Works fantastic as expected. I ran out of SATA ports on my desktop and utilised this solution to connect an internal LG SATA-II Blu-Ray burner to a IDE/PATA one hundred port on my motherboard. Sized completely for SATA really hard drives or optical drives.* Has an actual IDE male plastic connector, so no likelihood of connecting the IDE cable backwards. Other vendors with the identical product just provide the male pins off the PCB board.* Comes with double sided sticky back tape, cut completely for the adapter. the tape comes installed on the SATA side of the adapter with a single side stuck, and a protective skin on the other that you can eliminate to make it stick. This not only permits you to stick the adapter to your SATA device so it doesn't come off when connecting cables, but it also ensures that the PCB board doesn't get shorted. This appears to be the only vendor that gives this.*I could purchase a different to use on my older HDR-250 TiVo so I can use a bigger SATA drive on on it. Can't come across IDE drives any longer. Not truly a con, but it had some solder flux remover (white) caked onto parts of the PCB board. Didn't bother me though and doesn't influence it's functionality. Dropped one egg for this although. * The adapter does not present a jumper to switch among cable choose, Master or Slave IDE, so it configures the SATA device on the IDE channel as the Master device only. Not an concern, just can't be employed to make the SATA device a slave IDE device. If you have a second IDE disk on the channel, just make that device the slave* The adapter has a jumper to switch path of the conversion (the default SATA->IDE, or IDE->SATA ) but I don't genuinely expect any one would ever switch the conversion with this device. The SATA/power connector is female to connect to SATA drive as a single would anticipate. SATA cables are normally female -> female, so you would want a Male -> Female SATA cable to use it in reverse (Female for motherboard connector and Male to plug into the adapter). I would most likely just get one more device that defaults to IDE -> SATA conversion with a male SATA connector instead of attempting to uncover a cable. Good feature , but I just don't anticipate any one particular would use it in reverse

Permitted me to add a big sata drive to an old IDE only method. Attached straight to the back of a SATA drive. Appears like it could function in reverse as nicely, but I didn't attempt that. Not a big deal, but my case didn't have sufficient space for the additional inch this device occupies. I had to install the challenging drive beneath the cd drive to get my case cover back on. Not the device's fault even though. I'm not positive if this is a challenge with the device or the drive, but it wouldn't set up as a slave on the IDE channel. Had to alter another device to be the slave to get this working.

It will convert SATA into IDE with no problem, I like the 1 piece option just plug it. Was working just about correct out of the box but... No manual or facts that you have to use ATA133 cable, but BIOS msg when I was booting comp. helped to resolve this challenge, some time wasted reconnecting drives, no information about the jumper setting - though I didn't switch something and was operating fine on default config. However, I was arranging to us it with LITON BlueRay and anything was operating fine- reads CD, DVD but when I was attempting to play BD movie - "sorry crucial error can't play the disk. I attempted diverse BD players similar problem no access to BD - that's why I'm taking egg off. PowerDVD 8BD Edit is a piece of junk. Whilst ago it was a good player now it is an additional monstrous piece of junk hijacking your technique.Otherwise it is a great piece of hardware.

Cheap Does not work with my ASUS P4 motherboard. This adapter does not work with an older Asus P4 (P4S8X-MX) motherboard. When the adapter is connected to the motherboard with a SATA laptop difficult drive, the BIOS hangs when it begins scanning for drives. If I disconnect the energy to the adapter, wait till soon after the BIOS posts, reconnect power to the really hard drive, the OS seems to see the drive, but I have not performed any study/write tests.

Functions with my ASUS socket 939 board. As pointed out by other reviewers has an actual IDE socket as properly as double sided tape to attach to the drive. Utilised it to get a blu-ray drive operating on my old board. None Fatastic solution at this price!

Straightforward installation. Specifically the device I necessary to set up a SATA drive in a pal's old Dell Dimension 2350. Saw review by Rob saying you can't use SATA device connected employing this too late. I did uncover the Koutech IO-ASA120 IDE to SATA II Device Adapter here on newegg that has jumpers like a standard IDE drive for cable select, master, and slave. Haven't attempted this yet but maybe this bridge is set to cable choose. If that's the case, it will be possible to use the drive as a slave just by employing a cable pick IDE cable.

small board.. covers the front surface region of any random SATA HDD.. there are a handful of items that will spot this product above any other individuals I've seen readily available.. as talked about in the prior review there is an actual IDE plug on the card rather than the bare IDE pins which could potentially result in an upside down plugging in or possibly missing all the pins... there's a energy and activity LED on the card itself... a Main bonus in my opinion, also as stated in the previous overview there is a double sided piece of foam tape on the back of the card to either permanently attach it to the HDD itself, or if you want just leave the backing on and it cushions your pushing on of the IDE and molex plug into the front of the card... no 6th egg obtainable :-) overall this is a far better converter card than I've seen obtainable, and for 1ǘ the price of other people.. I own a slightly older external case that is IDE primarily based but was converter card capable, the point holds 8 HDD's and connects with a USB 2. cable to my computer system i ordered a 1.5T SATA drive from WD and it works wonderfully in the external case, as of yesterday i ordered a different drive and 7 more converter cards, six of which i hope to use eventually in my external case.... i have to say tho that i purchased this device strictly for SATA to IDE HDD use... i by no means gave it a shot on an optical drive...

