Pros: -fast charge ability (as fast as my 1A AC-USB charger that came with my phone)-relatively small-matte white finish-better exterior build quality than no-name packs off auction sites and discount overseas vendors. Comment:
I bought this as a backup battery for my Galaxy S3 (SGH-i747m) since I can't fit a high capacity battery and cover in the UAG case I have the phone in. This Powerup 3000 has a 3000mAh 3.7v (11Wh) Li-ion cell and my phone has a 2100mAh 3.8v (7.98Wh) battery yet I can only get about a 80% charge from this pack while the phone is on. I read about the conversion and efficiency loss from boosting the 3.7v to 5.0v to enable USB charging and Li-ion cell capacities are rated at 0.2C discharge rate. The high charging rate (up to 1A) draws power from the battery harder than the rating standard, so it has less capacity (1A discharge=0.33C). The included USB-microUSB cable is a bit short and the microUSB end is a bit wide, too wide to fit through the hole in my phone case. I'm using another cable that has a thinner end on it. The blue LEDs are freaking bright. They will light up the ceiling of my room when charging. I flip it so the LEDs are facing down so that I can sleep.I'd technically give it a 3.5 star rating but that's not available so I'm giving it 3 stars. If it had managed to give me a 95-100% charge on my phone then I would have given it 4 stars. |
Over all a very good product. Bought it for 25 on sale and use or to charge my iPhone. It is much better than the eBay batteries that I have bought in the past. And I have no idea why it doesn't say on the website anywhere, but on the battery itself, it says that the cell is actually from Panasonic. Which is nice to know too.
