AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Socket AM2 CPU

I did not overclock this processor but did find interesting information on the Internet about it possibly having a third core. For overclockers, that may be worth looking up the model number and doing some research. My computer came with an AMD 64 x2 5000, 2.6ghz. I wanted to try this to see if it performed as well----it performs quieter and faster. I bought another one as a backup for another computer I have which also uses AMD Socket AM2.

For a lower power, basic Dual Core AMD Athalon system, this chip is perfect for the price, throw on a Masscool CPU cooler, and your good to go. it allowed me to salvage my Emachines Motherboard for system build for my mother, to do photos and surf the web, gives her all the power she needs, and should serve her for a few years. She is happy with this, so i am happy. :-) Just remember your not gonna get the same performance here as a tri or quad core AMD, but all things considering this chip is a 5 star.

Bought this CPU a year and 21 days ago, and it is perfect for all my computing needs. i dropped it into a crappy Acer T180 and bought some memory for it and recently a new Galaxy geforce 9600gt OC, and this setup is amazing for doing almost anything i want to. mind you its not the top of the line anything but im able to play crysis on high, and play any other video games maxed out pretty well. I recommend this for anyone on a budget looking for performance. Stands the test of time for 1 year at least.

This is a great CPU. With 2 cores each running at 2.61Ghz it's a fast chip. This chip is right in the sweet spot. Most things software still only uses 1 or 2 cores. So not only can this CPU fill both thoses spots but it's still fast enough when an aplication is just using 1 core.

Installed in an XFX 8200 with 2 gigs 1066 memory. Using the system to play blu-ray. After setting the bios to "load optimized defaults" everything is smooth and steady.
