Cons: I had to change mounting bracket to high mount type which was provided - 1 min job.
Pros: Good value considering what it does.Well made.Comes with two mounting brackets.Same speed as MB controllers.Allows much cleaner cabling to drives in cages.Functions such as smart monitoring work fine.Card BIOS checks card on boot. |

Cons: Not a true raid card (what do you expect at this price?)
Pros: CheapPerfect for 4224 Case and Unraid Comment:
I bought 3 of these cards for use with the Norco 4224 case for my Unraid build and it's been running for 6months now without any issues.Other reviews across the web slam this card for not being a true hardware RAID card... This boggles my mind because what are people honestly expecting at this price point?If you're planning to use with the Norco 4224 case, be sure to pick up cables "Norco C-SFF8087-D SFF-8087 to SFF8087 Internal Multilane SAS" (two per card) to connect to the backplanes. |

Cons: -Can't pass through SMART data-Performance decreases when transferring between multiple drives simultaneously

This was a great purchase for a file-server which contained 13 harddrives, I am not currently using RAID as the data is non-crucial and are backed up on a weekly basis to another computer. My one complaint is that it does not pass through SMART info in Windows 7. |

Cons: Need to get 2X sas to sata forwarder cable. These cables are not cheap. around $20 each
Pros: Very fast. Same speed as the onboard sata portsworks perfectly with Ubuntu 11.10 Comment:
running snapraid with ubuntu. I am very happy with the card. it is a pciex8 card so it can serve all 8 drives without bandwidth problem. it works on Ubuntu 11.10 out of the box. it does not have any instructions. I do not think this is necessary as this card just plug and play in Ubuntu. I'm using MSI Z77 board and it works fine and stable. will buy more in the future when needed.This card together with Toshiba 3TB drive gives me 190MB/S in hdparm -tT test. |

Had a little trouble with this card until I flashed my motherboard's BIOS. Once done, it posted and all drives were detected. Plug and play with no driver installation needed. Using this for my unraid and it works perfectly. |
This is a great addition to a machine with lots of drives in cages. I use LSI 3WARE Multi Lane Internal 0.6M MINI-SAS SFF-8087 to 4X Serial ATA cables which are plenty long enough for my HAFX box. I also got a set of Highpoint INT-MS-1M4S Internal 3FT SFF-8087 to SATA to act as spare cables, and to connect 4T backup drives which I have in a Coolermaster drive cage externally (until external eSata enclosures for 4T drives become available) . Remember to PM cables and card. Other than changing the bracket to the regular one provided, it was just a matter of plugging in card and routing cables. Everything is detected in any modern Linux. Scrubs with SnapRAID showed no issues with checked hashes. Super!
