Sustained write speeds of 100-110 MB/s from a Samsung 830 SSD. Considerably faster than my USB 2.0 external that gets about 30 MB/s. Very happy so far. |

I bought this External HDD in September 2012. My laptop only had USB 2.0 so I didn't notice immediately that when I connect it in USB 3.0, it just keeps disconnecting, so I can't really use this functionality. Anyway, I kept using it with 2.0, but yesterday, for no reason, it started making the "click of death" sound. Now it won't work anymore and I lost everything I had on it, after only 4 months...I can't tell how disappointed I am with this product, and I DO NOT recommend it at all. |

I actually have two of these, The first one I picked up awhile ago and loved it, so I had to get another seeing its boxing week sales value.I do a lot of PC repair and having these around to backup a customers PC is great. However it comes by default formatted at FAT32 which means you cannot copy large files over.Make sure to format it to NTFS as soon as you get it. No harm done to the drive and it performs much faster. |

This drive is is very portable and fast. I am getting write speeds of about 83MB/s on mine, which is blazingly fast compared to my older (1.5 year old) lantek drive.Older standard sized drives (like my lantek) are large, bulky, noisy, heavy, slow, and you have to deal with multiple cables and an electrical plug the size of a small potato (in my old drive at least). Smaller 2.5" external drives are great since they only need the one USB cable for power.the casing is plastic, and many people prefer aluminum, but I think the plastic case is better in most cases as it is still sturdy and reduces the total weight.The price is great, especially if you can buy it on sale like I did. As a quick note, remember to reformat the drive from FAT32 to NTFS when you get it* ;)(*unless your on a mac or linux) |

I got it on sale, very good price at NCIX. Installed on my DELL Core i5 laptop with USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports. I transferred 350 GB of video & photo files from my laptop to the new ADATA ACH11 via USB 3.0 SuperSpeed port. The fastest write speed is only 15 MB/second for photos & 20 MB/second for video(which is far less than "transfer speed of 5 GB/s" claimed on the box). For some reason, the black ADATA ACH11 appears compact inside the package box....but when I took it out of the box, it is actually very thick (2x the thickness of a standard 2.5 HHD). It is actually a lot thicker than my old Buffalo & WD 2.5 external HHDs. The connecting plug seemed very small & fragile in comparison to the very thick & short connecting cable. If I lost the cable, I will have a hard time finding another cable like this. |

Bought it at 105$, good price with the current hard drive market, needed a background for me and my mother, all our music, her photo, my giant steam folder, my video...It is good fast, small, and everything. I made many partition on it, some crypted with truecryt for me and my mother (just to keep some privacy). Work perfectly. I will most probably buy a second one soon for my grand-mother (yup, it is that easy to use).It is fast for the usb format. adata is also a well known company, they make great thing. |

First let me say that NCIX service was excellent and fast.I purchased this drive to use with my Patriot PBO Core media player and got it on sale at $109 which is a great price for 1TB.The drive is very compact, very quiet and runs cool. Drive connected to XP and Win7 computers (USB2.0) without issues but it would not spin up on the media player. It would start to spin up then shut down after a second. After many attempts, I managed to get it to spin up and the media player was able to mount it so I don`t think it has anything to do with driver compatibility. It`s rock solid on my other computers.I suspected problem was due to insufficient power from the media player USB2.0 port so I set out looking for a Y cable and what an adventure! Drive has a USB3.0 connector so a USB3 Y cable or a USB2 micro connector Y cable is needed both of which are difficult to find. NCIX does not carry these.ADATA should ship this drive with USB3 Y cable since it is very likely that this will happen with the larger 2.5`drives!Another strange thing is that it came formatted FAT32 so all you Windows users take note to reformat to NTFS before eagerly copying your files. |

I bought this drive because it was supposed to work fine with Mac. The requirements is OSX 10.4 or later. When I plugged it in on my laptop (PPC running 10.5.8 OS), it didn't show up nor in the finder nor anywhere else. I guess that this driver don't work with PPC. I got a reply from ADATA saying that could be because it's a USB 3.0 model and it requires more energy than USB 2.0. So, why do you sell it as USB 2.0 compatible if it's actually not? Same for the system requirements: why don't you say it's only for Intel platform (if my guess is right though)? Cons: 2 full days lost looking for solutions. Pros: at least I could have a full refund. |

I opened the enclosure and used the drive itself. The drive is a Toshiba MQ01ABD100.This drive has 3901 power on hours for me so far but is pretty lightly used (132 power cycle count).The enclosure is secured by snaps that don't need to be broken to be opened and can be reclosed really easily just need to be careful (I started at the side opposite the connector.) The USB 3/SATA board just plugs into the drive and sits there so is very easily reused/removed. I've tested this with a 500 GB WD 2.5" drive and it works well.