Operates great in my IDE external case, now I can use any kind of drive I please! The plugs line up completely with three.five" & 2.five" Sata challenging drives, then on the back side the IDE connection and power connection are in the identical areas as a standard IDE tough drive. None so far, does what it says. (maybe more) This may possibly be bi-directional, there is a jumper and three pins labeled C-A-B on the IDE side, it says to the left of the pins "A-B: IDE to Sata, A-C: Sata to IDE" I tried turning a Sata drive into a IDE in the factory setting (C-A) and it didn't function for me. I changed the jumper to A-C and it worked good!If it is in truth bi-directional, I'm not certain how to energy an IDE drive from Sata, given that each the IDE drive and this adapter would have male connections. A female to female 4 pin power adapter would be necessary. A standard IDE cable really should work for the information connection at least. (unfortunately this adapter almost certainly needs energy to operate, so bypassing the energy connection on the adapter far more than probably isn't an option.)

Easy to install, Affordable None Utilized adapter with a new Western Digital 500 GB SATA drive on an older Dell Dimension 2400 with only IDE drive connectors. Cloned orginal tricky drive with APRICORN ADW-USB-KIT IDE/PATA/SATA to USB HDD Adapter and EZ Gig II Cloning Computer software. Place Kingwin adapter on drive and booted up with no bios or tough drive jumper adjustments. Worked great! The nice point about this adapter is it plugs directly onto the new SATA tough drive and you use the original ide cable so you don't have to buy a sata cable.

Extremely great design. Its the precise same dimensions as the back of a SATA hard drive, so there's no additional junk hanging out about the edges to block a clean set up. The LEDs on the board make it effortless to diagnose if its working properly. The double sided tape on the back is a key plus!Makes use of a regular molex for power! It wont make me a sammich??? This little thing permitted me to purchase the larger and less expensive SATA drives to use in an older Iomega 200 NAS device which is IDE only. Combine that with FreeNAS and it was a fantastic answer for a NAS device. These are a tiny additional pricey than the ones you discover in other areas, but the fit and finish is well worth it to me. No worries with tight installs, and it operates perfectly.

Permitted me to add 750GB of newer gen storage to an old dell method i use as a media server.About half the expense of most respectable PCI SATA controller cards. Took me a tiny time to get it working properly You can use this on a secondary hdd IF you put it on it's personal IDE channel, all by itself. At least i got it to function. Also, in XP, you can format your disk via disk management in the computer management window. Search how to access it if you don't know how, there are quite a few explanations on the internet.

Red and green LEDs 1. Won't perform with one more HDD on identical PATA channel -- interference, recognition difficulties.2. Burst/transfer rates capped at ATAኞ, won't reach ATA100렝. Only adapter I've observed do this. Burst and transfer rates on Tyan MPX about 15% below already conservative 33 MB/s UDMA2 recognition rate. Feasible file technique corruption linked with testing this device, "no operating sytsem discovered" errors, Chkdsk automatically run on reboot. Nice and uncomplicated, exactly what I necessary... ... Sadly it doesn't fit in my Fat PS2. I was hunting to replace the HD in my PS2, and believed I'd make the jump to SATA for the bigger capacities. I ordered up a two.5 drive and this adapter, but extremely sadly when the bridge is in location it is taller than the height of a typical three.5" IDE drive and won't fit into the PS2.

Functions specifically as stated. Attached perfectly to the new SATA that I bought at the similar time to go into my old IDE box. Works specifically as stated; which is not what I necessary. I can't genuinely detract any eggs since it did what it's created to do. Wish I'd have read by way of all the evaluations to locate out that this does not permit the SATA to be utilized as a slave. I had wanted to leave the OS on the original HD and use the 500GB SATA for expanded storage. Upon boot up, BIOS only located the new SATA, no way to get the the original HD. Oh properly, for the price tag I'll keep it and use it on one thing. It's a fairly slick little device. Now, if I could only come across one that would enable me to asign the new HD as a slave...

Converts SATA to IDE The jumper as a different person mentioned says to set it to AB if you are going from IDE to SATA and CA if you are going from SATA to IDE but it didn't perform for my SATA DVD drive if I had it set to CA so AB it was. Every little thing seemed to be working ok till I got to DVD playback. Playback was all choppy. Not confident what the issue is but I'm taking it back. I had high hopes for this till the DVD playback.

This adapter makes use of the GL830 chip, a highly-compatible, low cost PATA to SATA bridge controller. It integratesGenesys Logic own design high speed Transceiver Macrocell Interface and Serial ATA PHY. In my humble opinion the very best on the industry. The soldering job is performed by poorly trained work force you know exactly where at... The solder looks poor to the expert eye but is functional and works superior enough for household use. Beside poorly performed soldering this adapter is incredibly excellent and very functional. In-spite me complaining, please be assured, that for residence use it will last indefinitely...

This bridge board was easy to hook up and worked as it should once I got it running. None with the actual item. Kingwin tech support gets a thumbs down from me although. Should be attached to the master line on the IDE channel. I also have an optical drive attached to the slave line without any efficiency problems. I had a slight issue with BIOS not recognizing the drive during installation, turned out to be a dying IDE cable. Emailed Kingwin about it not becoming recognized (thinking it was an issues with the adapter) and didn't get ever get a response from them. Changed out the IDE cable and haven't had an concern with the hard drive because. Excellent item, meh customer support
