it operates none This point operates quite well, and my linux machine (with Cups printing service) recognized the usb to parallel, so I was printing soon right after. Cord was extended enough for me

Enables me to use an oldie but goodie HP laserjet on a newish motherboard (no LPT ports) running the most up-to-date OS. Expenses บ, supported by Windows 7 x64. Mindless install readily available. If you're attempting to install an old printer, and it's not in the initial "add printer" list, click "Windows Update" for the newest supported printers. Didn't speed up the old tank-of-a-HP4p Will get one more on on my next eggorder

Plugs right into the printer, eliminating the "middle man" problem of using adapters. Worked with Okidata ML-590 dot-matrix printers on Windows 7 x64 machines. Did demand a reboot following adding the printer just before it worked, but that's a smaller nit. Solved a potentially expensive difficulty for me at function - connecting four old dot-matrix printers (yes, individuals nonetheless use them). More affordable adapter didn't function and finding a USB dot-matrix is like locating the grail.

Worked appropriate out of the box. Permitted me to access our LJ4100. The new Computer had no Parallel port. Just plugged into a USB did the "add a printer" dialog and worked like a charm. None. Purchased from NewEgg. No Tax in IL.

Low expense and simple installation. I used this item to connect a Laserjet 4100 with Centronics interface a new HP desktop operating Vista 64 bit.I connected the cable to the printer and then to a USB port on the pc. Vista immediately recognized it and auto-installed drivers. I manually added the printer and almost everything performs perfectly so far.I tested it by turning off the printer and printing a test doc to load the queue. Vista reconnected and printed adequately when I turned on the printer. None

Connected my HP LaserJet 5MP to my new motherboard on a new Windows 7 install - Win7 downloaded the driver and the printer worked. No hassles, worked perfectly the first time. A bit shorter than my old parallel cable... but I need to be able to get a USB extension.

Performs flawlessly with cranky Point-Of-Sale software program. Plugged it and instantly discovered and installed internal Windows 2003 server drivers. Ran Net Use to map the USB port to LPT1: and voila - all of these old finicky DOS primarily based applications print perfectly. Even works with the seriously old, driverless character-by-character print routines. None

1. plug in cable and printtwo. cheapthree. I can nevertheless use the older HP 4050 laserjet printer with XP and Vista none Employing this cable with Dell Vostro notebook with XP connected to HP Laserjet 4050 printer. The printer is old and only has a parallel port. The laptop has USB connections. This cable solved the problem. Plugged in the cable, XP recognized and installed the drivers. When adding the printer make confident to choose the Virtual Printer Port which is developed by installing the cable to the Computer. This cable also works on my other Computer with Vista.

Windows XP recognized my HP Laserjet 6L parallelprinter as a USB device instantly. WinXP alsocreated a separate printer configuration, which I did notnotice at initial. When I tried to print from the originalconfiguration, it did not function (which nevertheless listed the portas LPT1). Nevertheless, after I switched to the newconfiguration (which listed the port as USB), therewas no difficulty. Therefore, appears to work extremely nicely. Does not seem to function with DOS applicationssuch as Wordperfect five.1.Nevertheless, this is no doubt a issue withtrying to use DOS applications with a USBconnection below Windows XP, rather thana difficulty with this particular hardware itself. Overall works perfectly with Windowsapplications.

Worked right out of the box, seems to be made of top quality gauge wire and ends. Colour is a small drab? (It was classic personal computer beige when I was expecting white from the image). Not truly a con although, matches the printer. This cable Operates on an HP Laserjet 4M Plus on Vista 64, and I would envision would also work in XP and Windows 7 as well. In contrast to the SABRENT 5ft. USB to Parallel (Item #: N82E16812156005), this truly worked right out of the box for me. Also seems to have a greater build high quality than the Sabrent.

Functions. Got 2 old LaserJet printers working with Win 7 64bit. But, that's additional due to the fact of Microsofts driver support for them. Nothing I can pin down but. Seemed flacky at first. But I was moving it around to unique USB ports. It appears to produce a new printer every time you move to a unique port. Considering that settling down and maintaining it in the same port. No issues. Although the printer did seem to hang once. Sent print job to the printer and nothing at all ever happend. Not even an error. But, that was just as soon as so far. Functions with Windows 7 64 and HP Laserjet 4p, and HP Laserjet 2100. Windows automatically went out and identified the drivers by Microsoft.

Believed it would be an effortless resolution following replacing a customers laptop running Windows XP SP3 with 1 that lacked a parallel port. The immediate the drivers loaded, the program behaved erratic. Mouse would not operate effectively, P/S 2 keyboard didn't function effectively Attempted utilizing different USB ports, but the flakiness remained.Removed cable, and system runs just fine. In my 18 years of pc repair, I've never ever noticed anything like this.

Worked proper out of the box. XP didn't even burp. My Laserjet 4L has a compartment to hide the connector, and the gizmo in the cable that converts between USB and parallel would be also big to fit by way of the hole when the compartment cover is on. Not a problem for me as I haven't bothered with the cover for years, but some might not like it.

Plugs directly from printer to USB. XP picked up my 6P and I could use the printer appropriate away. This cable is about 2Ǚ the length of the printers original cable so I couldn't snake it behind the desk as just before, but this does not impare the solutions function. In addition to this cable is not obnoxious sized like older lpt cables. Upgraded motherboard and though it has the riser pins the rear panel excludes a parellel port. This is a much less expensive remedy compared to an adaptor card for what tiny printing I realy do.And sice the printer still functions I couldn't see tossing it into a landfill.

Plugged it into my Dell Inspiron 531 operating Vista and it recognized it as an extra "USB Printing Help" item beneath the device manager. Then I plugged it into my old HP Laserjet 4L and manually added the printer. When you add your printer you will need to select the appropriate "Virtual printer port for USB" port. Printed test page and it performs! Hoping to save some inkjet ink using the old laser... none
