to the 12.5mm height. If you intend to run a 64-bit variant of Linux you could be in for some disappointment. It seems that this drive, among other individuals, has an NCQ situation that only rears it's head under 64-bit Linux - at least this is what I discovered in the Gentoo forums and the LKML. Regardless of whether or not you believe this may possibly be a bug in the Linux kernel, I'll leave up to you, but the efficiency in such an atmosphere is merely unbearable. I did not purchase this drive by means of Newegg, but rather it came with my new Asus G51Jx-A1 laptop. Following spending my inaugural two weeks with the laptop troubleshooting the issue, I've opted to go bankrupt and get a Corsair 256GB SSD and try to come across an external eSATA enclosure for this drive. I believed I'd write the review right here just to forewarn anybody who may well be running in a related environment.

Substantial capacity for a 2.5" notebook drive, decent sequential access speeds. Random access isn't that great, 5200RPM spindle speed is a bit bizarre, not the very best $/GB at the moment. I just purchased my second 1TB 2.5" internal and this drive is great. I have a MacBook Pro as well, and this one fits into my internal HDD bay. I replaced my optical drive with a SSD and the laptop or computer now flies. I can have a lot space and have a quick boot drive. That's not mention I have an internal Time Machine backup of my boot drive. The spindle speed is a bit weird at 5200RPM, but it operates fantastic and the improved capacity compensates for the slow spindle. As other people have mentioned getting an external WD Essentials/Passport two.5" drive and just taking the drive out—you can\'t do that anymore as the USB interface is now straight integrated into the drive inside (it's not a SATA-to-USB adapter anymore); if folks really purchased that drive, they would know this problem (and yes I have tried it myself to my personal disappointment).Going back to this drive, it's difficult to be disappointed. If you're prepared to sacrifice some speed for capacity, this is the way to go!

Reputable for me, I have been using this in my key laptop given that May well 2010.I moved my drive from my 2008-era MBP 13" to my new 2011 MBP 13" and it fits in the new MBP 13" no problem.Tons of space for my large iTunes library and Aperture library. Possibly slow? I didn't notice a significant diff when I upgraded to this drive. Curious what folks' practical experience is with overall performance difference among this five,200rpm drive and a five,400rpm drive (like the Samsung 1TB 2.five").
