1tb for pretty affordable.power effective...you know if that matters to you.fantastic for low-cost storage or A/V systems. Slow at 5400 rpm... in all probability don't want it as a boot drive on anything but a file server or A/V rig. Not truly a con, just know what you want in a drive. Once again...good for storage or A/V...otherwise get something else.

great value, reliable, excellent quantity of space. none that I've located This is the third 1 of these I've bought, 1st one particular was for my wife last July for a storage drive, second was a storage drive in my own method in September, and now this one to use in my program as properly as a RAID 1. Wonderful for my purpose, which is storage (using a smaller Caviar Blue as a boot drive).

* Wonderful Price tag* Oodles of Storage* Effortless to Set up * Not the Fastest Dog on the Track* No Guidelines or Manual (Minor Inconvenience) I got this HDD to use as a storage drive for a new build. The key drive is an OCZ Agility2 120GB SSD that I use as a boot drive and to retailer applications that I want to load swiftly, such as the MS Workplace suite. In retrospect, I probably should gone with a more quickly HDD such as the WD Caviar Black or far better, or maybe even a second SSD. I am now addicted to speed, so the WD Cav Green is a step slower than I care for. That becoming stated, it is a solid drive and hasn't offered me any problems. NewEgg sold it for such an outrageously low price tag, it was hard to pass up.

Cheap and energy efficient terabyte. None of the stuttering concerns I've had with past seagate drives. not a big fan of the slower 5400RPM speed, though I know that's what tends to make the drive 'Green'. My only con isn't actually a huge deal. I purchased this drive to use for storing video files, It doesn't need to be a blazing rapid drive, I just require lots of storage so this drive was perfect.

Value and Storage. Appears like a tough disk, Target practice, Aluminum scrap, (if you have adequate) Boat Anchor, Paper wieght, Brick substitute, Blunt (self-defence), Looks good in fish tank. Several... Drive Fails after practically a year. S.M.A.R.T says drive is fine. Drive hangs on boot sometime fails to load most applications amount of bad sectors accumulating. Poor performance. Not reccomended to everyone. This drive came with my Hp Pavilion Elite, good Pc lots of performance. With the exception of the drive and the Nvidia Northbridge overheating. once all that was fixed the dilemma remained that the system hung on several attemps at reading/writing to the drive the hdd light would remain on untill the drive could respond, occasionally not at all. I have a older 320gb drive that has been dying for years no terrible sectors just hangs sometimes. From what i have seen in my forums study WD Caviar Green is just Green a big green t*rd. I have had no luck with Western Digital due to the fact the old 80g Caviar blues. Reccomend obtaining one thing else. I have always had luck with Seagate, Toshiba, and Hitachi. I miss Quantums Still have two Quantum 20g Fireballs Operating strong. Dont make those any longer.

Great drive to maintain all the media, uncomplicated to set up and no difficulties so far. None so far.The speeds are slower than my other drives but i bought this one particular on objective to save some power because its not a drive I use on a day-to-day basis. I use this drive as a third drive just to save my backup and all my media. My major drive is a SSD for the OS and my second drive a WD Caviar black as normal storage for all my applications and games.

This was a massive drive, for a affordable price tag when I got it. Following about 9 months of significantly less-than-normal use, the disc suffered unrepairable errors. WD diagnostic tools, downloaded from their web-site, could not repair the challenge. Had to obtain another drive (non-WD). Thankfully, this HD lasted long adequate to save about 150 GB of data I didn't want to drop. Believed I may possibly be capable to use drive as a storage drive, but it sooner or later started to show errors and my Win7 Household Premium OS kept telling me the drive was about to fail. This isn't newegg's fault. I appreciate this website, and will continue to use it. Thankfully for me, WD has that year warranty on it. I am presently RMAing the drive and program to use it as a huge storage drive...or till it quits on me once more. We'ff come across out what takes place next.

Clean disks, low cost.Fast shipping as often with NewEgg. i purchased 2 of these - checked both the disks surfaces for physical errors or bad sectors and each checked out clean. These really hard drives Look pretty rapidly for a 5400 RPM disk, 64 MB Cache is nice also. Packaging was also pretty excellent. Truly can't complain about any aspect of this transaction. I don't think i have ever had a problam with any buy at NewEgg. NewEgg rocks as soon as again. ***** Gets all five stars. N/A Truthfully I rarely shop anyplace else for computer system stuff. NewEgg has constantly carried out me suitable, I recognize this may not generally be the case and I know items don't always go as planned (We are Only Human) and if i ought to have concerns I know NewEgg will take care of them.

Supposedly "Eco Friendly". Now I see why. If it doesn't work then it can't have a carbon footprint! DOA right after only 1 year of use, and that was only using it as a backup information drive not a key. I've usually heard such fantastic things about Western Digital, but I have had drives from every single major brand fail with the exception of Samsung.

Bought this to upgrade my Dish Network DTVPAL DVR.Worked great and is still going sturdy. This really expanded the DVR's capacity to over 130 hours. This makes it possible for me to retain up with Television programs I like, but can't watch due to my usually evening function hours. None. I recently purchased an additional DVR and would like yet another, especially at the value I paid for this on sale.

These drives run cool and quiet, give a lot more than acceptable transfer speeds for normal applications, have a extended lifespan, and have a amazing price point to best it off. As of however, I have not encountered a single situation with these drives. ten of them have been operating 24x7 for about four months in either standby or active modes, and two of them have been running 24x7 for practically a year now, and have moved with me twice. As briefly noted above, I have owned two drives of this model for almost a year, I think (and if not these, I owned the similar Green drives a generation back; forgive my memory).I planned to construct a file server earlier this year. Right after searching around, I went with a number of of the WD Green 2TB drives. A quick scan by way of the testimonials for these drives should reveal why I am not making use of them. I replaced them with ten of these guys, as I had read that the lower capacity is additional forgiving to manufacturing errors, shipping, and so on.I do not place a lot of throughput into these drives, so appear elsewhere for commentary on that. Nonetheless, as far as uptime and reliability, I'd say these drives are tops. I move terabytes of data across these drives routinely in massive transfers, and I hold them on contact in RAID5 24x7, and despite this, I haven't had a solitary hiccup from them.

They are quiet and low watts. The drives are reporting sector size 512 to the RAID controller, though they use the "Advanced Format", which has sector size 4096. They function in a RAID, but with this conflict they are terribly slow. I get study/write speed below 15 MB/s and WD appear to have no options to this. I phoned some sounds-like-outsourced assistance and they just mentioned the green drives are unrecommended for RAID.ONLY Buy THESE DRIVES IF YOU WANT TO USE THEM Outdoors OF RAID. If you run Windows XP, you need to have an additional software program as a layer for the OS to work with the "Advanced Format".

-Silent-Quick adequate-Efficient / low power-1TB, excellent deal None that I can assume of You don't want a VelociRaptor challenging drive unless you're dead severe about "my game have to load 2 seconds quicker!" This drive, with 64MB of cache and a big platter size, is lots quick. Windows 7 x64 loads like it's nothing at all, and programs don't hesitate to load either. The drive is nigh silent, and not really warm to the touch. Supposedly makes use of half the power of the competition, which is only a 4W savings, but I'll take what I can get. Hats off to you, Western Digital.

More quickly than anticipated, cool, quiet. Failed following only 78 hours total energy-on time. Bought for use as backup drive to on the web 1TB drive ... installed in drive caddy with cooling. Powered up only when undertaking backups. Worked extremely well for very first 78 hours of total energy on time Ɩ months calendar time), then began possessing difficulty getting recognized. Tested working with WD DLG 504F (DOS version in bootable CD) quick scan -- got error code 0007 (read element failure). Even so it then passed with out error beneath Windows DLG four.22 fast scan. Utilised Windows DLG 4.22 to zero whole drive, then it passed a complete drive scan with out error. But it worked significantly less than 30 minutes before beginning to give problems again getting recognized. Did yet another full zero and full scan and it turned up poor sectors. Deemed unreliable, so have returned to WD under RMA warranty.

Low price tagFunctions in my Tivo Premiere Upgrading a Tivo Premieres HDD is quite time consuming, but ALL of the old data (shows, season passes, cable card information, and so forth,...) are copied to the new drive.) I used Ross Walkers guide to upgrading my Tivo Premiere - it's been 2 months since the upgrade and no challenges. I'll be finding a 2TB drive to replace this soon, but for now, this is superb.

five min set up in my NZXT Hades case with tooless installation. 1TB absolutely ready to be filled 鿣GB precisely). Speed isn't a concern to me seeing as most of the stuff I place on here is for permanent storage and will be often but not demandingly accessed if you understand what I'm saying. 3 year warranty by WD is very good, even though I would have liked a 5 year but by then, SSDs will almost certainly be our principal method of storage in bigger capacities and HDDs will be on their way to becoming obsolete or a thing even better will be out. Who knows? The egg had it as the similar value as a neighborhood computer system shop so I purchased from them alternatively. Originally had challenges becoming detected in Win 7 and it wouldn't format and kept giving I/O errors. Following a couple of reboots and playing about with it, I decided to replace the SATA cable and every thing worked fine from there on. Tossed the old cable to the trash. Employed Western Digital's diagnostic software program to evaluate my drive's status and every thing is very good to go. If anything ever does go incorrect, I know how the RMA method for WD performs and I know from encounter that it is painless and really reputable. A 500GB "My Passport" drive that I bought for my sister died. She referred to as them up, sent it in and received a new drive in about a week or so.
